The Regent Silom Hotel

Reviewed 9 June 2014

I use to stay in this hotel 2 times. It's definately great location indeed. Everything is just walking distance. Sound great rite ..
BTS station (Sala Daeng) just a minute walk from the hotel lobby. MRT (Silom) with covered pedestrian walk take you less than 5 minutes walking. Everything you can find here, u just name it! Super awesome!
Price range for the room in my opinion a bit over priced ( as per star rating rate hotel) maybe just because a great location but quite expensive.
Turn to their staff hospitality, it's just ok! No worries, what i mean just ok! Is because i dont have any specific requested or problem during my stay. So, nothing much i can write about it!
Here is a few tourist area u can find around this hotel in just walking distance.
1- Silom Night market ( massive traffic every day) good for bargain.
- note: love this night market u can find a quality stuff with good price.
Trust me!!
2. Jim Thomson Silk Boutique
- location is in. Surawong Road area. Near to Crown Plaza Hotel.
3. Silom Complex
- you can find local store/ boutique to shop. Interesting stuff/ clothing.
4. Street Food
- you can find good stuff to eat along the silom street. My favourite area
Eat in silom street area is nearby standard chatered ( previously use
To be california fitness) opposite silom soi 4. Its so tempting i can't
Stop thinking about it. Another street food area is at. Surawong road
Area near Le Meridien Hotel.
5. Pat Pong Night Market
- once you in bangkok, this is a must night market to visit. Just next to
Silom night market.
Note: there is many more interesting around this area. Great location.

Since I do love Silom road, this hotel was perfect location for me. Just steps to Saladaeng sky train stations, Central saladaeng shopping mall, MRT station, Silom night life, Pat pong etc. A bit noise at the night, but still tolerable.
Room is big, and nice and strong shower. If you stay at this hotel got 10% off for Massage. Simple breakfast, but it's ok since i am not choosy for break fast. Will stay again at this hotel for sure, when i visit Bangkok again.

Room Tip: Corner must better.

Location is ok if you interested in shopping...otherwise great value hotels are available in better locatons... Rooms are reasonable....
Old hotel WiFi speed not good... Breakfast too limited and too less in quantity...You can get better hotels with great breakfast in same price range... Hotel staff tries to charge too high for services.... I wanted taxi for Pattaya and got quoted 2500 THB from hotel and I got taxi for 1100 THB right in front of hotel door...The money exchange on the left side of hotel door gave the worst rate during my whole stay in Thailand. Not recommended... Better go to Sukhumvit area in same price with much better facilities.

Room Tip: not recommended

Price - Rating: 2/5. Given the price, you can get a better quality room/hotel nearby. Cost 1,500baht. The bathroom is super small and problem with the toilet flush.

Friendliness of staff - Rating: 4/5. Receptionist/Front Desk is quite friendly and helpful.

Cleanliness - Rating: 2/5. The room has no window, hence there is a smell in the room. However, the bed is tidy.

Location - Rating: 5/5. Location is perfect. Easy access to Saladaeng (less than 30secs walk) skytrain (BTS), and Silom MRT station (in 2mins walk) and many taxis around.

Food/Cafe: Rating: 3/5. Average breakfast.

Plus Points:
1. Free WiFi

Demerit:
1. No window (with window would be a different price)

Booked to stay at Regent 14th & 15th Jan 2014. After finally finding to place, you go thru a small glass door next to a big massage parlour and walk up a narrow passage full of "massage"girls to get to reception, the first thing I was told is you get 10% off massages. The reception lady was quite nice and took me to the lift and pressed to 3rd floor button. the lift was so small we both couldn't fit in!! I open the door to the room and thought "you have to be joking". Double bed, old bench and wooden chair and a price list telling you how much you have to pay if you broke anything. The shower has a small water heater on the wall, so no luxurious long showers. The TV next door could be clearly heard. I used the toilet, picked up my bags and left! This place is clearly a short time hotel used for taking bar girls to for a quickie. An experience but one I could do without. A perfect example of how web sites can be so misleading. You can't polish a turd!!

Advantage: This hotel is in good location. Adjacent to both BTS and MRT stations. There some eateries around the hotel or street foods and night Bazzar and the Lumpini park was just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. Beautiful park with beautiful pond and views. They have Free breakfast.

Disadvantage: It is very confusing to find this hotel, when you are outside you can't easily find the entrance because the door going inside is too small. So you have to really good in finding it. The staffs are not the friendly people i have ever met but they were ok. We were kinda' disappointed of the room, too small for the money we paid. Bathroom was ok too. The only problem we had was they didn't have enough outlet to charge our phone or computers. What we did was we unplugged the refrigerator every time we charged our gadgets so we ended up having our drinks (water/juices) not cold. Wifi was slow. The bedroom was not built up for sound proof so you can hear voices outside our room. Very noisy as well as the AC that you can't sleep. The safety deposit box wasn't working and unfortunately, we put our important stuffs there to find out we can't open it. But they fixed it on the next day and got our important things back.

If we will comeback to Bangkok in the future, not gonna stay in this place again.
