“Close to the airport”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

Very close to the Suvarnabhumi Airport, about 10 minutes' drive. Taxi from the airport to the hotel was around 80B plus 50B surcharge, by meter. The hotel can arrange shuttle charges 150B one way. I totally suggest that you use their shuttle service on your way TO the airport rather than from the airport, as I heard that you might need to wait for a long time. However, we did book their shuttle from the hotel to the airport and it seems the van runs every one hour, which you can check it once you've reach the hotel. It was very convenient because it was hard to get a taxi.
Their room was clean and quite, staff were not bad. There are some convenient store nearby as Tesco Lotus express, 7-11 and mini Big C where you can by some snacks and water. The hotel offered two bottles of water for free, by the way. We booked this hotel as we had a morning flight to catch. It was a good choice if you only stay there for transfer.
However, their beds were a bit small, and shower water was just warm, not hot enough.

Room Tip: They can help you to carry your bags so it's ok if you stay upper stairs. Just remember to tip t...

Around 15 minutes from the airport this place is OK for the odd night if you arrive late or leave early from Bangkok.
Rooms are basic and the extra bed we paid for was only suitable for a young child, the bathroom had a crude shower but was clean.
No boiling water available in the rooms to make a hot drink, the only way is from a machine located near reception on the ground floor.
English skills are limited, especially at breakfast

Room Tip: Rooms at the back a little quieter

The hotel is pretty basic but rooms are spacious and feature TV, Air con and a big bed. Staff are on hand to organise airport transfers and recommend local amenities. the hotel features a good massage parlour and a free internet cafe. Perhaps the best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the local evening market. This kicks off around 2pm, and features a host of food stalls serving up authentic Thai street food. You can spend hours walking round and the only Westerners you'll see are other hotel guests, so this truly is authentic Thailand.

We spent the first night of our trip in mid-December as our plane arrived at 11pm, and also spent the last night of our trip in mid-January before a mid-morning departure. It's a 10-15 minute ride in the shuttle to/from the airport, much closer than downtown Bangkok (and far from the protests, which turned out to be a good thing). The shuttle rides were included in the cost of the room as was a decent set breakfast of eggs, toast, sausage, fruit, coffee/tea. The sign at the hotel said rides were 150 baht, but no one asked us to pay either direction, so it might depend on the grade of room you book, or how you book it.

It's not fancy but great value for the money -- we paid about $16/night, booking one night via expedia.com and the other via agoda.com. The room is basic but good-sized. The beds are super-firm, which was typical throughout SE Asia, but all the plumbing and lights worked.

There were employees everywhere ready to open doors, carry bags, and so on. There are three convenience stores and a night market close to the hotel.

The pick-up point at the airport seems to be the one everyone uses -- on level two (which is the level you're on when you come out of customs), by door number four, to the right of the customs exits. You have to tell the hotel in advance that you want a pickup, and the flight and arrival time, and you'll be put on a list. When you arrive, find the pick-up point, where there's a railing by the windows to the right of the door. We told one of the people behind the railing that the Silver Gold Garden hotel is picking you up; they found (well, actually I found) our name on the list, and asked us to wait 15 minutes just across the hall. The person we talked to found us when the van arrived and escorted us and our luggage to the van at the curb outside; very easy.

We are currently staying at the hotel now. Pick up was where they said it would be in a very prompt email reply to us when we advised them when we were coming in. Level two, "gate" four (it's really an exit door with the number four above it. We asked someone in the area if they knew if the Silver gold person was there and she got him and we left within five minutes. Staff carried all luggage in and were excellent. We actually were not even booked for that night as we had all our plane travel postponed one day due to weather. They honored our hotels.com booking from the previous night. Bed are hard. Get used to it in thailand. Clean. They have a really cool local pop up market on Thursday nights across the street including food, bouncy castles for the kids and tons of everything. Fun! Laundry services and wifi for 100thb for 15 hours of use. Taking the free shuttle back to the airport tomorrow to fly to Phuket. Would recommend for one or two nights. Tesco, 7-11 a few feet away as well.

Plain and simple but clean. Staff are friendly enough but it's a lucky dip to find one who is helpful. It was perfect for $16 for one night for two people. Shuttle van runs between the airport and the hotel for 150B every half hour between sometime early morning and evening. Breakfast isn't anything fancy. Toast, eggs, cheap orange juice and coffee. If you don't need a stunning place to stay and are needing accommodation close to Suvanarbhumi Airport it does the job. Too far out of Bangkok for a long stay though. Would recommend.

Stayed here again in Dec 2013. We always use this hotel for arrivals and departures to Thailand, although this time, Dept only.
It is always good, the pick up and drop off airport shuttle is great, the hotel rooms are very good for the outstanding cost they charge, and the location is great with Tesco, Big C, an 7/11 all next to the hotel along with the afternoon/evening market.
The hotel cafe is very cheap too, we will always use this hotel as it always does what it says on the box. The staff are also always very helpful too.

Room Tip: No lift, so if you don't like stairs ask for 1st floor room, which is really the groud floor.
