We highly recommend this nice, small, western-style hotel for both business travelers and vacationers. We stayed here for 6 wonderful nights in late January 2011, and absolutely loved it for its:
(1) convenient location and spacious, comfortable, well-appointed rooms
(2) free breakfast buffet of both western and estern styles, including hamlets made to order
(3) free access to 24hr business center
(4) free wi-fi in hotel everywhere
(5) free coffee/tee, biscuits in a beautifully- appointed self-service café-lounge;
(6) spacious room ($105/delux); separate bathtub and glass-walled shower stall with 2 shower heads. Free room amenities include: daily English/Chinese newspaper, fresh fruit plate, bottle water, instant coffee/tee bags and a hot water pot
(6) Thin-TV with multiple channels in English, including CNN  and HBO
(7) extremely friendly and helpful staff, and all of them speak excellent English.

The subway stations, and some major attractions such as National Taiwan Museum, Zhong Zheng Memorial, National Cultural Center, Performing Art Center, are only about 20 mins walk away. Various types of restaurants, including the famous Dintaifung (must try their world-famous little steamed damplings) and Silver Wing are only a few minutes away. We spent 6 lovely nights here. Their helpful staff helped us map out the bus/subway routes to major attractions, shows, hiking areas, restaurants..and shopping. Hotel also provides once-per-day free shuttle service to nearby attractions. At any rate, taxis are readily available and inexpensive.

The few drawbacks of this hotel might be its lack of a view from the room windows, and there is ni in-house bar or restaurant. If you open the windows in your room, you only see the residential buildings, which are quite old. The carpets in the room can also use some shampooing. Grouts in shower stall needs some scrubbing.
But, everytying else in the hotel is quite modern in decor, very clean and pleasant. During our stay, we saw happy 2 vacationing couples from Norway, Hong Kong,  and a few American businessmen.

I booked the hotel pretty last minute when all other choices on my list came back full for our period of stay (24-26 Dec). I placed it on my list purely becoz of the reviews here in tripadvisor cos the pix on its website are not appealing at all. The appearance of the hotel, is not appealing at all. Situated at a pretty rundown neighbourhood with old and shabby hawker market, a very local Chinese name and a very down to earth logo, the first impression was disappointing.

Since we were arriving late and travelling with a young kid, I contacted the hotel the day before to remind them to have the room ready and make sure that it's smoke free. I got a prompt reply assuring me of all requests. However, the room smelled very smoky when we arrived and no other room can be switched to cos it's a full house. Staff were very apologetic and tried their best to refreshing the room with an ozone machine and did another try the next day.

Breakfast place was nice but the food was just so so, in my standard. Again, staff attending breakfast were very friendly and helpful that you dont care to judge and complain so much.

Free wifi and broadband in the room with good connnection which is good.

It's not closed to MRT and would cost more than NT$200 by taxi to get to Department store, NT$100 to Da An Zhong Xiao 4, 15 min walk to Ding Tai Feng and Yong Kang St. It would be ok in a nice cool day to do the walking but it would be quite annoying during rainy days/cold winters/hot summers. You can't take a taxi cos it's walking distance but it's not an easy comfortable path.

I wouldnt choose it again if I have a choice becoz of the location, but I have to say it's a good value for money and the staff are doing a good job.

The hotel was good, room was spacious, hospitality was excellent and the service was commendable. Breakfast was just ok. Perhaps the menu needs to improvised.

Thanks

Although the hotel is geared toward business travelers as its name implies, we noticed many types of guests during our four day stay (families, tourists, etc.). Overall Royal Biz Taipei is a fairly standard hotel-- typical hotel decor, average-sized rooms, professional staff, and decent buffet breakfast (included in price). What makes the hotel notable is its great value, helpful staff and central location. The nearest MRT/subway station (Zhongxiao Xinsheng) is an easy 10-15 minute walk.

Great hotel! Rooms was very modern, clean and spacious. Breakfast buffet was good and good variety. Service was good in general (fresh fruit in our room everyday, very friendly reception staff), but certainly when we had questions about our planned drive to Taroko the next day. We had heard a road had been blocked due to a landslide, and the reception staff was kind enough to contact our Taroko hotel and find out how we could get there.
Location was good, we could walk to several Metro stations, and also plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Some of the sights are also withing walking distance.
Only thing that wasn't good was the little map of the area around the hotel they handed out. Tried to find a few restaurants on there, but failed miserably each time, so give that a miss.

Our stay at the Royal Biz was one of the best. We stayed in Superior suite, plenty of room for a family of four (Baby and 3 year old). Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good mix for everyone. The hotel staff arranged a car from the airport and we did not have to worry about anything. They even arranged our tour to Taroko Gourge.
