“Beautiful Haven within Bangkok”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2011

We stayed at the Ariyasomvilla twice during our trip to Thailand (at the beginning and the end). The first time we stayed there we got updated to the most wonderful room - it was 2 storeys, had two living rooms, incredible windows and a wonderful bathroom. The hotel is secluded within a luscious garden - at the end of a sort of back alley leading to a hospital. The pool and the gardens make you feel like you are miles away from Bangkok. It is very refreshing given the city that surrounds you. The breakfast which was included with the room was delicious - with a great number of options. The restaurant was very good - with incredibly tasty vegetarian options. We happened to be during New Year's Eve and they had a traditional musician playing by the pool during dinner, which was very lovely. On our 2nd stay, we got a normal (but very nice) room. The only small problem with the room was that one of the walls facing the hallway was translucid and you could see the hallway light in your room (making the room very bright and hard to sleep). The light does turn off after 11pm. But we were really tired and had wanted to go to sleep earlier.
The hotel is far from the major sights and the historic district (Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun, etc) and Bangkok's public transportation system leaves much to be desired. However, if you are interested in shopping (big shopping malls) and nightlife, the location is ideal.

In the middle of this very busy city is an oasis of an hotel that we loved returning "home" to after a busy day sightseeing. Even better than our home in the US, as we don't have a pool, spa and restaurant. We appreciated the intimacy of this 24 room hotel rather than walking through a big lobby. We relaxed around the lap pool which is surrounded by trees, palms and flowers. You feel as though you were far away from the city when you're actually two blocks from the Sky Train.

I had a one night stopever in Bangkok on my way home.

I arrived at midday on teh Monday and was able to book in without a problem. Was taken to my room through lush gardens, past a library and up some stairs in what was more like an old homestead or college dorm.

The rooms were small but completely adequate, stylish and well kept.

The location is off Soi 1 in Sukhumvit and so it gave easy access to the area and skyrail.

The breakfast by teh pool was first class (they even had vegemite for us Aussies). Scrambled eggs, and mushrooms, fresh juice, excellent coffee and newspapers.

My flight wasn't until midnight but storing my luggage was no prolem and after a full day exploring Bangkok, I was able to take a shower in teh day spa and freshen up before my flight.

Hard to go wrong here!

Am still in the hotel and it truly does have a feel of living with relatives. The rooms are very well decorated and the food in their in-house restaurant (breakfast and dinner) is one of the best i've tasted in any hotel. Like what everyone has said, it gives you serenity in a midst of bustling Bangkok

Service is very good as the entire staff is out to help you out. Massage is also a must try!

The only point of concern is that the walk to nearest BTS is not that near especially if you are with children but you'll get used to it.

Overall well above what i expected as I thought other comments were just exaggerated-- apparently they were quite accurate.

Being the third time in a couple of months in the Ariyasomvilla should speak for itself....it's not only a terrific, outstanding and unique place to stay in sizzling Bangkok, it's a magic and tranquil hideaway with soul and character! The heart of this wonderful hidden gem in Sukhumvit Soi 1 is one of the most welcoming hosts I ever met: David !
He is taking care with tremendous passion and it feels like visiting friends being in the Ariyasomvilla.I've spent my birthday there with my friends and I will never forget the ambiance, the special birthday dinner David offered and the great laughs we had alltogether.Beside this very special evening, thank you to all the staff members of taking care of us and making our stay unforgettable. If you are a looking for a very special place to stay, far away from all the mainstream 5-star sheratonesque style, you should try this wonderful boutique hotel, the amazing ambiance of the rooms and fantastic food in Na Aroon Restaurant. We will be back soon!!! We were recommended to stay at this hotel by a friend and were not disappointed - we cannot find fault with anything - David (owner) was exceptional, his recommendations re food were faultless, and his desserts - well, they were wonderful! we would not want to stay anywhere else when visiting Bangkok - it is really central and not to far from the airport.

I have one night remaining here at this hotel and am compelled to write a review. I choose this place based on a friend's recommendation. After surgery at Bumrungrand, I needed a place to relax, rest and recover. This place is perfect. A little gem at the end of the soi where as soon as you enter you are taken away from the hustle of Bangkok. The staff are eager and attentive and will go out of there way to help you. David, the manager is suited to hospitality, mingling with the guests dining around the pool and ensuring all feel comfortable. The food is excellent with breakfast being the standout. This for me is perfect. If you are after something where you can kick back in between the full noise of bangkok, then this is it.
