“Just a basic hotel..Not worth to stay more than a night..!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

Stay here only if you are looking for some hotel near to bangkok attractions (Grand palace,Wat Arun,Wat traimit) and if you are looking just for a over-night stay..
Well.after seeing the reviews,I have chosen the hotel as I jus need a good place nearby Grand palace,Wat traimit for a over-night stay alone. None of the staff what a smile costs..Hotel provides just the basic amenities alone..Room was ok..But they have given us 2 single bed though we asked for a double bed.. it is not good in any other manner apart from the basics..
If you are planning to stay for more than a night, definitely you may need to think abt it again..

our 1st time stay in this hotel.

We reached the hotel past noon approaching 1pm. The hotel staff allowed us for the "early" checkin.

Overall, we are happy with the room we had. Reasonable size with 2 queen size beds. The only hitch we felt was there arent enough plug points in the room. We had to resort to make use of the plug points meant for the TV.

Wifi is not provided in the rooms (chargeable) only in the lobby.

Another concern we had in the room is - little crockcoaches!! We stayed in the hotel for 3 nites and had killed 4 of them in the room.

If you are a light sleeper, do not choose those rooms along the main road. You will hear the traffic sound even in the early morning like 6am (thai time)

We like very much the service of one particular reception staff. Instead of providing us just her name, she had even provided us her colleagues' names as well. But we took a photo of her - and promised that we will post her photo for her great service!

(1) upon our checkin - she has initiated to provide us the hotel name card and written in Thai for us (so we can use it to show tuk-tuk or taxi drivers coming bk to the hotel)

(2) each time we approached her for help, she will really go all out to provide us with great information and even additional information for us to travel around at ease.

(3) when we approached her for help to get a cab or tuk-tuk, she would quickly get hold of one of the conceirge staff and get them to assist us to hail a cab or tuk-tuk.

she is a very nice lady (her name should be Piya). we felt very much at ease whenever we see her at reception counter and all other "problems" we faced on the room seemed small to us.

A great staff of Miramar!!

There is also another uncle from Conceirge also very friendly. He helped us to our room upon checkin and showed us where are the switches for lights and pointed to us those water for consumption which are complimentary

Room Tip: select a room not facing the main road - traffic starts pretty early

I booked the hotel for the group of people. We had 8 rooms, majority for 2, and 2 rooms for 3 persons. Rooms are pretty ok, clean, good airconditioned. They are not new as the whole building but for all of us were good. We spent there time only during the night. Breakfast is paid separately. We decided to take it but honestly you can find better and cheaper outside. Hotel is average but I put very good due to its location. Very good, walking distance to Chinatown, Palace and river side. Using tuktuk for 20 to 40 bats you can easily get to everywhere you want. Hotel price vs expectations at very good ratio. Recommend to stay for short time.

Stayed with my husband & 2 kids. Beds are hard but surprisingly comfortable. Hotel is clean & modern. Close to china town, with a 24hr restaurant on the ground floor which was very convenient for us when we arrived at the hotel late & after long days shopping. The staff are fantastic. The only downside is that during the middle of the day until late afternoon the traffic in the area is terrible. But this was not enough to dampen our holiday or opinion of the hotel because taxis in Bangkok are dirt cheap.

I booked 2 nights of the Deluxe Room. I gave it an average because it was new and had a clean bathtub and carpeted corridors. It was about 6pm when we checked in after we reached Bangkok on our flight at Survarnabhumi Airport. During the check in process, we were served chilled drinks (probably Yuzu drink). The lobby was quite spacious and had free WiFi and daily papers.

Thirsty after our flight, it was exactly what we needed. And the bell boy took our luggage up to our rooms and set the air conditioner to max and told us about the 4 free bottles of Chang drinking water next to the fridge. The receptionists speak limited English, communication might be a struggle for some.

The room however was quite dim. There weren't enough sockets. For an example there was a water kettle next to one of the king sized beds but it didn't have a socket for us to plug it in. In the entire Deluxe room, only two sockets was found and both of them are behind the 40" LCD TV.

The beds were quite comfy but the pillows are too soft for my preference. Behind the hotel was the construction site of the extension of the Bangkok MRT line. It might get a little noisy sometimes according to the hotel staffs but I have not experienced any noise from the construction site during my stay at Miramar. But I have to mention this, there was this small cockroach had crawled out underneath the bed that we settled it with some toilet paper. This makes me doubt the cleanliness of the room. However the A/C did took a long time to cool the room.

The hotel is located at a pretty strategic location in Yaowarat (Chinatown), walking distance from Mega Plaza (pretty much empty with McDonalds), Thip Samai the famous Pad Thai, T&K Seafood, Wat Pho and Wat Phra Kaew. Therefore taking a taxi is not necessary..

Conclusion, will stay in other hotels if possible unless Yaowarat is your main attraction in your itinerary.

Stayed here in March 2013 and have to say it was lovely. Very clean and close to everything. Only downfall would be the lack of english spoken by the receptionist, as it was the first time in Bangkok we wanted some info but we could not get much. Other than that it was nice and I would stay again.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel was just under 300B from the airportin a taxi, plus 75B toll fees.
Reception staff dont speak much english but enough to get by. Room is very basic but clean, air-com worked well, tv had only 2 english channels. Our room on 4th floor was at the back of the hotel, i imagine the front would be quite noisy as it is a busy road and construction work opposite, although it was fairly quiet at the back (some noise of slamming doors but nothing major)
Very good location to walk to Grand Palace & Wat Pho, only approx 10min walk down straight road, quicker than getting a taxi because of so much traffic. Make sure you get a hotel business card from reception or carry the address as most taxi drivers dont know it. Short taxi ride approx 100B to khoa san road. There is some safety deposit boxes behind reception desk, free to rent but too small to fit i-pad, there was some larger ones but were all taken. All in all a decent budget hotel close to major attractions.

Room Tip: Room at the back of hotel away from main road.
