Second visit to meet with family members. The rooms are clean and spacious for the price (though Bangkok accommodation is cheap overall anyway) stayed in a city view room which overlooks a school, sports oval/basketball courts and low buildings - not terrible but nothing particularly nice to see either. I would suggest paying extra for the river view and ask for a high floor if you plan to spend time inside the room or enjoying the balcony.
The shower drainage is bad (has been both times) it takes 5mins for the water puddle to go down but seems to just be an issue with the pipes and not the particular room.

Wifi connection is free but the signal is super weak and cuts out intermittently very frequently wherever you are (room, pool, lobby) which is frustrating if you need to look things up or do any work (even writing this - it has cut out multiple times in the space of 5mins) that is probably the biggest frustration for me.. Perhaps it won't bother the general tourist. Personally I would prefer to pay for a stable connection than a unreliable free one...

Other than that, breakfast is your standard affair with western and eastern foods and the service comes with a smile. It's an overall decent hotel for the price range with quick access to the highway to get to the airport.

We stayed here for four nights at the end of a South East asian holiday. We stayed in a suite - which was very spacious, with microwave (although no plates, not that we really wanted to cook!) family of four, with kids aged 12 and 10. We loved the pool, and being by the river, and the breakfast every day, and the club lounge that came with our package.

We found the housekeeping a bit wanting, though, our room wasn't ready when we arrived at around 4 the first day (which seemed a bit late to us) and the servicing of the room each day was a bit late and not always comprehensive.

For us, being by the river and a bit away from the action was fine, but if you wanted to be more active, it did take a while to get places by boat shuttle and then BTS.

Having stayed in Bangkok many times this was the first time for a few years that we stayed on the river. The Chatrium has great river view corner suites, with balconies, highly recommended.
The pool is the best I have seen in Bangkok, proper length (30m?) so that if you go early you can swim proper laps unlike most hotel pools which are for splashing in!
The staff are very helpful and caring and gave me great assistance when we had an emergency to deal with

Great location: Between Saphan Thaksin Station and Asiatique. With the free shuttle boat to Sathorn Pier/Saphan Thaksin station, I really did not need to take a taxi to reach most of the tourist attractions and shopping malls.

We stayed 3 night in roomy grand suite room with breathtaking view of the river. Breakfast is pretty good, a lot to choose from. My favorite was the noodle station. Swimming pool is awesome, a nice view of the river.

The most important thing about Chatrium hotel is the outstanding service provided by the stuff. For sure we will be back to stay here.

Room Tip: Higher floor with river view.

Rooms were spacious and very well maintained, the pool side was beautiful.

Thought the river view is not very pleasing but at a good floor rise you will enjoy that too. Also food options for vegetarians are limited

After an excellent stay at the Haven Resort in Hua Hin I returned to Bangkok for one night prior to leaving for Saigon.Normally when in Bangkok I tend to stay at the Sivatel but opted for a change and must say I was very pleased with Chatrium, check in was swift and hassle free, the room I had chosen was a grand deluxe with river view and what a view it is! I was situated on the 30th floor and the room was 3013 and on a corner of the building with a large balcony and spectacular views up and down the river. If you fancy a swim then the pool is large with ample sun beds on offer. The food was excellent and overall a very nice place to stay with good and efficient staff, one downer is that there is construction work going on on a small plot of land next to the hotel and can be a bit annoying if you are trying to chill by the pool so a set of head phones and some nice music would be useful.

Booked into this hotel on the recommendation of a friend, and we used it as a base for visiting Bangkok for a total of 6 days spread over 3 separate occasions (all within a few weeks).
We were most impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of all the staff we met - without exception. It is quite something for such an institution to maintain such high standards without fail at all times. The check in procedure was conducted with the utmost courtesy and consideration, and on each of our subsequent short visits we were recognised and welcomed back (and twice given upgraded rooms). The rooms, all with a river view, were of a very high standard. The furnishings and equipment were excellent and comprehensive, beds were comfortable and all was extremely clean.
The breakfast buffet was like nothing else I have experienced and the one evening meal we had here was excellent and very reasonably priced.
One tiny criticism was that hotels should not charge a service fee on meals then still leave a space on the bill for a tip - it makes us feel ungenerous and awkward deleting it, as of course, we should. Hopefully in doing so, the staff concerned did not feel slighted as they were all so outstanding
