Very good hotel away from the crowds very kind and polite staff everywhere and a big thank you for he restaurant staff with a super human effort to satisfy all the customers prepared a lovely night for the new year s party a big thank you especially for mr sompthrop who was extremely kind and smiling every day took very good care of us but also made us discover secret beautiful places in Bangkok
We have been upgraded to a river view room amazing view very comfortable and clean rooms the only problem we faced was the very low internet connection both in the room and the swimming pool . I would suggest pool staff do not allow clients to put their clothes in order to reserve a place by the pool and then leave and come back hours later it was very hard fore us as well as for others I guess to find a place by the pool.
Excellent restaurant and breakfast

Room Tip: All the rooms are very comfortable

this is a great hotel in a great location. the staff are awesome and the rooms are really nice and large with beautiful views from the balcony. the pool is large and inviting and the service is impeccable. take advantage of the spa because it is brilliant. there is a hotel ferry that takes you to the pier where the train is, so you can get around, there is plenty if things walking distance too. there is a huge mixture of people staying here as well, which adds to the niceness of the hotel. we only had the breakfast included, and it was really good, the selection was enormous. if you are in Bangkok, consider staying here, it really is a nice place. the staff also make it so nice, they are there to help you in any way that you want and have a great tour agency they use that supplies great guides if you need excursion. this is worth every penny

Room Tip: choose a room with a balcony riverside the views are awesome

Stay over new year 13\14. The hotel met expectations, it is a very large tourist hotel, 36 floors I think. We had a one bedroom suite, which in overall terms was large, with a proper balcony, and I would say was definitely the room to go for. My brother and his wife had a standard room; much smaller.
Two years previously I stayed on business at the Sheraton Royal Orchid, which overall is much better for three reasons; the river bus landing stage is next door, so no waiting for the hotel's boat to and from the central pier, the rooms were bigger, and it wasn't in a culdesac, so taxi's and tuk tuks were easy to get, whereas at the Chatrium we feltvwe were in something of a backwater. Having said all that the Sheraton was about three times the cost for the new year when we stayed, so no contest really when you are paying for it yourself.
Our riverside view was sort of side on, I think that way they can claim that nearly all the rooms have a riverside view.
The pool was nice and surpringly, given the size of the hotel not too crowded.

Room Tip: Upgrade to one bedroom we suite, high rooms involve waiting for lifts -there aren't enough of th...

We have stayed here between 15-21 December 2013. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good and the facilities were up to standards. We have upgraded our room to river view and from the balcony could see a lot of places. A free river boat is provided to take you to the Sathon pier which is the start of the Silom area and the BTS Saphan Taksin Station. The hotel is also walking distant from the Asiatique shopping and leisure area, where is nice to walk around have something to eat and do some shopping. Taxis can be arranged from the hotel that can take you anywhere that you need in the city. We were flying from Don Mueang airport to Udon Thani at the end of our stay and they have arranged for a larger taxi to pick us up as we had a lot of luggage.
