Salil Hotel Sukhumvit Soi 8
Ranked #341 of 889 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed 16 October 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Salil for just under 3 weeks with my girlfriend in October 2013.
The hotel is a older hotel and could do with a lick of paint in places to coin a phrase but the staff more than make up for this. Nothing is too much trouble and always with a huge smile. The front desk staff are polite and helpful in every way, housekeeping do a fantastic job and the restaurant staff were perfect. Little things like remembering how you like your eggs at breakfast.
There is a courtesy golf cart that will take you to and from Nana station for the sky train but it's only a five minute walk. Convenient for the shops and attractions.
I would recommend this hotel highly.

Salil Sukhumvit Soi 8 was actually our back-up choice but we were nonetheless very happy with our stay there during the last week of July 2013. We chose this over the other Salil properties as the rooms look newer, this hotel has a lift and is located nearer to the (Nana) BTS station too.

The Superior room was spacious for two persons but as there were three of us and an extra bed, we decided to pay for an upgrade after inspection to their Deluxe room for extra comfort and more space to store our luggage. Their bathroom is huge, almost taking up half of the room! Inside, there is a bathtub and standing shower but no separate partition – not really a big issue since this is quite common in most hotels. The Deluxe room also has a microwave, some plates and bowl, free wifi (very good reception) throughout hotel, mineral water bottles and a safe for keeping all the important documents.

Their breakfast lounge is adjacent to their in-house restaurant and serves an array of local and western selections, including freshly cut fruits, yoghurt from the cereal bar as well as freshly-made pancakes (station located outside the lounge at the patio).

There are a lot of convenience shops, the excellent Terminal 21 mall, eateries and even a local wet market around the corner of the hotel. We really liked the location, although we’d advise against venturing out alone at night as some alleys are not well-lit. The hotel's premise is safe as there are security guards during night time. We also found our hotel’s staff to be polite and helpful, and we’re really happy we stayed here.

Room Tip: Request for rooms on higher floors to avoid street level noise pollution

Saw this hotel on Groupon and bought the deal, hotel was just as good as stated on Groupon. Location wise was a little inconvenient as it is located at the end of the street. but there will be a buggy ready to fetch you out to the streets just right outside of the hotel. BTS station NANA is just right out side the street thus going to any part was fine. there are small pubs located along the streets where you can get a quick drink or two.

Hotel staff are very friendly and services was great. Breakfast was fine as there is a little bit of everything. rooms are equipped with everything even though room is small, they have nice and cozy rooms recommended for the couples.

Would defiantly stay at this hotel the next time i visit BKK.

The staff are very helpful and nice. The hotel is newly built although a small one. But I prefer the Soi 11 one which is situated in more quiet street. While Soi 8 one is situated on the street full of bars. It will suit people like hanging out at night, and will never get bored. There are also nice resturants in certain corner of the street, thai, western, whatever.

I've stayed for 16 days whilst having dental work done.

I recommend the Hotel and its wonderful staff without reservation. It is quiet, neat, well-serviced and well-priced.

It is a very convenient location given the golf buggy ride to the elevated train station which gives access to everywhere in inner Bangkok except the old city. Taxis are not worth using near the hotel except for Sunday, you just sit in a traffic jam. I found it best to take the train to the nearest station and tuk-tuk or taxi from there.

I stayed at the Salil Hotel Sukhumvit soi 8 from 24th to 31st July. I had originally planned to leave on 29th July, but extended two days... One of the reasons I did so was because I felt very comfortable at the Hotel.

I had a standard room on the 3rd floor facing the back of the building. The good things about the room were the lovely wooden frame windows that could be fully opened. The view from the windows was mostly low-rise with some greenery and a few high rise buildings in the middle-distance, a pleasant view. A nice peaceful and quiet room. The bed was comfortable and the internet connection constant and good - there was one period of a couple of hours during the week I was there when I was unable to access the net. It was a simple room, but modern and clean smelling. The two drawbacks were the size of the room, which was a little small for a long stay and would perhaps be too small for a couple, and a problem I had with the shower. Despite the staff coming to look at it, I only managed to have one hot shower during my stay. It wasn't a problem and had I been more insistent I am sure they would have solved the problem.

Hotel Salil is located a long way from the end of soi 8 that emerges onto Sukhumvit Rd next to Nana station. Despite its reputation for being a very sex-dominated location, it's actually a lot more low-key than that. The first 100-200 metres of the soi there are a mixture of bars, coffee bars, restaurants & massage places... then it all thins out and the soi becomes very quiet for the 8 or so minutes stroll to the hotel, and the atmosphere around the hotel is quiet and relaxed. It has a bar open until around 11pm which is pleasant to relax at.

The hotel has a nice quiet golf buggy and will ferry guests to the Sukhumvit end of the soi at any time. I found it nice to sometimes get the golf buggy and others to just stroll down the lane.

Note if you're arriving at the hotel for the first time... the hotel is located a long way back from the end of soi 8 at Sukhumvit Rd... about 1km maybe... you will know you are reaching Salil Hotel when you pass the Sawadee Hotel which is just before it down the lane.

Staff were very relaxed, friendly and accommodating and I would recommend this hotel to travellers who wish to stay in the Sukhumvit area.

I would mention again, that the Superior room size is probably preferable to the standard. I was not at all unhappy with the room, but did feel it was just a little too small.

Room Tip: As I said before, maybe a superior room preferable to a standard. Rooms facing the back of the hotel...

We reserved the hotel through groupon and we were satisfied with the room. The room was clean, get 2 bottles of mineral water and coffee powder daily. Furthermore I do not need to request hair dryer from the staff because it was in the cupboard, and we can put our beverage into the mini fridge, safety box also.
A nice hotel room with basic facilities that included daily breakfast starts from 6.30am.

However, it takes about 5 to 10 min walking distance from nana bts station without gold cart. Hence, it's better to have local sim card to contact the staff that you need a fetch from bts station to the hotel. It's okay if you are enjoy walking and there is two 7-11 convenience shops, massage shops, food stalls along the way to salil
hotel.

A boutique hotel that you can consider when you are in bangkok.
