We ended up here after falling for the taxi / travel agent con and it cost us about £5 a night extra in commission . The guys are just trying to earn a few quid, but its better to deal direct with the hotel and haggle at the check in desk . We paid about £22 for the room, per night on our second visit. The first room we were given was tired, small and stuffy . Really disappointing . We were given better room without any fuss and although decor needs updating , it was comfortable and clean with en-suite shower and toilet, decent air con , tv and fridge with snacks and drinks. The pool area was great, with plenty of sunbeds and clean pool . It felt like a peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. There's a waiter service for drinks and good value meals and snacks. Breakfast area is clean, buffet style with a varied choice, some things have to be ordered freshly cooked , bacon, eggs etc. but service is very prompt. Beds and towels are changed regularly. After our initial disappointment we grew to really like the place , so much so, that we returned after a trip to Cambodia. All in all it is a little tired , but it's really good value for money , and, well located, near to the river , skytrain etc. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it for travelers on a smaller budget .

We stayed in this hotel which is a bit out of town bit close to the taxi boat ferry. The rooms are ok but we were on the 4th floor.... No elevator, not fun with luggage. You have to pay for wifi and the front desk personnel are rude. During the night there is construction on the hotel and it will keep you up ALL night! You can't leave the hotel with out the taxi drivers and tuk tuk drivers hassling you witch is annoying. Also, hot water is only turned on at certain times during the day and night. A bit inconvenient.

The hotel was OK but jut a bare bones place to stay. I would stay somewhere else in the future.

The basic rule of thumb is you get what you pay for, I was tied to this area for a conference but did not want to pay the Sheraton price, but nevertheless, it was not overall good value . The rooms are clean and small, hot water and basic breakfast, so that is fine and if you are never in the hotel then its not a bad deal. Its the little things that got to me and why I will not go back, 2 hrs free wifi a day makes no sense, you have to beg for the coupons which are controlled from the front desk. Likewise, the breakfast coupons are controlled from the desk, even if you stay for a few nights, you still have to go and ask each morning for the coupon, its ridiculous. Also the Swan hotel now has the honour of having the worst check in experience I have ever had, it was comical. I arrived at 11.30pm,to a grunt and a form thrown at me from the night shift guy, and then threw the key across the table and still did not make eye contact with me, and I agree with previous comments about unfriendly staff, it was shocking...... Still if you have nowhere else to stay.... this will do.......

rooms are a nice size, they are ageing but clean and more than adequate. breakfast is solid with fresh fruit assorted local food and even bacon and eggs. pool is fantastic and for tourists everything is within reach, even the main railway station is just a brisk 25 minute walk away.
there are a multitude of tourist attractions close by.

Room Tip: bigger rooms have a road view and smaller rooms have a pool view

Very poor, staff unfriendly, food basic, location poor, harrased outside by tuc tucs, never again, seemed like a backstreet seedy hotel in the middle of nowhere.I stayed in this hotel at the recommendation of a travel agent who i now wish had never met. Ruined last night in Bangkok.Should have went back to my first hotel the Novotel.

Room Tip: maybe pool view would soften the blow.

The Swan is ideal for those who want a budget hotel that is close to the Oriental pier. However, my single room had no natural daylight and felt claustrophobic. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is adequate. It is very much 'You get what you pay for'.

Room Tip: Beware if you prefer a single room. Make sure it has a window. Mine was on the 3rd floor and there i...

Well worth considering for a short or long stay in Bangkok. Convenient location for river trips and the mass transit train into the shopping district. Room was 'no-frills' but adequate, and breakfast buffet was pretty good. All this for $40/day for two people...great value
