“New, comfortable, friendly, but (for better and worse) away from main streets”
Reviewed 13 December 2010

My room and bathroom were small and modern. Furnishings, towels, TV, etc., were very new and the place is kept exceptionally clean. Because the rooms are small, I wouldn't recommend Mayfair to extremely long-term guests, or those who want lots of room to stretch. For me, the niceness of the room made up for the size. The staff are typical Thai friendly and helpful. I asked a few questions of them - including where to get business cards printed, muy thai fighting, and they quickly got on the phone and got me specific answers. In addition to free wireless, there's also a computer in the lobby.

A highlight: the spa next door is great - friendly, clean. In addition to being very affordable already, hotel guests receive an additional discount. A 2 hour Thai massage there cost less than a 1 hour massage most other places in Bangkok.

The location is the best and the worst part of Mayfair Suites. It's down a side street, about a four minute walk from a main street, and ten-fifteen minute walk from the Sky Train. That makes it much, much quieter, with no street noise at all to ruin my slumber. And also makes it more difficult to get a taxi. The staff will help and get a taxi for you, it takes a couple minutes. They also offer a free tuk tuk to the main road or Sky Train, but the tuk tuk was broken through part of my stay.

I was attacted to the hotel by an amazing rate that was only available from the hotels website (1350 Bht). This was low for this area of Bangkok, but also the location near the new CityLink train station and the cleanliness shown in the photos helped with the decision.
The hotel is located down a side street, and although on a map, is close to the Phaya Thai BTS/CityLink stations, in reality, due to one-way streets and no access, it was a good 15 min walk (not recommended if you are carrying luggage). The hotel advertises a free Tuk-Tuk, but its limited to taking you to the main road and will not come as far as the BTS station. We got a taxi from the Citylink tain station, which will cost 50 Bht if you insist they use the meter.
If you do book here, you would be advised to get directions (in Thai) to the hotel off the website in advance, so as you can show to the taxi drivers - not many know of this hotel.
The location can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your views. The side street location means there is no crowds or hassle outside the hotel, and no traffic noise, although some rooms overlook the railway so you will hear the occasional slow train coming through. The hotel is about 5 mins from the main Pratunam shopping centres, and the computer geeks favourite, Pantip Plaza. Jumping on the free Tuk-tuk to save a 5 min walk works well, but it has to be called for if you want to do the same on your return.
The rooms were spotless and well appointed, and when I visited, viritually all of the refurb work had been finished. The lobby is small, but functional with a free internet termnal in reception. There is also a small business centre adjacent, and the hotel has free WiFi on every floor.
Breakfast was quite good for a buffet and replenished fairly regularly. There is also a small bar.
The staff were very friendy and helpful.
In summary, the hotel offers everything that a larger hotel would, but on a smaller scale and more personal level. Unless you want the hubbub of larger establishments, and dont mind a side steet location, then I would recommend this fully.

Best Western Mayfair Bkk is conveniently located at Pratunam center, a bit far from the maddening crowd of the busy shopping area, so it gives you a little privacy. You have to do a bit of walking to get to the shopping street (near Baiyoke Sky) but the hotel has free tuktuk service to get you to several locations near the hotel. You can call the hotel once you’ve done shopping and ask for a pick-up. The only thing I don’t understand is why they refused to send me to Phya Thai BTS station but to First Hotel to get to Ratchatewi station instead. If you get other tuktuk service, prepare to pay around 40/50 Baht from Baiyoke Sky area to the hotel.

On the first night, we had trouble sleeping because of the noisy aircond & god, it was seriously leaking!! The next morning, we told the front desk staff & she promised to send someone to check on it. Fortunately, the nights after the problem fixed, we sleep soundly. The deluxe room is spacious, it has super king bed & a bathtub in the bathroom.

The rate 1,450 Baht we get includes daily breakfast for two but we can’t dine there because it’s not for Muslim. My non-Muslim friends said that the breakfast was excellent and eating at the hotel is highly recommended and most convenient.

The hotel spa is very small, but always fully booked. I managed to try the facial treatment & it was good. The price is reasonable, considering that it’s conveniently located at the hotel. I suggest one can get the massage service in the evening, & get back to room straightaway to get a seriously good night sleep.

