“Standard Chinese restaurant in Bangkok”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

It's a standard chinese restaurant and pricey. Good services and good for dim sum. For seafood, would rather pay a visit to China town for their shark's fin soup and abalone.

“Shang Palace - Bangkok”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I've been impressed with the Manila Shang Palace in the past and the Bangkok location is as good or better. Great service and excellent food. The decor and atmosphere is outstanding as is the service and menu variety.

Suitable for a romantic couples dinner or a business dinner.

“Dim sum lunch”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

With daytime temperature in the high 30s, my wife and I sought refuge in Shang Palace for a leisurely weekend lunch of dim sum. Still fresh from its renovation in the last quarter of 2013, the restaurant is elegant with its stunning canopies of chandeliers and wall murals of silk paintings.

We ordered our favorite selection of dim sum including fried spring rolls, fried turnip cake, siew mai with scallops, steamed buns with BBQ pork, and rice noddles with seafood. The siew mai had succulent bites of fresh prawns and topped with a whole scallop. The rice noddles were delicately thin and stir-fried with generous portions of seafood. It would have been better tasting (our personal preference) with the slightly burnt taste had it been stir-fried with more "wok hei". We finished off lunch with their amazing mango pudding dessert.

Food quality and service were good, as expected of a Shang Palace. Add in the restaurant's elegant ambience and the meal becomes a memorable one!

“Cantonese delight”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

Good food, nice decor, great service.
If you want quality authentic Cantonese Chinese food, this is a good place to go.
Food was well prepared with quality ingredients and what I would expect in a good Cantonese restaurant in China. Depending on your selections, can be pricey, but you can have a great meal for a reasonable cost.

“Excellent Duck! Superb Service!”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

We booked a table to celebrate my husband's parents wedding anniversary whilst we were staying at the Hotel. The experience was amazing.

The restaurant was extremely quiet however this may have been as there was a conference in the Hotel and therefore a number of guests were otherwise engaged.

On entering the restaurant you are met by the most fantastic golden buddha and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The ceiling is a mass of twinkling lights from the chandeliers (which are shapped like lovehearts) a perfect place if you are looking for a romantic evening.

The service was second to none. We had heard about the duck and decided to all order this served 2 ways. It is great the first plate involves pancakes and plum sauce and for the second dish we opted for it to be served in black bean sauce. A whole duck was perfect for 4 and we ordered some additional rice.

It was extremely reasonably priced for the location and the food quality. We would definitely recommend.
