“A boutique gem”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

Just back from our trip to Thailand. My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this fantastic small hotel. It was just as it is described on Tripadvisor. If you have been sightseeing the whole day in Bangkok coming back to Ariyasomvilla was a relaxing treat. I have to say though we got a room the first night on the ground floor facing the river and there are taxiboats going by frequently and they are loud. Unfortunately there were also roosters around the corner so if you are a light sleeper make sure you do not get these rooms. We asked to change and were accomodated. Got a fantastic room beautifully decorated and away from the noice. The food was delicious and vegetarian. Had a great thai massage. The skytrain is a short walk from the hotel. The staff takes care of you the thai way, always smiling and helpful. Would go back to this hotel again. I prefer smaller exclusive hotels instead of big shiny skyscrapers.

We spent 4 nights at the Ariyasomvilla in May 2012 and were very happy to stay there, as the house is located 10 minutes walk from the BTS station and is a beautiful old Bangkok house. After a few hours in the frenetic city, you enter an oasis of calm and peacefulness. We had room 110 which is in front of the swimming pool. The room was tastefully decorated and the bathroom was immense with a great spa-bathtub.
We enjoyed the spa (outdoor) and had two massages, that were great. The pool is perfect and it is a nice way to relax after a day in the busy streets and monuments of the Thai capital.
What we really liked a lot was the restaurant. Ariyasomvilla's restaurant is a vegetarian gourmet restaurant and the food was excellent. They have traditional Thai dishes with all kind of tofus, vegetables and vegi-meat. They have some fish and sea-food dishes that are excellent as well.
The hotel is the quintessence of boutique hotel with a personal and friendly touch. It is the antithesis of a huge 5 stars corporate kind of hotel and that was exactly what we were looking for.
I would like to add that there was a problem during the first night with the A/C unit in our room, and although they couldn't fix it, the staff did all they could to repair the unit as quickly as possible and eventually we moved in another room for that night and the unit was fixed the next day. This kind of problem can occur unexpectedly and I must say that they dealt it with a great sense of service, quickly and very politely. Therefore, even if our first night was not the best, we spent 4 great days in this little oasis of calm in the middle of this lively city.

Sitting peacefully at the end of a bustling "no through" side street near one of Bangkok's busiest districts is a quiet mansion surrounded by lush greenery and small gardens. We stayed at this jewel of a guest house for two days, left for Cambodia, then returned for two days. Very welcoming, helpful staff, tasteful and comfortable rooms (ask for room 211 overlooking the pool - it has a separate living room), wonderful home-made or locally sourced food, an English owner/manager who takes a personal interest in the guests, free wi-fi. An antidote to the heat and humidity of the city, and as much personal pampering as you want. Not cheap, but much better value than the international hotels. Well situated for the airport and close to the skytrain.

Room Tip: Room 211 has a separate sitting room and TV. If you do not like the "swish" of the commute...

We spent three nights in Bangkok on a trip to Indonesia. This little but certainly outstanding hotel is located in the center of Bangkok (near Sukhumvit Rd.) but one doesn't feel this at all.
The staff are extremely friendly and more than helpful. The food in the small restaurant which belongs to the hotel is not only good but superb. We like to treat ourselves to nice food with a local touch wherever we go and we aren't mad on vegetarian food. Like never before, we ended-up in the hotel restaurant twice for dinner because of the quality of food and the quiet and intimate atmosphere.
David, the hotel owner was always there and made sure the guests were happy and looked after properly. His attention to detail is stunning and reflects his professionalism in the hotel business.
This hotel is an absolute MUST when you like independent traveling to the highest standard.

Just back from a wonderful holiday in Thailand. We stayed at the Ariyasomvilla 4 nights in total --one at start and 3 at end of a three week stay. What a haven of tranquility in a mad city!
Folks this is a "real" boutique hotel, not just a label of convienence.
The rooms are tastefully decorated and finished to a deluxe level (and ours was not a deluxe Catagory!)
The restaurant serves excellent Fish and Veggy food in both Thai and Western formats. The pool area is spotless and very peaceful in an oasis of Green plants and trees. But what really lifts the Ariyasomme above the pack is its Staff and Owner. You are made welcome the moment you arrive until you walk out the door at the end of your stay. Yes, truly this is a Boutique hotel experience

We left Bali bound yesterday from Bangkok. This hotel was truly as special and wonderful as everyone else says it is. I loved that it is so near all the mad hubbub, but is an oasis of calm and peace. Faultless service. Wonderful staff who couldn't do enough o help. This hotel is the perfect antithesis to the huge 5 star brands. It is personal and intimate and welcoming. Food; Brilliant breakfast. We actually ate at the hotel restaurant both nights. It was some of the best Vegetarian cooking I have ever tasted. Complex and delicious. David the manager/owner's attention to detail and tireless work is what really sets the place apart. The only addition I would make is a turn down service in the evening. Seamless enjoyment.
Don't stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: 203 did not have a balcony, but was beautiful.

We stayed on the 3 night package which included breakfast, set dinner for 2 & a Thai massage. Fabulous hotel in a convenient location. Our room was lovely & spacious and were even upgraded from a deluxe to a suite. This was fab as it was actually our wedding anniversary! All the staff were friendly & very courteous. The set meal that was included in the package was actually the best meal that we had during our 15 night stay in Thailand - just superb. One lunch time I had the Pomelo Salad (Yam Som O). This is also one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted! Definatly a hotel we will return to when next in Thailand. Highly highly recommend.

Room Tip: We were in a suite overlooking the pool. Only noise was from the boats on the canal next door first...
