Le Meridien turned out to be a very chic trendy hotel. Can't fault either the location, cleanliness or anything else. However I found it to be a bit sterile and austere, one didn't feel the need to linger in the lobby at any time. The location was in the middle of the Red Light district but we didn't really care about that because it means you are in the middle of things and within easy reach of the BTS train which means you can go almost anywhere you like in Bangkok.
I loved the city though, it was crazy and busy but strangely clean even after the absolute multitude of humanity passing through it. In fact Bangkok compares very favourably to Phuket which I found to be dirtier and smellier.
The bed at the Meridien was very comfy and the room luxurious. The concierge was very very helpful and directed us to Under the Mango tree, a restaurant in walking difference where the food was glorious as well as the service and the Thai music played nice to see and hear.
Having ticked nightlife it is more in the sense of observing than participating. Plenty of bars nearby, Phatpong market is round the corner and Cool Corner the little coffee place was great to sit and watch the passing parade.
A visit to the temple was a must and a visit to Chatuchak market was an unbelieveable experience as was the trip on the river with a guide to a local floating market.

If you're planning on sharing a room with another person, then only stay here if you're very comfortable with your travel partner. The bathroom has a sliding wall that opens up to the living area and all the doors (including bathroom door, shower door and toilet room door) are sliding. This means whatever noise (or smell) you make in the bathroom will likely be heard (or smelled) through the entire hotel room. Especially considering that the room is on the smaller-side when compared to other 5-star hotels in SE Asia.

Otherwise, great design. The place has a boutique hotel feel to it rather than a big chain. Good in-room amenities including a French press coffee maker and lots of bottled water. The TV channel selection was so-so. Only 30 channels (2-3 movie channels) with delayed response when changing channels. Breakfast was nice but expensive if it's not part of your room rate (about $20/person). Instead, we walked down to the Starbucks which was only about 2 min away (turn left after exiting hotel). Also. there were 5-6 ATM machines (reputable bank) within the vicinity, which was great!

It'll be interesting to see how well Le Meridien will maintain the place. Our room was already showing some age - the wood laminated desk/counter/TV stand was already cracking a little. But for now, this place is not bad with the discount.

This is a slick city hotel, yet staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and make you feel welcome and important from the moment you walk in.

We stayed in a Circular Room on the 22nd floor which was both stylish and comfortable and had great views. Although the hotel is opposite Patpong, it is very quiet and the chic pool area is an oasis.

The restaurants and bar were excellent - with great service and food options.

Overall a great hotel with high standards of service.

Stayed at the Le Meridien for 2 nights. Could turn down a great deal at less than $100 a night. When you walk into the lobby, it's dark but elegant. There's access to the bar on the 2nd level and 3rd level is the restaurant. The lobby also has free wireless internet, but you have to get the userid and password from reception.

The room is nicely appointed. Electric window shades, large in-room safe and at least 6 free bottles of water. There's a large flat panel tv. The in thing now-a-days is to have the bathroom open to the living area. There's a large sliding partition, when open allows anyone soaking in the tub to watch TV. There are also TV speakers in the bathroom.

The 6th floor is where the spa, rooftop pool and fitness center is. The fitness center looks nice, but didn't get a chance to use it. The pool is average size, but good enough to do some laps. There are cabana's and only about a dozen lounge chairs.

Definitely a nice place to stay. Even better if you can find a great deal.
