Hotel is located in the middle of the backpackers center of Bangkok near Khao San Road and maybe even Asia. Many western people on the street and in tons of shops, bars and restaurants. In the evening loud music all around. But almost no cars in the street lot to do and many places to enjoy. Hotel is not expensive and offers the basic stuff, including good airco and slow basic wifi. And clean bed and bathroom. Forget tuktuk and taxi: pier 13 is 10 minutes walk and the boats bring you everywhere. Beware the taxi drivers around Khao San Road: they mostly refuse to use the meter. Walk a little further for the meter-deal.

I absolutely loved this place! Have stayed 3 nights. The rooms are of course basic but that's because they're cheap. I stayed in the premium option :)and had no complaints.but rooms need to be refurnished because they are not same as pictures but clean enough. The restaurant is a lovely place to hang out, drink, eat and play pool. Can sit indoor or outdoor. The menu is comprehensive and reasonably priced. The Thai food is genuine and just spot on. The place has got everything you need, does cheap laundry, has internet, you can leave your bags in storage after check out if your not getting a coach till later. Also very very close to everywhere you need to go e.g. bars, street food stalls, stalls selling clothes, souvenirs, jewelry, everything and anything!
Also right next to lots of tuk tuks to take you wherever you want to go. Also v.close to the taxi boats which are really cheap and take you to china town, grand palace, wat arun etc.
If your wanting a cheap atmospheric place for backpackers and fun loving adults then this is the place for you!

Key deposit is 1500baht or you'll have to surrender your passport til you check out. Of course, NEVER give out your passport like that. Rooms are small and only have shower gel, a roll of toilet paper, shampoo and water glasses. In room safe is not safe at all cos its just placed on a stool inside the room- completely detached. It takes forever for the AC to cool down sucha tiny room. 18degC is their lowest temperature, seriously. Pillow is nice though. Hot shower works fine. Vibrant ambiance in front of the hotel

Location is very excellent as it is just a street away from the famous khaosan road. Its also a walking distance from Phra Arthit Pier (Chao Phraya Express Boat route). lots of restaurants, money changers and bars nearby. You can easily get tuktuks and cabs outside the hotel.

Great place if you don't want to be awake 24hours from the Khoa San road hustle and bustle. But it is a 2 minute walk away from khoa san road, and is on a great road itself for great food, street shopping and bars. Staying in a private room, had a safe, ensuite and TV (didn't try it so don't know if it worked!). They do take a 1500tbh deposit or leave your passport, so don't believe the booking websites when they say no deposit taken!
The restaurant is open 24/7, food is slightly more expensive than other places, but for convenience its great!
Would recommend this to backpackers who don't want to share rooms or would like AC and private bathrooms!

Our first and last visit in Thailand was Sawasdee house!
My friend and I were recommended this hotel by her sisters and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was great, created by a restaurant just in front of the lounge/ reception area and the traditional Thai décor. This was a travellers meeting point and a well known spot very near Khao San Road.
The staff are helpful and the prices even more so! The rooms were simple but perfect. At first we were apprehensive about the large towels which replaced regular duvet, but after our first stay we realised how convenient these were considering the heat outside.
The lights in the rooms were unusually dim and tinted red which made the room and our possessions difficult to see but we soon got used to this.
Food was great and strawberry daiquiri's were heaven after a days touring around the city.

Room Tip: We preferred smaller twin rooms compared to double rooms but this was a personal preference as they...

The hotel itself is in a good location and the rooms are pleasant enough if a little small and noisy as the hotel is over the main street.

However on leaving luggage in the 'secure' storage facility with hotel staff I returned to find credit cards used and $100 USD in case taken.

Advise travellers to be wary even when using the safe in the rooms.

Great thing about Sawasdee House is that they have a room choice for everyone and you can rock up 24 hours a day and there will always be a load of people there. Easy place to meet other backpackers and in convenient location.

Common area could do with a clean up as could the halls and stairs leading to the rooms, however once in the room, they are very clean and not too shabby. The superior rooms are actually rather nice.

The staff at Sawasdee are notoriously rude and useless, if you are looking for customer service, don't bother booking something here.

If you're looking for somewhere clean in the centre of khao San road action then this is your place. Note that single rooms don't have windows.
