This buffet restaurant is part of White Orchid Hotel, situated in the bustling area of China Town, Bangkok. The buffet is available only on Friday to Sunday, evenings for 250 Baht ($USD 7). You can buy the voucher during the tourism fair for 199 Baht ($USD 6).
The buffet is available from 5pm. As I was quite hungry I arrived there slightly after 5pm. As I stepped into the hotel I can see the buffet in the hall way, there were already two customers. I was quite disappointed with the atmosphere as the dining area is in the hall way of the hotel where hotel guests walked pass by every minute. This is not an ideal place to have dinner. Anyway I was more interested with the food.
I surveyed the buffet to see what’s available. There are a variety of Thai dish, western dishes include Lasange, Pizza, and a soup. There is also dim sum available. I decided to go with dim sum first. As I was about to pick up the dim sum from the steamer, the staff told me that it’s not yet cooked, please come back in a few minutes. So I decided to go for Lasagne, one of my favorites and a cup of corn soup. My first bite into the Lasagne and it was dead cold! It seems like the food just came out from the freezer and not yet heated. The soup was not even warm, it was just at a room temperature. This is extremely disappointing. The pizza is not even made from real cheese but just a mayonnaise for the toppings. I tried all the food but none seems to be good. I went back to the dim sum for twice and was told by the staff that it’s not yet cooked. In the end it wasn’t until a little after 6pm that the dim sum is available, by the time I was already full. I can not understand why it is so unprepared. If the buffet starts at 5pm I expect the food to be edible by that time.
I really advise not to go to this place as you can get a far much better value by spending it elsewhere in Bangkok.