Best western Mayfair suite is the best hotel for travelers having a short trip, want to spend lot of time doing shopping and sightseeing, while not wanting to pay 5 star rates for accommodation. We will definitely come back again if we were travelling Bangkok and yes, we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for 2 days on 24th - 26th November, 2010 during our trip to Bangkok and Phuket.

We selected this hotel mainly because of it's low prices and good reviews on TripAdvisor.

We booked a superior room from their website and the transaction was smooth. The check-in process was smooth as well.

The rooms were little cramped but it had all necessary amenities.

I found the staff very nice, welcoming and friendly. Especially the front desk staff was excellent. They helped me plan my trip to different temples and provided all necessary guidance.

The hotel is located near by SARL station Phaya-Thai. So reaching there from airport is not difficult. The location is a little inside the lane and we felt little unsafe to walk there at night. But the hotel provides tuk-tuk facility to shuttle between main road. We utilized it well. It was readily available all the time we requested.

We really did not enjoy the break-fast much as it has very limited choices specifically for vegetarians.

The hotel provides free internet service and there are 2 machines located at the reception area.

Overall it was a good budget hotel and recommended if you are planning to spend most of the time shopping and sight-seeing and will use hotel only for bed and break-fast purpose.

very conveniently located to all the shopping malls..........about 7 min walking distance from indra market but tucked away in a small lane from the hustle and bustle.they have a free tuk tuk service to drop and pick you up from the market , but sometimes it is done with a frown by the valet......

rooms are very small , barely enough space for two people to move but they were very clean and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job, friendly staff . food was cheap at the hotel. breakfast got monotonous after a while but was of good quality...has a laundromat and store behind the hotel.free and hi-speed wi fi in the rooms, basic gym on the roof and a deck too where you can chill with a drink or two ...overlooking the baiyoke sky.
10min walk to the sky train station.
all in all a good, economical place to stay if you're going to be out of the room most of the day.

Mayfair Suites is a nice new quiet hotel - we stayed there for a day. We booked superior room for about $43, it was a nice clean room with shower, hairdryer, electric kettle, small fridge and TV. For late checkout ( we left the hotel at 7 pm) we paid additionally 500 baht (approx. $17). Free Internet is available at reception. Staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast was OK, too. Great thing about the hotel is that it is not too far from Baiyoke Sky Hotel and shopping area, so we walked there when we had free time. However, the location of the hotel is not so good because it is quite far from the main road, so we got lost when we arrived lol. Someone of reviewers mentioned Sky train, so we used it, too; we took City Line train from Airport to terminal Phaya Thai station. Tickets cost 15 baht per person (the fare will change in January). When we lighted down from the train, we milled around for half an hour but could not find a soy that we needed so we finally gave up and took Tuk-tuk for 50 baht and in 5-7 minutes we were at the hotel's doorstep.

Location - Because it is not on the main road, we appreciate that it's quiet and away from the madding crowd. The free tuk tuk service is always available at our beck and call, and sends us near to Platinum Mall, Pratunam Street Market and within 10 minutes walk away from the BTS. When we call for the Tuk Tuk service from our drop-off point, the Tuk Tuk will appear within a 5 to 10 minutes. We are very satisfied with the arrangement - except of course whenw we couldn't find a working public telephone - which happened on one occasion (not a fault of the hotel!).

Service - Great, attentive service. The third bed had a hard mattress and though it took a few calls to get them to replace it, they finally got a really nice and comfortable mattress which resulted in a few good night's sleep throughout our stay. Most of the hotel staff have very nice smiles and are very hospital - most notably Chawalit (Manager), Rachpol N. James, Benjamas M. and Nattapong (Front Desk).

Food - The food at the hotel's sole restaurant is so good that we found ourselves eating there almost every meal time. The breakfast is excellent and they keep refilling it while we were there - loved the Caesar Salad! The Western fare and Tom Yam gung were great and reasonably priced. Eating at the hotel is highly recommended and most convenient!

Value - Really good value for money especially when our stay is packaged with free 2-hour Thai massage (excellent!) and a half-day tour to the Floating Market (a must-visit!).

Yes, we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.
