“Not value for money and taste is so so for Dim Sum”
Reviewed 15 December 2012 via mobile

As 1st time to try buffet dim sum at this restaurant, it is in Sunday which is highest price. Taste is so so while choice is on average. Shark fin is poor. I have tried a la carte in the evening which I think that a la carte is much much better. No wonder why other guests order on a la carte instead of buffet dim sum. My parent in law prefer taste of other Chinese restaurant. However atmosphere and service are good as 5 star hotel.

“Superb Chinese cuisine”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

The food, decor, service are all exceptionally good as you would expect from a five star hotel restaurant.
The menu is extensive as is the wine list.
Expect to pay top dollar here - unless like me you have the Intercontinental preffered dining card in which case you will get 50% discount on food and 25% on beverage.
You will not be disappointed with anything from this fine dining restaurant.

“Exquisite high-end Chinese food”
Reviewed 31 January 2009

This place does briliiantly executed Chinese food, great service and is beautifully decorated, lending itself to being a 'destination' dining experience.

For starters, location is great - right in town, near Erawan shrine, Gaysorn Plaza and the BTS. Easy to get to, great to go after a day shopping nearby. Also easy to get to if travelling from your hotel for a special night out.

The Intercontinental is renovating its lobby at the moment, so not the most delightful of places right now, but walk through, go up the escalator to the first floor, and 10 yards down the big corridor enter a world of terrific Chinese food and gracious, unhurried service.

Decor is wonderful and very much high-end - A lot of silks and good quality linens for both decorative and table use.

Menu is comprehensive and encompasses a full range of dishes, from banquet dining to homely favourites. The serving team there are happy to help explain the menu if necessary, and happy to discuss going 'off menu' to give you a bespoke experience if you know what you want but the exact dish isn't there on the menu. Service very attentive but not overbearing, and well paced. We booked a table for 9.30pm and were the last diners there, but at no time did they hurry the service to close up the restuarant - only advising to consider the dessert menu too when we ordered as the kitchen closed at 10.30. They never skimped on the order of service either - from serving an amuse bouche, to including a complimentary dessert at the end - which by this time was 11.30 and we were long the only diners remaining.

Food is the Best - As good as high-end anywhere in the world including HK. As earlier mentioned, brilliantly executed, well seasoned, fresh, and good portions - the 'medium' sized order for each dish was more than enough for 3 people - probably better for four.

Another thing to factor in was the bill - Despite Sterling's 30% depreciation against the Baht recently, it was still actually reasonable - Around £100 for 3 people for lots more food than we could finish, and including alcohol (spirits & mixers) and fresh fruit juices through the evening - We'd have easily paid 50% more in London for similar standards. My friends also told me that the Chinese restaurant at the hotel we were staying at wasn't nearly as good...and more expensive - So probably add 'value' to the list of great things about this place too! Highly recommended for a lovely evening meal in town.
