“Peaceful Tranquility”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

This is the nicest hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are lovely, the staff even better. While only a short walk from central Bangkok it is at the end of a small road and apart from the noise of a water bus in the canal behind it is very peaceful. The owner David is always on hand and makes a point of talking to the guests, he also makes a mean chocolate tart, to help when needed and just generally been a wonderful host. If ever in Bangkok again this will be my first choice of hotel.

Room Tip: It is a vegetarian restaurant so no real meat but does serve fish.

This is a lovely boutique hotel to stay in Bangkok if you are looking for a place to unwind within. The gardens, pool area and rooms are all very nice. It's a 10 minute walk from Phloen Chit BTS station down the end of the somewhat lonely Soi 1 in Sukhumvit, you can easily walk to Central World too for shopping (and lots of yummy food on level 7). Stick with the Thai breakfast, and you'll have a great stay.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the canal are quieter.

First of all I have to apologise to David and his staff for NOT staying at the Ariyasomvilla in April 2011 but foolishly choosing the Lebua State in the mistaken belief it would be more "glamorous". We put that right by returning to Soi 1's hidden charm between Christmas and New Year. Smiling staff, a charming Mein Host, peace and tranquillity, great food, relaxed atmosphere and discreet friendliness. I will not be staying anywhere else in Bangkok ever again!

Room Tip: The place was full so we had entry level studio rooms which are more than adequate both for couples...

we arrived in bangkok tired from the flight and this is a little haven in the middle of Bangkoks chaos. The location is perfect, right near the sky train and away from the disgustingly touristy Khao San road.
Our room as amazing, huge 4 poster bed, lovely bathroom (bath and shower) fridge, a whole other sitting room and balcony overlooking the pool.
The owner David (i think?) is very friendly and happy to help with advice, as are the staff. The restaurant food was wonderful (all vegetarian) and not too expensive, they also have western puddings which looked yummy but we didn't try.
The pool is lovely and also has a jacuzzi. Its surrounded by lush green vegetation which means it doesn't get the sun all day but who wants to sunbathe all day anyway when you have bangkok to explore.

Room Tip: we had the room over the reception area which was massive!

We stayed 2 nights as the first part of our honeymoon and could not have chosen a more perfect Bangkok hotel. Firstly the hotel instantly welcomes and relaxes you following the inevitable strains of the city. Then there is an attention to detail in service, quality of food, clean rooms and the shared areas. Finally what a pleasant change to have a real host who makes a point to come and talk to you, advise you and welcome you.
The food deserves special mention, the breakfasts are just amazing and the standard continues throughout the day.
This place is probably not for those who like the corporate chains but more for those who like charm and recognize the finer points in life.

What can I add to what other reviewers have said.? This small hotel is an absolute delight in every way and I would never dream of staying anywhere else in Bangkok. Sadly we were only there for one night, but it was a pleasure to meet David, who made us feel like part of the family. The apple crumble (made by David) was iconic and the Spa was lovely. Many thanks to everyone at the Ariyasomvilla for a relaxing, delightful stay. The library is such a lovely peaceful room and there is free use of an excellent computor, not to mention a great selection of books,
