“Great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights (2 adults and a teenage son) and it was a great choice. The location by the riverside was very handy as the hotel's free boat service dropped you by the pier where the express ferries dock and there is a sky Tain station. This meant it was easy to get to all the sites. The staff were all lovely, the room spacious, the wifi fast and the restaurant food really good and cheap. I would definitely recommend the Chatrium.

The Chatrium seems to have it all, even if you have really high standards.

We had a grand suite river view, and it was pretty much amazing.

The hotel also offers a free boat shuttle that runs every couple of minutes, so you'll get to the city center in no time.

Also really close to Sirocco.

Highly recommended.

A great place to stay! Amazing breakfast buffet, huge rooms with a balcony. I recommend getting a river view room so you can watch the boats on the river. Free water taxi to the Central Quay water taxi station. Convenient location only a few minutes by water taxi from some of the major tourist attractions. Rooms are very modern and clean. Great value for the money. Would definitely stay there again!

I am so glad i chose to stay in this hotel. It is awesome. In Bangkok yet away from the busy noisy city without any inconveniences. I encourage you to choose the one facing the river, every morning, i sit and watch the boats go pass. So beautiful!. The staff are great too and housekeeping is excellent. Breakfast has a great variety of western, Jap, Chinese and Thai.

Facilities - There is a 24 hours store within the same ground to buy all your needs. You name it, they have it. The swimming pool at 6th floor is a good size to do your laps. The jacuzzi is not working though when i was there.

Kids activity - there is a nice kids playground - not too big but well maintained and clean. Buy some bread from the convenient store to feed the cat fishes at the pier - they are huge! My youngest daughter enjoyed it very much.

Transport to city and other sightseeing places is not at all a problem. First, you take the Chatrium very own boat to Sathorn Taksin BTS (mind you, all sheltered). From there, i propose you buy a One day pass for only B$130 to travel around. Once you hit Siam BTS (that is where the Siam Centre, Paragon, MBK etc are), its SSS - shopping spree starts!

If you are going for dinner cruise along the river, we didnt arrange for travel agent to pick us up because it was costly at B$200 per person. We took the Chatrium boat to the Sathorn Pier, from there, you pay B$15 per person, get on the orange flag boat to head for the River City Shopping Centre or where Sheraton Hotel etc are.

Same method if you are heading for Asiatique - this lovely place to buy local stuff, clothes or have dinner. Either you take a cab or tuk tuk from Chatrium which cost B$60 for not so peak hours or take the boat to Sathorn Pier and connect on the free boat shuttle to Asiatique (from fridays to sundays, the queue can be long). Returning from Asiatique can be tricky - the taxis/tuk tuk charge a lot. Walk along the road and flag a metered taxi down. Usually max is B$100.

If you intend to attend mass, good news. There is a catholic church (it is beautifully decorated inside), Assumption Church which holds English mass at 1000 on Sundays. Ask the concierge and they can instruct the taxi driver. If the taxi driver stops you in front of the Assumption College and doesnt know how to get there, no worries. Ask him to go straight up, take the first left turn and you can see the entrance of the church side gate. if not, first left turn, go straight and second left turn. Church on the left side. Go early to find a seat under the fan or near a fan cos can get quite hot in there.

Will return to stay again!

Room Tip: Choose the river view one. Ours 2509 was excellent!

We stayed there for three nights in July and had a lovely time. The staff are delightful and the pool and our room were great. There's a free shuttle boat to Central Quay from where you can catch the metro and any of a zillion river buses. It's only a few blocks away, but in the heat and humidity it's much better by boat.
We had a big room with a separate sitting room and a wee kitchen area. We'd have spent more time hanging out in the room, but there was too much to do outside! The room has universal sockets which meant we could plug our things in without adaptors.

Room Tip: Get one facing the river.

Our river-view room was stunning, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and professional. Riverbarge restaurant had delicious food and great ambiance and we enjoyed a lovely swim in the beautiful 6th floor pool which was also very child friendly. Very central and a wonderful place to experience the buzz of Bangkok. Most guests seemed to have a big smile on their faces and in fact anyone we spoke to mentioned how happy they were with their stay at the Chatrium. We were just sorry that we could not stay longer but will most definitely be back and will always consider Chatrium as our base on Bangkok anytime we go. Thank you to the wonderful Chatrium staff for a fantastic Bangkok experience.

Room Tip: Would definitely agree that the riverside rooms are definitely worth the extra costs. And buffet bre...
