“Great place to stay in Sukhumvit”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

This hotel was very accommodating, my wife and I arrived to the hotel after midnight and the hotel reception was eager to grab our bags for us and make a very quick checkin knowing that we were exhausted. The rooms are excellent with great showers, wifi, and comfortable bed. Breakfast was pretty good also with lots of fresh fruit and pastries in a buffet style bar, and main breakfast dishes to order from a menu. The distance to the ASOK BTS (sky-train) and Sukhumvit MRT (subway) stations were very close and right at the end of the road. There is also a very nice Crepe restaurant down the street towards the sky-train station if you are looking for excellent breakfast. in the other direction there was a very nice massage/spa place called Health Land very close to SilQ that offers 2 hour traditional Thai massages for around 500 Bhat, A little more expensive than just finding a small local person to do it but this place is nice and full service. Overall our stay at SilQ was great and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay close to a transit station especially since the BTS and MRT station are in the same location you don't have to ride one to get to the other. Terminal 21 shopping center is also very very close if you have any shopping you need to do.

Room Tip: When booking the room I asked for a larger bed, a higher floor, and in a quiet area, they put me in...

As stated in the title, this is minutes away from Asok BTS, Sukhumvit MRT, and Terminal 21 shopping mall. If you're traveling via rail from Suvarnabhumi airport, you can alight at either Asok BTS or Sukhumvit MRT and walk to the hotel within minutes. Walking to the hotel from the main road, you'll pass by many small roadside stalls, local eateries, massage parlors, and at least 3 convenient stores. Two 7-11s, and a Family Mart if I remember correctly.

Check-in was a breeze and front desk honored all the requests made during reservation. As it was blazing hot outside when I got there, I was served a complimentary pandan and butterfly pea flavored drink which was amazingly refreshing.

The superior room is reasonably spacious for 1, neat, clean, and has large windows that keeps the room well lit. Curtains that can blackout the entire room if you're on who sleeps till noon. Comfortable bed compared to wooden hard ones I've tried before in other hotels in Bangkok.

The air-conditioner has an ON, OFF, 1, 2, 3 for speed, as well as thermostat control. Some reviews mentioned that it's really noisy and that it's either OFF or freezing cold but I realized that you can actually adjust it to a comfortable level by utilizing the 1, 2, 3 fan speeds as well as the thermostat. The noise was negligible for me. The mini fridge comes with a daily 2 bottles of complimentary water and nothing else which was fine with me as I usually don't purchase from the room's fridge.

Bathroom comes with a rain shower. No hand held spray type if that's what you fancy. Would've loved a bidet spray next to the toilet bowl though. I was able to get constant hot water everytime I showered so no issues with no hot water.

Room came with 2 bathrobes and matching slippers but the slippers weren't the disposable ones so I'm not sure if they wash them everytime a guest leaves. If they do that's fine since you're also using the towels and sheets that's been washed anyway.

Overall it was a pleasant experience. The view I had was not the main road, but of a house and occasional squirrels bounding off the roof. Pretty serene without the noise of the streets and people.

Nice to have :
1. A shuttle service to pick up/drop off the hotel guests from Asok/Sukhumvit/Terminal 21
2. Handheld shower option
3. Bidet shower installed next to the toilet bowl.
4. Access panel to the LCD TV's input/output on the wall that provides HDMI input, etc...
5. Power outlet(s) next to the bed

I know for a fact that a neighboring hotel has 1 - 4 just from the hotel's website photos.

Location wise, this hotel is about 5 minutes gentle walk away from BTS Asok Station. It's then a few stops away to Centralworld and a further few stops to MBK and Siam Discovery. If you prefer, the hotel can get you a taxi. The bell hop was professional and it was quite a sight to watch him juggle our 2 suitcases, getting the lift and escorting us to the reception (which is on the second level). He had his act and timing together! Terminal 21 is also 5 minutes away from the hotel. We had just a little difficulty finding the hotel at night as it did not have lighted signs. If it did, we must have missed it among all the other bright sign boards. Otherwise it was easy to reach.

