“Great place to stay for all in Bangkok”
Reviewed 2 November 2012

Lub d is a great place to stay in Bangkok. If you're looking for somewhere which is young and fun but at the same time helpful and clean I highly recommend this hostel.

The staff at Lub d are a real delight I stayed there in the lead up to Halloween and they not only provided great service throughout my stay but also planned an excellent party.

Cause of they way the floors are layed out it's also really quiet in the rooms. so people could be partying downstairs and you can still get a really good nights sleep. which was great for me cause i'm a runner so get up early in the mornings.

Room Tip: I stayed in the female dorm which was lovely but i'm sure all the rooms are great. but there isn...

This hostel was recommended to us by STA travel, as our first point of call we didnt really know what to expect. At first glance the hostel was very busy and the staff were very welcoming, we paid 1000 Baht a night for a twin room as a double was 1400. The room had bunk beds, air conditioning, wifi and a safe, but no TV or fridge and was very basic.
The hostel was well presented as it was new and one we got to know Silom it was very easy to get around with the Skytrain just around the corner. The Hostel offered different social events every night including; cooking classes, pub crawls and meal evenings.
The shared bathroom was clean and quite big too.
Down stairs in the main room were modern computers that had microphones and cameras built in so it was easy to skype, it also had a bar where a variety of drinks and different snack and meals were sold.

To sum up our stay at Lub D was good but we found it was really quite expensive and if we new then what we know now with a bit of experience we would have looked somewhere else.

Hey everyone, I am on my second round the world trip and this is one of the nicests hostels I have stayed at. The beds in the dorm rooms are bigger than what I am used to, which is nice. This is a very social hostel, easy to make quick friends here. You are close enough to the major party area, but you will not be hassled by street vendors here.

I have stayed here before and came back, based on my good experience in 2009. I stayed in a lady's dorm (6 beds) which was very nice. My bed was very comfortable and super clean and not even a bunk bed (2 bunk beds and 2 singles in the room). The room had a window which is not always the case in other hostels...
There are big lockers but be sure to bring your own padlock.
The shared bathrooms are very good and are cleaned regularly. However, I found them just a little bit messy at times (lots of hair, empty toiletries etc) which is more the fault of other girls using it than of the housekeeping staff, I guess. The bath mats are not very hygienic if so many people are stepping on them. The warm water in the shower wasn't too warm, could be improved.
The hostel has a nice common area. A little suggestion - a sofa or lounge chairs would be nice! The breakfast or any other food is just so so...better grab something outside.
The location is quite good: walking distance to Silom/Patpong and 10min away from BTS Chong Nonsi. I walked home from Chong Nonsi alone at night and that felt a bit weird because there aren't many people around and the hostel is in a rather quiet back street. Didn't feel threatened or anything but also not 100% comfortable.
There is a market and some very good Thai restaurants if you continue walking along Silom Rd, just opposite the colorful Hindu temple. However, they had English menus with higher prices (150B for a very good Pad Thai). I guess the Thai menu quotes lower prices.
There are always tuktuk drivers hanging out in front of the hostel - wouldn't go with them. We tried two times and both times they wanted to drive us to jewellery shops etc. so we had to get off the tuktuk again...just wait for a normal taxi to drive by.

I spent three nights at this hostel and I had an excellent time. Rooms are big, good beds, huge lockers, big bathrooms, nice staff, activities during the week, free popcorn at night. So sad I had to leave.

This was our first time in Bangkok and our first time backpacking in SE Asia. We wanted to stay somewhere relatively inexpensive but without having to rough it so early in the trip! Lub d jumped out immediately from the positive reviews here and elsewhere and happily both fulfilled and surpassed our expectations.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the friendly staff who instantly made you feel at home. Our room (an 8 bed dorm) was comfortable and modern, with the added blessing of air con- a welcome addition when acclimatising to the Bangkok heat! The showers are excellent and the free wi fi is a great bonus. After our return from a long day out touring the temples, the bar and outside seating area were an ideal place to chill out with a beer and watch the world go by- one night we had the accompaniment of a member of staff strumming a guitar- extremely pleasant. Though we didn't get chance to take part, there were lots of things organised by the hostel during the week such as a walking tour of the area and a trip to a night club which would be ideal for a lone traveller looking to make friends. Location wise though your not exactly in the thick of things in Silom, close proximity to the sky train station at Chong Nonsi means your easily within distance of the main attractions. Pat pong is a short walk away if that's your cup of tea!

Overall, we were extremely impressed with lub d, and they've set the bar pretty high for the rest of our trip! We'll be heading back through Bangkok in a few months and we'll definitely stay again.

Me and my partner stayed at this hostel for two nights in October. This was our first time in Bangkok and we were recommended to stay there by a travel agency. We stayed in a private double room with en suite. The room was stylish, very clean and the maid came every day to clean and make the beds. The staff at the hostel all speak English and were very helpful from showing us the best places to go to ordering a mc donalds delivery for some others staying there. There's a nice communal area downstairs with tv, games, free internet access, a bar and snacks which is great for meeting other people. Its about 5/10 minute walk from the sky train station and a tuk tuk to khao san is around 100baht. Not too much around the hostel but easy enough to get to other places. However, patpong night market and bars are within walking distance of the hostel.
I would definatley recommend this hostel to others and will be staying there again on my next visit to Bangkok.
