“Nice enough hotel, but Khao San Road not best place to stay.”
Reviewed 14 May 2009

Rikka Inn is pretty much smack bang in the middl of Khao San Road. It's clean, the rooms are fine, maybe a little small but compared to the others we stayed in in Bangkok was the biggest.

The roof top pool is it's main attraction and is lovely. A real refresher especially on those steaming hot Bangkok afternoons! You could easily spend a whole afternoon just relaxing up here to get away from the madness of Khao San Road!

TV channels were pretty basic. Think we only had BBC World News in English, but I guess this is fine if you don't want to spend too much time in the room!

There is also a lift! A rarity in the cheaper hotels which was great!
Would definitely recommend for your first couple of nights in Bangkok.

Rikka Inn is a new backpacker hotel on Khao Sarn Road. It is right next to the famous Buddy Lodge, and we stayed there because Buddy was full and we had not booked. I'm glad we stayed at Rikka, it is very clean, and has a great location from which to experience the chaos of KS Road. It also has a pool which we did not have the time to use.

Rikka is modern, and has a good interned cafe attached. They charge 800 baht per night, and 400 baht for late checkout. Everything must be paid up front and not a minute late and the attitude is a bit annoying even though it may be necessary.

What you get is a room with a table and bed and A/C, with a small bathroom, and not much more. But it is clean, and that's all you can ask at this price and location. I recommend it if you want to stay on Khao Sarn...

The hotel is nice and new so I can't complain about the facilities and the price is nice at 800 baht per night. It was weird that there was no toilet paper when I checked in, and when I called to request it I was told that there wasn't any. When I insisted that I needed some, they told me that it would be there by 3:00. Well, it was noon and I told her that wasn't acceptable. She brought some up to the room maybe 5 minutes later, so I guess they do indeed have toilet paper. I live in Thailand so I am used to lousy service, but usually you pay only 400 baht per night to get it. When the hotel is new and costs 800 baht I expect at least to have toilet paper. Oh, and when they cleaned the room they did not replace the toilet paper- and it was gone.

The hotel appears to be quite new. It is set back from Khaosan Road which is a busy street that becomes noisy at times with activity that lasts nightly until about 2 am. The single rooms I stayed in are clean, neat, comforatable, secure and small but they have all the essentials with air conditioner and television. The wash rooms have hot and cold showers. I paid 600 bahts (about 20 canadian dollars) per night for the single room and 800 bahts (about 27 canadian dollars) for the double room which is larger with double beds and with the same ammenities. The staff is wonderful, friendly and very helpful and speak english. Near to the registration desk are shops like internet use, travel arrangements, pharmacy, 7eleven, etc. There is a swimming pool on the roof of the hotel. This hotel is more expensive than most of the hotels on Khaosan Road. There are security storage boxes and a storage room available.

the service was abyssmal. we stayed there for 3 nights and the room was not cleaned once. with the exception of one receptionist the staff were unhelpful and had a quite frosty attitude. telephone assistance for an onward booking was declined and i was directed next door, although one of the staff did help me with the call after i pleaded for help. the phone seemed to ring constantly for cash payment for the room as there was no card payment facilities. the room itself was ok it was the general attitude of the staff that was the problem. i asked for the owners telephone number to complain personaly but this request was declined. i am not normaly given to complain in this way BUT...

Don't like this hotel. One of reception officers really is not polite (I think rather rude for Thailand). Rooms looks worse then on hotel photos there are no cupboards and even cloths hangers...
