“Best little known hotel in Bangkok”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2010

We first stayed at this hotel at the end of November 2009, for three nights/2 full days, on our way to Australia and New Zealand. Most of the superlatives have been written by many others so I really just want to agree with them. To look at, in the foyer, it is quite minimalistic, not the fancy shmancy of others nearby. But elsewhere........

We had a suite overlooking the river and it was anything but minimalistic. Lots of space and comforts and little extras that show you they care. They even took our photograph (in case we absconded?) but on our last evening there was a framed photograph of us on a table in our room. Indeed, all the staff were attentive, helpful and courteous without being intrusive. The restaurant was very pleasant with good evening meals and the breakfast outstanding. I did suggest that they needed to increase the background music selection as it became repetitive.

Their river ferry service gave easy access to the skytrain (6 minute ride) and during the day a 15 minute service. At night it switched to 30 minutes and it might have been helpul to have finished later than 10.30pm although a taxi from the train station costs peanuts,

It was so good we booked the hotel again for the return leg of our journey leading up to New Year' Eve, 2 nights/3 days. We arrived at 5.15am on the 29th and departed at midnight 40am on January 1st and the hotel kindly found us somewhere to grab a few hours sleep in the morning of arrival (2 bedroom suite with three bathrooms, no less) and looked after our suitcases after we booked out, even giving us access to showers and changing rooms before we left.

They arranged two day trips for us with our own private taxi. The day trip to the floating market and lots more was exceptional with a first-rate inclusive lunch.

I do have a quibble. You tell people where you stayed and they are puzzled. You ask a taxi driver to take you back to the hotel and you end up directing him or her. Come on Chatrium, I know you are great, let the world know you are there.

Would I recommend this hotel? Friends, strangers, anyone visiting Bangkok. Simply the best

Stayed in a 2 bedroom river view suite and couldn't fault this hotel at all. The staff were warm and welcoming the breakfast buffet had everything you could possibly want and the beds were the most comfortable I have slept in. The hotel has a short and frequent boat service to the pier to catch either the boat or train around Bangkok. The restaurant is excellent and you can dine outside by the river.

We stayed in a delux river view room for one week late in January 2010.
The room we were given initially was changed within minutes of check in was altered to one with a better view. We requested an additional chair, it arrived in minutes. We could not work out how to operate the DVD player, again resolved in minutes. On a number of outings the desk staff wrote in Thai for us various directions for taxi's and other more obscure requests such as ( May i hire or borrow a bicyle). In short the staff were five star quality and communication was never an issue. The breakfast was great and the bed fantastically comfortable. The hotel has a frequent free boat shuttle to the Saphin Thaksin station and ferry stop, however we often walked there in ten or 15 minutes to catch the sky train. Another two minutes on the other side of the skytrain we found great cheap eats including Robinsosn department store and Topps supermarket. We found the pool was a bit cool however it is a sun lovers paradise and the water should warm up as summer approaches. The gym is high quality. We felt the internet was overpriced and used one of the nearby local internet cafe's. We had a fantastic stay and will be returning regularly starting April.

The Chatrium Suites Hotel is fabulous. The staff are friendly; the accomodation fantastic; food great and the location breathtaking. AND it is well priced!
Ideally situated just a few minutes by shuttle boat from the Skytrain or ferry services you really couldn't wish for a better situation. There was no traffic, no pollution and the views over the river stunning. I walked from the hotel to Silom Village and Chinatown with no worries whatsoever.
I would definately stay here again.
Thank you to all the staff!

Beautiful, immaculate, new hotel, with a very helpful and gracious staff. River front with fantastic views of the river. Our room had a full kitchen for extended stay, a very comfortable bed and a wonderful bathroom. The included breakfast is excellent. It is a buffet of very fresh foods from many countries. Eggs are cooked to order. There is outdoor dining at the BBQ restaurant .
This hotel will appeal to people who prefer a more modern simple design. It is not fancy in the traditional sense of the word.

We had a marvelous stay in a two-bedroom suite. The rooms were spacious, spotless and really comfortable. Our suite had beautiful dark wood floors and sleek modern furniture. It was a cool, quiet haven after very warm days exploring and shopping in Bangkok. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The ferry service was really convenient. From the Tamsin dock, you could walk right up to the Skytrain to get all around Bangkok. If you decide to take a taxi, it's typically a $2 fare to get to most places.
As a serious swimmer, I appreciated the 35-meter pool for lap swimming and sunning.
Tips: (1) The Chatrium is relatively new and just a bit south of the central district, so some taxi drivers don't know where it is. Just bring along the "Please take me to..." card the hotel provides.
(2) There's a 7-Eleven in the buildings next door so you can get inexpensive drinks and snacks. (There's also a Starbucks for your American caffeine fix.)

My partner and I stayed 4 nights here as a start to our trip around Thailand
Excellent Hotel and beautiful location.Very peaceful setting by a beautiful busy river full of action.
We picked this hotel as it is not to close to city centre which for us was great as it was nice and quiet and away from all the city noise and traffic. The free shuttle boat service which is quick and easy and very regular brings you to the skytrain station and shopping districts.
Food at the hotel is excellent and staff always smiling and very helpful. The room was spotless and comfortable and a great view of the river.
I left the safe in my room open one day and the house keeping informed reception and they locked it for me, while we where out on a tour.(Very Honest Staff)
My girlfriend and I where very impressed and would highly recommend this hotel. Guaranteed relaxation and made feel very welcome to a very beautiful country.
