What a great place to stay!
The staff at the Chatrium couldn't be any better, and that often makes the difference. Always happy to help, always friendly.
The location, though not close to the centre of the city, is very well served by their boat to the Skytrain station, which is also only about a 10-15 minute walk away.
The hotel itself is lovely, and the views from the rooms facing the river are spectacular. The location on the river means it's also noticeably cooler than more central locations, which is a big bonus. There's a ton of great street food and little restaurants right outside the door, and the breakfast is a real pleasure, with a great selection of Thai and Western options, as well as seating outside overlooking the river.

And honestly, for the price, there's no better deal in Bangkok.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and opt for a riverview suite. Well worth it.

We stayed here twice during our Thailand vacation. We stayed 4 nights when we arrived in Bangkok in a suite and then our final 3 nights in a regular room. Both rooms were very large, clean and the view of the river was amazing. We weren't supposed to have a river view on our last three nights but when we arrived the staff told us that they were providing a complimentary upgrade to a river view because we returned. The morning that we left the first time it was very busy in the lobby and the manager was busy helping the staff and assisted my boyfriend with our luggage. The staff was excellent with one exception. It may have been a language barrier but we came in one evening to find that our hotel room door had not been latched. We had been away for several hours and both housekeeping and turn down had come in during this time. We reported this to the front desk not to try to "get anything" but to just let them know and the desk attendant was not very apologetic and even blamed us. The fitness room was clean and had respectable equipment. The pool was very nice. We visited the Nemita Spa twice and it was great. We liked that it was close to Asiatique. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. We also ate the dinner buffet on our last night. It was a great way to end our vacation sitting outside by the river enjoying good food and listening to the band. I would definitely stay here again!

First visit to Thailand & having heard many different opinions on Bangkok decided it might be nice to stay on the river. Consulted TA & narrowed it down to Chatrium - excellent choice.
Fantastic views of the river - never closed the curtains so woke up to it every morning & fell asleep to the night scenes.
The location is excellent with very frequent free river taxis to Sathorn pier where the sky train station & main boat pier is. I could just have hopped on & off boats all day but would caution anyone physically challenged to avoid them.
At night Asiatique shops & restaurants are very close. There is a free boat to it from Sathorn but the queues were long so we hopped on a tuk tuk ( after bartering ). We really enjoyed eating outside on the river - maybe not the genuine Thai experience and maybe not gourmet cuisine, but the pizzas & pastas were just fine. As others have noted wine is a ridiculous price for what is really plonk. We couldn't get to the bottom of this as beer & spirits are cheap.
The hotel has nice seating outside with the trees beautifully lit up but beware the Mosquitos!
Breakfast was a huge affair with just about everything on offer, including rubber fried eggs! Having said that I never suffered as there was so much else. The bread was surprisingly good & we loved having breakfast outside.
The room was modern & sparsely furnished. It was our largest room in Thailand and had the bonus of a kitchen for those who want it. The bathroom was modern & really nice.
The pool is a pleasant oasis from sightseeing & shopping but my gripe would be the lack of sun loungers.
We didn't eat in the top floor restaurant but did notice that room service food was very reasonable for this standard of hotel.
I loved Bangkok and would definitely return & stay in the Chatrium. Maybe it was because of the hotel's location, but we never saw any of the sleazy side that others talk about.
I should also mention that although the city centre was blocked with the protestors, they are very peaceful and pleasant. We actually had lunch from a street vendor in the middle of all this and it will be something to remember in years to come.

Had a great stay there, service was excellent and the view was great from the river view room. The location is good but. The hotel river ferry service was very useful and takes you straight to the metro station.

I was tired from traveling when I arrived at 11am, well before the advertised check in. They checked me in regardless without batting an eyelash or even mention of the early hour. My room was also just what I needed. Large room with balcony overlooking the river with a kitchenette! I loved being able to run downstairs to Starbucks and 7-11 and pick up a few things and use the kitchenette. The staff was responsive and kind. Pool beautiful though I didn't go in. Frequent boat shuttle service to connect you to one of the main piers connecting sites up and down the river. Wished I had that kind of room during the entirety of my trip!
