“Everything is perfect except .... read on to find out”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

This is my Xth stay in BKK Renaissance (stayed so many times; lost track).
Check-in was smooth.
Room was clean and tidy when checked-in.
F&B outlets have great staff who are friendly and attentive.
Gym was good to go, as always; did not try Quan Spa this stay.
Executive lounge was, as usual, conducive for relaxation and casual meetings.
Check-out was smooth.
Everything was perfect other than the fact that my Marriott Rewards Points were credited wrongly. As a Plat member, i find this hard to swallow.
I have just got an immediate Plat status from IHG of hotels after i emailed them my history of stays (i am away from home around 200 days a year).
This are the cold hard facts of competition for Marriott and her affiliates.

We visited Bangkok for the culture of this amazing city and for the New Years celebration. We had beautiful city views from the room and from the restaurant that we had breakfast in each day. The room was very modern and clean. The pool was beautiful and offered a nice escape from the heat of the afternoon. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us navigate the city as well as call for taxis. This Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel
is directly across from the Central World Marketplace and could not have been more convenient for the holiday activities. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very nice, good looking and well equipped close to the shopping district in bkk. Hotel is situated on a back street so it calm outside.

Here is a summary:

General standards: very good, fresh and with a good feel and modern look.

Lobby area: very large, spacious and good for hanging out or meetings.

Bar: rbar is a good and fun place but the pool bar on 23rd floor is great. Fantastic views over bangkok.

Restaurants: both the chinese and the italian restaurants offer really good food. In fact, better than expected. Def worth a visit when staying here.

Rooms: i had a cornere suite on the top floor, which was superb, but i cant comment on the normal rooms. The suite is very spacious, modern decor, all equipment you need and plenty of power outlets. Good connectivity to wifi as well. Massive bathroom with bathtub and a shower room.

Executive club: really good on the top floor. Superb service, board room for hire, good selection of drinks and food.

Service: excellent throughout the hotel.

Confeence facilities: very good, spacious but not too big. Modern and good audio and visual.

All in all a very good place and definitely worth a visit. I would be very happy to come back.

Dear 54Bulldogs,

Thanks for choosing to stay with us for your 3 night stay recently. It is great to read that you liked to room and loved the breakfast choices. The culinary team work hard to ensure that the breakfast options are different every day and it also keeps our guests discovering.

It is very nice to read that you prefer our hotel over hotels previously stayed in the city. Renaissance hotels are the lifestyle hotel brand for Marriott and as such this hotel reflect a trendy, chic design which many people love.

Look forward to having you stay again soon,

Safe travels and kind regards

The location of the hotel is great - of course not right now with the protests, however in general a great location.
The lounge breakfast, snacks afternoon and evening lives up to the Asian standard of Marriott's properties.
I always stay here if not just on a stopover at the airport.

We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel when we arrived in Bangkok for the beginning of our travels.

The hotel is newly built and inside it is very glamorous and staff are professional.

Our room was on the 18th floor with great views of the city. The room itself was extremely comfortable with a bed to die for, the bathroom was stylish and had a lovely walk in shower.

As for food, there was a bar area and a few other nice restaurants. Location wise there is a train stop just outside which makes travel very easy.

Dear feist89,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us on your recent trip to Bangkok. It is great to read you loved the room and the views that it offered of the city. Many of our rooms offer fantastic views over the Royal Bangkok Sports Club or over the city towards the Ploenchit side. I am happy to read you found the bed to die for! They are very comfortable indeed!

Hope to see you back in Bangkok in the near future and please think of us again.

We stayed for 6 nights here in December 2013. This should be a good hotel and in many ways it is, but I guess we just were a bit unlucky. As we often visit Bangkok, we usually stay in other nearby hotels, but this time, we thought that for a change, we should try the Renaissance Ratchaprasong.
As I am a member of the Marriott Rewards, I have inputted in my profile "high floor", as we like to stay high and get the best views at whatever hotel we stay. Upon arrival here, the kind check-in woman asked if we wanted an "upgrade" to the Club room floor. The downside of this was that this would be in a lower floor that if we chose the room we initially had been given. On the other side - as this was a Club room, we guessed it should be even better and nicer than the room we had booked. Well, we thought and discussed this for a minute or so, and decided to give the Club room a try. So, I will not blame the staff as I guess they were just trying to be good, but we surely did not get the best room in the floor. Lesson learned - stay with the room-type you see on the net and book in the first place. The Club floor (at least our room) was on the 10th floor, and at the very end of the corridor (room 1028). Meaning, you are looking straight into the Maneeya office building. Due to the construction of this room, both the bedroom and the bathroom are real "showrooms" to people in this office building, and if you want the slightest privacy i.e. when showering, you need to keep the blinds or curtains shut, daytime as nighttime. This obviously makes the room VERY dark. Further - the near building blocks any view or sunlight, so the room is kind of dark even the curtains are left open.
Add to this the general dark (although stylish) atmosphere of this hotel, being it the rooms, Lobby, corridors, elevators etc, we REALLY felt we were living "on the dark side" for our whole stay. Actually quite depressing for so many days...
Finally, the room was not very well isolated from the surroundings, and I felt we heard the neighbors a little too much, like when they showering or talking, and especially when they entered or left their rooms.
So, by this blastoff - over to some positive things. The room had a good and well functioning air-condition, and a stable Wi-Fi/Internet service. And the bed itself was hard and to our liking. Bathroom amenities and wardrobe amenities like an iron board and shoeshine sponge etc. were present - as it should in a room of this class. We arrived on Christmas Eve, and had pre-booked our dinner at the Flavors Restaurant . The food was excellent, staff very helpful, and they really managed to create a good Christmas Eve atmosphere. A great evening.
We also had a dinner later at this place (ordering a custom pizza and a typical Thai dish, fried pork with basil leafs), and it tasted equally good.
On the top of the hotel you will find a modern fitness studio, and a huge pool. This is partially outdoors, and at the time we stayed the water was really cold (unusual in Bangkok) so we jumped in only once, but that said the pool is long and offers great long-swim opportunities. Next to the pool is the bar and cafe H2O were we enjoyed a coffee one of the days. Stylish, nice and worth a visit.
So, finally, I guess we will choose not to stay here again due to the reasons explained above, but if you DO like this kind of dark, high class, style mood in hotels, please do not hesitate to stay here. Everything else is excellent, inclusive the most professional and helpful staff.

Room Tip: High floor, above other nearby buildings. (Not the Club floor)

Dear Bent N,

Thank you for your stay and your review of the hotel and in particular the room that you were allocated during your recent stay. Being a city center hotel we do have some rooms that do not afford the best of views of the city however, the room that you were allocated does benefit from a larger room and bathroom but does not have the views that other rooms do offer. The team would have been only too pleased to show you other rooms which may be more to your liking, especially as you stayed 6 nights.

It is great to read that you enjoyed your Christmas eve in Flavors and that the team managed to create a great atmosphere. It is also nice to read you enjoyed the rest of your stay and the amenities that we have to offer.

What is always the most enjoyable to read is that the team of ambassadors were professional, kind and helpful. I hope they all made your stay extra enjoyable.

Thanks again for your stay and safe travels ahead,

Kind regards
