“Suprising quiet and a great location”
Reviewed 13 January 2011

The hotel is really tucked away and so is quiet, surprisingly as the traffic chaos around The Democracy Monument is a stones throw away. The staff are lovely and very helpful, they can arrange taxis to the International Airport for 500B (I generally found the price was 450-500B to and from hotel to airport) and saves you bartering on the street. There were not many nice restaurants nearby however the walking street of Khao San Road was minutes away and the little streets in the surrounding area had fantastic shops to browse around in, the silver jewellery stores had bargains galore. The rooms are functional, clean, bathrooms are on the small side but again functional. The breakfast was good, price of rooms are mid-range but potentially negotiable as are most things are in Bangkok! The major sites were easy to walk to, the Grand Palace was about 20 mins away and as the traffic is so bad in Bangkok walking was the easiest mode of transport. I enjoyed my stay and would happily book a room again.

Stayed three nights in December 2010. We were initially upgraded to one of the suites. A nice room. The last night we went to a standard room and it was a disaster. The bathroom expelled a terrible smell and the AC sounded like a locomotive. The bathroom was terrible. The distance from the toilet to the wall was 20 cms, which meant you had to sit sideways!
To top things, we went down for a breakfast and saw a massive cockroach walking from one side of the restaurant to the other.
The location is good for siteseeing – walking distance from Grand Palace. However, it is not very lively during the nights. We apid USD 50 per night. Not worth it at all.

This place is an oasis of calm in crazy bangkok! Stayed 3 nights on recommendation of a friend. Tucked just behind democracy monument, great location. Rooms are simple but very clean, lovely staff and so relaxing. If youre looking for a mid-range place to stay this is it! Highly recommended!

We stayed at Sourire on our arrival in Bangkok and decided to come back two weeks after before flying out of Thailand .
The hotel is hard to find but it it is in a quiet location,10-15 min away from Khao San Rd (by foot). The staff is really nice (and I mean really) and the rooms are clean and comfortable. As described, the bathrooms are quite small but effective (and who needs more than this when travelling?).
One great thing is that if you leave Bangkok later in the day, you can pay 500B and keep the room until the evening (really convenient if you'd like to have a shower before jumping on a plane or on a train).
It may be a bit expensive for some but If you'd like to avoid the hassle of finding a hotel upon arrival, I would recommend this hotel. It's also easy and as cheap to book a room through their website than through other "travel discounts" websites .

This hotel was hard to find and far from any decent eateries/shopping/etc. The room was fairly small, and internet worked only in the un-airconditioned lobby which was infested with mosquitos. i did not like the enthusiasm with which they tried to sign us up for an overpriced, kick-back ridden boat tour. We paid them 500 baht for a taxi to the airport and I found out they only paid the taxi driver 300 baht.

We only had 3 days Bangkok and this looked like the best option and it was. We used the aiport pickup and it works just fine.
The staff is very friendly and always willing to help you when you have a question. If it is a restaurant you want to find or a route to a temple, they are very helpfull.
The room was clean, only the position of the toilet in the bathroom is not handy for long people (don't know how it is in other rooms). There is not enough space for the legs.
The breakfast is simple, fresh and good. You can choose for all the egg options and get fruit. Maybe there is more, but we didn't ask.
Location was good.
