“An oasis of luxury on the river front”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2012

We spent a few days at Chatrium - it is really well located on the river, with free river taxi to the nearby Sathorn pier where one can catch the ferry to Asiatique, or the ferries that travel down to the Palace and Temple areas, or you can switch to Skytrain here to travel around Bangkok.
The Club upgrade offered nicer suites at higher levels, free laundry, and late check out, well worth the extra fee.
Breakfast buffet is amazing! Nice swimming pool and gym on the 4th floor.

We stayed here for 6 nights in December. The room itself was absolutly brilliant 70m2 is a lot :-) Great big balcony overviewing the river Chao Phraya. Since it is Xmas the hotel is fully booked and the elevators are a bit few here. Only 2 for the girst 17 floors makes it a bit slow and you have to wait a while to get up/down. Nice breakfast and a very nice big Pool area with a pool bar as well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find for the Taxi drives and only 35 min to suvarnabhumiairport.

I have been meaning to stay here for some time. This hotel is only four years new but often gets great reviews. I booked for a weekend here in December 2012 with an option for an upgrade on arrival and subject to availability.

The building is quite striking, a modern imposing tower with large glass windows and green frames. Its gardens are pleasant, the buffet plentiful and inviting, the entertainment stylish and laid back. In terms of textiles and furnishings it errs on modern styles with solid fixtures and fittings.

I had the pleasure of meeting with one of the hotel flamboyant stars, Director of rooms Chatchawan Napawan and I found him to be both delightful and convincing. When he suggested that I should take up that upgrade, I did without hesitation. It was a wonderful recommendation as I ended up enjoying a one bedroom suite with private balcony with river views available also from the bedroom.

The upgrade also included access to their club on the 36th floor with free drinks and canapés. I was quite impressed not only with the position of their excellent infinity pool set against against the river and overlooking a perfect sunset but also with their vast breakfast choice and the overall cleanliness of the amenities.

There were also many little touches like, for example, returning from the above club the first evening I found the bed runner had been removed and one side of the sheets folded open with slippers positioned by the bed. Another time the newspaper was left in a re-usable bag discreetly placed on the outside door handle.

The feel in the lobby, as with most of this big hotels, felt a little busy but once I checked in it was very relaxing indeed and the views left an indelible memory in my mind.

This hotel provided a great location for many happy photos and I was not surprised with the number of accolades it has been receiving in recent times.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the river

We stayed at the Chatrium for only one night on 24 November at the start of a tour of Indochina. Having arrived from a long-distance flight, we were very early for check-in. However, after having to wait for only a short while, the very pleasant member of staff at reception told us that, rather than delay us any longer, they had upgraded us to a suite. The suite itself was very large, with double-aspect views over the city and the river, and really nicely furnished. We used the complimentary shuttle boat in the afternoon, which made it easy to get to the Skytrain terminal and explore. Because of really heavy rain that night, we ate in the hotel restaurant, while was also very nice, with live music, if that's your thing. Breakfast was a bit busy in the morning, but there was great choice of food, and staff did their best to cope with the rush. All in all, a wonderful start to our trip.

Just came back from Bangkok. This time I choose staying at Chatrium for five days from 19-23/12/2012 . The reason why was that I’ve read from some reviewer that Chatrium got a fantastic river-side view so I choose it. My decision was correct. My room was facing the riverside view with not a small Balcony which I sat there & ate something with my wife enjoying both the food & the good river view.
I have to thank you Mr. Charchawan Napawan, the Director of rooms. Before that, I got some misunderstanding of using free wi-fi while I booked my room, as I needed to use wi-fi to finish my work & finally I got a free wi-fi….just thank you again for his kind arrangement.
I loved the room which including a small kitchen & I easily reheated the food & washed the dishes. It was very convenient & because of the kitchen, that’s one of the reason I booked this hotel. The bed was comfortable too.
The staffs were very nice & helpful, English & communication was not a problem.
The riverside view was lovely especially while you’re watching at night time, it’s enjoyable when you had such a beautiful scenery when you were watching.
Though it’s a little bid away from centre, I enjoyed taking the Shuttle boat from hotel to the pier then to the BTS Suphan Taksin Station, still it’s very convenient. (Please see the photo with shuttle boat time-table) Also it’s very close to Asiatique which you need to go once to have a look.
Breakfast buffet got many choices. I took my breakfast in the outside area, It's a river view & its terrific for me when I looked up in the sky & see swallows flying in the blue sky while you were enjoying your breakfast.
The pool though not too big, the surrounding & atmosphere was good.
I really enjoy my staying at Chatrium for 5days & 4nights.

We spent four days at the Chatrium Riverside hotel and liked it best of all the hotels we stayed at while we were in Thailand. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the large rooms quiet and contain every amenity you could need, the beds comfortable, and the location very lovely and convenient. We were exceptionally well taken care of and began to feel of it as a home. The free river shuttle to the BTS station was so convenient and helped us avoid the gridlock that often occurs in Bangkok. The guests of the hotel were even invited to an in-hourse ceremony celebrating the King's birthday, which was an honor to attend. We absolutely plan to stay there when we return!
