“Nice room but....”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

Pros - clean room with newer amenities.
Cons - staff speaks English but not very friendly or helpful. They charge for super slow internet which should be free. You have to pay extra for breakfast. They advertise airport pickup but you have to call so you're sol without a Thai SIM card. They also advertise transport to airport from hotel but in actuality they don't follow the every 30 minute rule.

All in all this is a decent value that is clean safe and close to the airport but is lacking in some areas.

As my partner and I arrived from different flights and we had 2 different pickup time, it was considered as 2 trips. So they wanted to charge us for our returned trip to the airport. We took a taxi to the city as that was where we were heading. Staff had limited English but friendly. Rooms were nice enough with clean sheets and towels and great shower and we had one facing the pool despite a bit of a walk and not connected to the breakfast area. Breakfast is edible if you can stomach the disgusting swarm on one side and facing the pool when digesting your food.

Located at a 5-min distance from the BKK airport, very convenient when late arriving flight or early departures like we had. Hotel provide wake up call and prompt mini-van transfer at 4am for us. Hotel room was decent, basic but clean. Staff very efficient.

Nicely designed room, but quite a lot of dust behind the curtains; good bed, clean sheets & towels, clean bathroom, good hot water, great shower, good AC. Quiet despite our front location. Convenient free transfer from & to airport but on arrival you have to ask where the contact guy is. Once you find him all goes well. Nice pool, some new & some broken long chairs. Poor breakfast, better go to the market up the street, which was quite convenient for dinner but shuts early. Expensive Wifi!

Room Tip: Worth spending a few extra $ for a superior room.

I only stayed here as I made a last minute decision to leave Thailand a day early on an early morning flight, and the Novotel was fully booked. This was the next one suggested by my travel agent. Frankly I would hate to see what the two cheaper ones he suggested were like, as the BS is very underwhelming. Close to the airport, but in a fairly run down neighbourhood, and very untidy, poorly maintained grounds, with no concern about appearance or picking up rubbish. Pool looked OK, but did not use it. My ground floor room was clean enough, but very shabby, badly in need of repainting with scratches & marks everywhere. No safe, which was a concern considering the neighbourhood.
Not recommended for business travellers, or those used to nicer hotels. Fine for budget travellers or back packers, but only if you have to be near the airport, otherwise there are much better options in Bangkok City. Would rate it a 3 Star max, and did not even feel it was good value at THB1520 despite the free airport transfer & WiFi.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly decorated one on a higher floor as apparently some rooms are fine.

BS Residence is nothing special. In fact some may not like it just cause it is by a trash-filled overnight bus parking area in back. But this is Bangkok. It is of great value if you need to stay close to the airport for a night. All of 6 minutes away and about 100 Baht one way by taxi.
We needed a place overnight and on previous occasions had spent a small fortune (unwisely) staying at the ritzy place one minute from the airport. This was much better at a fraction of the cost. Pool was nice too. And there is a morning market next door alongside the driveway as you enter the hotel.
Just don't expect much. Price is right. They kept our dive gear and other bags for 13 days as we headed off to Cambodia and Laos. They asked little for doing so and all were very nice.
There is of course lots to criticize, but if you are looking to crash close by the airport for a night, this is a good place.

One night stopover before flying home. They did keep good contact before arrival to arrange a pick up at the airport but we ended up cancelling this and getting a taxi from the train station after an overnight train from Trang. No one helped with luggage and reception staff was not friendly. They did let us check in early but we had to take a twin room. Rooms were clean and spacious and overlooking the pool. Strong shower though no hot water. Tea, coffee, fridge, tv and nice balcony. Lovely pool area but no restaurant open until the end of November. Little market nearby but not much else. God bless tesco as we had to put together lunch from there. We ate dinner in a nearby seafood place which was good enough. The hotel is cheap and offers free transfer to the airport and has a nice pool. Other than that I didn't think much of it. There are definitely better to be found. The driver was cheeky in approaching us for a tip also. I would recommend looking at better options. Next time I will put more research into what I'm getting