There are some street stalls located outside the hotel, selling various noodle dishes and drilled chicken and fish. While we did not try the food from the stalls, I must admit, I was sorely tempted. Only a weak stomach prevented me from trying.

The décor was up to date and trendy. The lobby had a tall glass front which overlooked the side streets. The sofas were welcoming and modern looking. Driving into the hotel for the first time felt like you were arriving at a serviced apartment. The taxi drove into what looked like a driveway with the lobby above it. The room we had was fairly spacious and new looking. Importantly, there were no strange smells (musky or otherwise). We had a king sized bed which was really comfortable. Apart from the fluffy pillows, the bed also had cushions which gave it a luxurious feel. There was also a desk lamp if you needed brighter lighting to work. This was a great help since we had to clear a bit of work on our laptops. We had difficulties accessing the free Wi-Fi in our rooms. Despite their best efforts, they could not rectify the issue. This was a disappointment. If we had been on business, that would seriously have affected our ability to work at our hotel.

The room and bathroom areas were not large but they did not make us feel that we were being squeezed. There was ample room to move about. As the hotel was located a side street, noise was definitely not an issue. It was rather quiet. If you need quiet to sleep well, you will appreciate the location of the hotel.

We knew beforehand that the hotel lacked a pool and gym. After staying at this hotel and given the price we paid, we were disappointed in this area of lack.

We had breakfast included in our deal. There was not much variety but what they served was good tasting. It is a small hotel and the restaurant was quite small too. I guess it did not make sense to keep large quantities of food available buffet style. You choose what you want at breakfast and they cook it on the spot for you. Fresh enough for us! Only problem we could think of was eating the same food if we stayed more than a night.

This is Bangkok, so service without smiles would be an anomaly. SilQ is no different. The reception staff were warm and helpful. The chambermaids were quick to respond to our needs and the one man show bell-hop, well, put on a good show for us.

Overall, a good stay. We enjoyed it.

I stayed here for a week with another friend of mine from Melbourne, we came here to attend a wedding. We chose this place because it's nearby, the rooms were good as well as the service, but the women receptionist treated us quite badly when we checked out and also her facial expression didn't really show that we were guests, we returned our key cards and we kept one on the desk which was very surely taken by the housekeeper because it wasn't there when we returned but the receptionist just didn't get it, also her command of English is very poor, overall the rooms were good but we are frequent visitors so unless something is done, I don't think it's gonna bode well for the hotel

Well managed new, clean hotel in an excellent location near public transportation shopping and restaurant options. Friendly staff and pretty quiet location. I have stayed there at least five times. Rooms are big and well furnished. Wifi and cable TV are included. Breakfast is simple but well prepared and served in a bright and sunny breakfast area. Lobby is also bright and well furnished with a bar. Transportation from the airport by cab is about 450 baht.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back and higher floors may be quieter though I have never had trouble with noise in fiv...

This hotel is a 3 min walk away from Terminal 21 and Siam BTS station, location is very accessible. There is a 7 eleven store just across the street and 2 massage salon down the street.
Room is spacious and clean, the King size bed and pillow is very comfortable. Staff were warm and friendly. There is no gym or swimming pool in this hotel, thus i would recommend this hotel for those who wants a good night sleep and continue shopping the next day. Our 4 nights stay at SilQ was a fun and memorable one. We will definitely choose SilQ again on our next visit to Bangkok!

I stayed for two nights whilst on business and found the rooms, although small and compact, extremely comfortable and well designed.

I had a great nights sleep and found the location to be pretty good to get around from - for what I needed, i.e. office location etc. It's good to note thought, that the hotel has no facilities - pool, gym, etc - but I believe offers discounts to neighboring facilities?

Only downside was the breakfast...truly awful. The choice is minimal and there wasn't one item I actually enjoyed eating. The coffee was awful to.

Overall, great rooms but an absolutely miserable breakfast experience.
