I recently had surgery in the Bumrungrad International Hospital which is nearby to the Ariyasomvilla Hotel; and even though I was recovering whilst there I have to say that I wouldn't have wanted to recover anywhere else!

The surroundings are just so amazingly beautiful- indoors and out, and the staff were so friendly- always smiling and so attentive and this made for a very enjoyable and relaxing post-op period for me...thankfully!

Our room was pure luxury and the food was to die for...and very healthy which was a bonus!

We are already planning a return and look forward to seeing David and his happy and helpful staff again in the near future.

We wish them the very best of luck!

a true oasis in the middle of a chaotic Bangkok. Beautiful rooms with great design and a very special atmosphere of serenity and calm. However the very welcoming and relaxed attitude among the staff made it very suitable for the kids despite the calm surrounding. I will definitely come back regardless if it is business och leisure

brilliant, arrived well frazzled from UK, became well soothed in 24 hours. Quiet considering the location, an outdoor massage in the garden/spa only had a hint of traffic noise. Attentive staff but no corporate cringing. David, the manager/boss is quietly hands-on. The mainly veg restaurant was not as amazing as some have said but still worth a detour, espcially if you are a veg foodie who likes more than a couple of tired staples on the menu.
the room was huge duplex with a great bathroom.
wonderful

Noisy hectic Bangkok vanishes the minute you enter the grounds of this special oasis that truly becomes a home away from home. We've stayed here 6 times and never been disappointed. It just gets better. Nothing pertaining to comfort & beauty escapes the watchful eyes of these very hands-on gracious considerate owners/hosts. The convenient location is an added plus but why go anywhere unless you have to!

A great place to stay with beautiful rooms which are original and 5 star. Certainly a classy place better than a 5 star hotel with the usual predictable layouts. Great service especially the room cleaners who left the place immaculate. Any clothes I left out were neatly folded. The fridge was stocked daily with with two free bottles of water and juice which really was a nice touch when you cam in from a long day of sight seeing. The pool and grounds are are lovely and you do not feel you are in the city. The food and service were equally very good. The owner was around on most days and very welcoming ensuring his guests were being well looked after. A good location to sight see from and also to relax. The onsite spa looked really nice and wish I had time to try it.

If you can find this hotel the worst is behind you. We were driving a rental car which is pretty much a mistake in Bangkok. Take a cab. The small, artsy hotel is hidden at the end of a tiny street. The owner David met us at the door and was first interested in getting us relaxed after a harrowing drive thru the city. He then sat us for dinner and chose some of his favorite dishes and wine for us. The room we had was one of only 2 suites. It was amazing but the bedroom was up in a loft and we found it HOT. Bed was hard. Other than that the building was fascinating, pool a delight and food exceptional. It is an old structure that has been updated and decorated with a flair. Staff was helpful and attentive. They suggested that we return the car and take a cab to the airport which we did. Good thing, because at 4 in the morning we did not see where we would have dropped a rental anyway. The rates aren't cheap but if you compare them to the big high rises along the river this beats them hands down!! Much more our style and fellow travelers seemed to know what was up. Just get good directions before you go. Cabs, sky train or Tuk-Tuks were best way to get around the city.

I wish we could've stayed longer than the two nights we were there for. The rooms are beautiful, especially the bathrooms. We were in a studio (the lowest priced option) and we still had a tub big enough for two and a nice shower with stones in front of it (two large ones for you to put your feet on when you get in and out of the shower). The A/C worked brilliantly, which is a major plus in the hot Bangkok heat. As others have said, the soi the hotel is located on looks sketchy at night, but it really is just fine. The breakfasts at the hotel are plentiful (I loved the orange juice, fresh fruit, especially the papaya, faux sausage, the croissants and wheat toast, the jam spreads, and the eggs--the fake bacon was on the bland side, the "Hollandaise" sauce wasn't great, and my husband didn't love his pancakes) and amazingly, free. The service at breakfast is also great. I'm usually a mushy bed person, but these harder mattresses were heavenly, as were the linens. And we were so pleased that someone came out and helped us with our luggage, even though we arrived at 1 AM. They replenish your water each day, which is also a must-have amenity in Bangkok. And both the indoor restaurant and outdoor eating option by the pool are beautiful--we're sad we didn't get to enjoy dinner there.

My tiny complaints: We were on the ground floor and our neighbors took advantage of the outdoor sitting area. We heard every word they said, even though we wanted to keep sleeping. The outdoor sitting area on the ground floor also doesn't have dividers between rooms, even though higher floors do. It's also mosquito-infested back there, but thanks to the hotel's free citronella bug repellent, I didn't get a single bug bite. It'd be nice if there were more than one bathrobe in each room (maybe this was just an oversight because there were two sets of slippers). The BTS skytrain is very convenient for getting to the sites and it's an easy walk (walk down the soi to the main street, Sukhumvit, make a left and keep walking until you hit the sky train), but it's a bit of a hike to get to from the hotel, at least 15 minutes. But it's doable if you're in good health.

Tip: the hotel is at the very end of the soi. Our cab driver couldn't find it, even with a map, but just tell yours to keep going until he can't go anymore, and then you'll walk through a driveway type area to get to the lobby.

Another tip: Check out the water bus right in the back of the hotel. We didn't get to take advantage of it, but it's a mere 13 baht to the old city.
