This is one of the newest hotels in the city and I heard haven't had its grand opening yet. Located near the shopping belt of Central, Siam Paragon, it's probably shopper's heaven for the tourists. The lobby is the standard ultra modern and slick and the check-in service was prompt and polite. The elevator was also the usual 21st century style - mirrors, glass, leather, tv, chi chi music etc. The room was nice, with the typical see through bathroom and must have flat screen tv. I must commend on the room service. I stay in about 40 hotels a year in the past 9 years and never have I heard room service asking "are you allergic to any food". Excellent touch. Room internet was speedy, though not free. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The range does not befit a 5 star bangkok hotel. The gym was fine, perched above on the top floor, together with the pool. The pool is not totall indoors as other reviewers may have mentioned. There is a roof yes, but the sides are open for the view and fresh air. Chic look as well. Service in general was good, all the front desk, housekeeping, room service, doorman staff are always ready with the thai hospitality smile and asking how your day was.

I was impressed by this new Hotel of the Marriott chain. The only disadvantage for me was the at night you always need a taxi to go to some place that has action.
The hotel is really new and features an impressive lobby, styled up in every way. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Security check and metal detector in lobby. The pool is on a very high floor and u have a great view over the city, nice for sundown.
I will be coming back next time and book a club room. For this rate you can get quite many good hotels in Bangkok but this is one of the best i have seen so far. The glasswall to the bathroom with the electric curtain is really a nice toy.

The hotel benefits from excellent rooms and attentive service. Travelling with children, we were disappointed that the pool was closed for maintenance when we arrived, but it was only for a few days. As the hotel is in commissioning phase, the main restaurant and spa centre were yet to open. However, our stay was enjoyable with the staff extremely friendly and willing to ensure that our stay is comfortable. The connecting rooms are modern and spacious with our children enjoying the hotel facilities. The buffet breakfast, in the small Italian restaurant, was extensive and catered to our dietary requirements. Location is superb given proximity to skytrain and the walkway that connects with Central and Siam.

Very nice hotel, very competitive prices. Good sized room, nice design. The pool on the 33rd floor (covered) is quite a spectacular setting. Very friendly staff. One minute to Chit Lom BTS station. There is a McDonald's about a minute away, and the Central Department store is across the street with lots of great places to eat.

I spent two nights during Sept in the Renaissance. The hotel is 6 months old and the room rate was very competetive. It is close to Sukumvit and a BTS stop so is well located for getting around Bangkok. You do however have to walk through the car park to exit the hotel and you do need to take care where you tread during a rainstorm or at night.

From check in to check out the staff were efficient and pleasant. The buffet breakfast was good with all the standard trappings of a Bangkok 5 star (fresh fruit, cereals, chef cooking eggs etc) I had one meal in the Chinese restaurant which was also of high standard.

However, I didn't really warm to the hotel. It is decked out in Chrome, mirrors and shades of brown with formica surfaces everywhere. All very trendy I know but it felt austere and impersonal to me. the Foyer, downstairs bar and corridors have very little natural light and there is nothing to make you feel like you are in Thailand. No sunshine, no greenery, no view, just concrete. I felt as though I could have been in any city hotel during winter. There is a swimming pool but it is indoors.

The room was spacious, bed comfortable and it had the ubiquitous 'bathroom in the bedroom' with an electric shutter screening off the bath/toilet if needed. The rain shower was lovely but I did unwittingly flood the bathroom and when I apologised to the maid was told that it was a common problem and that was why she always kept a mop with her. The airco was powerful but impossible to regulate other than on/off.

Overall I felt that the hotel would appeal to some. It is clean, well run and conveniently located but for those who wish to feel that they are in Thailand there are better choices close by.

This hotel has got it totally right all the way, starting from the location. This hotel is located right in the centre of town and ofcourse very well connected by the BTS and one way to look at this hotel is that you can get from one end of Bangkok to the other end of Bangkok without using an umbrella even if its raining.
The hotel is brand new so everything is spick and span, the pool is excellent and one thing if i really have to complain is that the Steam and sauna locker rooms are really small for such a large hotel. The best part of this hotel is the staff really at your service all the time and just ready to help you in every which way.
The breakfast was really nice and probably one of the best waffles had by me in Thailand.
Trhe rooms have very good views and the bathrooms are really nice and comfortable including the wonderful amenities.
I would definately come back to this hotel and this is now my preferred address in Bangkok

I have stayed at Marriott Hotels extensively and though they are all good.. this Renaissance stands head and shoulders above the others. The tipping point at this site is the staff, particularly is one is lucky to stay on the Executive Lounge Floor ( 21st). The young women who work there ( Apple and Ploy) are so helpful, always happy, speak excellent English and can give you guidance on matters from, how to take the new Airport Train to the Airport ( for 15 baht) to where to go to see movies or shop and things more typical. They even remember one's name and can pronounce it with accuracy. This Renaissance gets it...and for that I will be returning whenever I return to BKK.
