“Chic looking, very trendy hotel with great service & location”
Reviewed 7 February 2011

Location - In front of Chitlom station, almost connected through the skywalk and walking distance distance to the shopping centres in Siam. U can take a train from the airport and with one change u can reach the hotel. No taxi hassle.

Feel of the hotel - The hotel is awesome to stay in. The lobby has the best ever centre piece hanging from top, some sort of a modern design but i loved it. It has a very new elegant feel, very trendy design, black exteriors, nice dark colored interiors with steel/chrome finishes everywhere. very intriguing look and feel to the hotel. while walking around, i walked in to the ballroom which looked as if it has been created just for what i was looking for. The swimming pool is at the top floor adjacent to the fitness centre and the spa. Well to be honest i dont like the smell of spa oils in the air. they make the place stuffy and not fresh, but thats sumthing that i am least bothered about, u get used to it in a minute.

Rooms - Very comfy rooms. They have everything perfectly in place from the connectivity cables of ur laptops and all the other nice stuff. Very comfy beds, have a very nice interior feel to it. Bathrooms have a very nice bathtub like an old era style which sits in the centre without touching the sides. Overall the room - 5 stars.

Staff - Very friendly staff, extremely helpful always smiling, no hassles. Saovapak (if the name is right) and one more gal at the reception (forgot the name) were very sweet. The service overall - 5 stars, right from the room attendant to the front desk, concierge and FnB. Awesome guys, keep it up.
Bangkok City - Full of life, loads to do. From sight seeing to boat rides, to shopping, under water parks, bars, pubs, everything. Bangkok is loaded.

Was a very good trip overall.

The Renaissance Bangkok is a beautiful Design hotel with all the amenities a 5 star property has to offer. You instantly feel its modern vibes as you enter: the lighting, décor, furnishings, smells and the tunes. Even its elevators are spiffy with leather-bound walls, computer screens and cool ambient music.

Room: We booked for three nights and were upgraded to the Renaissance Suite. Wow! we were very impressed by its spacious 62 SQM size, and its colorful yet luxuriously classy furnishings. Fantastic room full of light with a view facing Chitlom Central. It was a great place for the family to relax with a bed area with a huge flat screen TV, sitting area and work desk. There is also a comfortable chair with coffee table next to the huge windows. The king bed was clean and comfortable with plenty of pillows. All furnishings were of high quality wood and other materials. The floor was a mix of artfully designed rugs and wooden floors. The bathroom was impeccable with tile, glass, and marble floor and walls and separate tub and a spacious shower glass enclosure with city views. Fancy toiletries and plenty of quality towels and a baby bathroom kit were provided daily.

Service: was impeccable by front desk, housekeeping, restaurants, and lounge staff. Nightly turn down services was performed. We requested a baby cot for our toddler son and it was provided promptly. Taxi cabs were summoned when needed to the hotel’s front door. Concierge recommended going to Sanam Luang Park to observe the king’s birthday. Staff were very friendly , courteous, and responsive to all our requests especially Khun Panida at the Lounge.

Food: Breakfast was included in our room rate and we partook it every morning at Flavors Restaurant on the second floor. The excellent breakfast spread was awesome and typical of breakfast buffet found at many 5-star hotels in Bangkok. We also were served teatime drinks and pastries between 3-5 PM daily, and happy hours cocktails and food at the lounge between 6-8 PM nightly. Great food at both outlets but for lack of time, we did not try the other restaurants (Italian and Chinese).

The indoor pool is on the hotel’s top floor with awesome views of the city. The spa which is on the same floor is nice and has cozy feeling. The Spa staff is very hospitable as they served me some good warm lemongrass tea when I stopped by to review their service menu. There is also a gym with exercise machines on this top floor.

Location: is excellent as the Chitlom BTS station is right outside the hotel parking entrance and Siam Paragon is the next BTS station over. Also, the hotel is situated across the street from Central Chitlom and its famous “Food Loft” foodcourt written about it in the New York Times’ Travel Section. The hotel is within walking distance to Erawan, Gaysorn, and CentralWorld. There are many shops (groceries, exchange booths, 7-11, Starbucks, etc.) within 2-minutes walking distance from the hotel.

We have stayed at the JW Marriott for over 100 night in the past few years but from now on this hotel will be our home in Bangkok … we will be back!

My husband and I stayed for three nights in this hotel wanted to greet New Year in Bangkok.
Hotel is at excellent location - you can reach everything easily by walk and have abundance of taxis and tuk-tuks + metro line is next to it if you want to go to Chatuchak market.
We were not properly greeted when we arrived at hotel. Two giggly girls who one of them was trainee didn't give us any info of hotel and if my husband didn't ask of when and where the breakfast will be we wouldn't get that info either. Usually we handle our own luggage (learned through years we are much faster than hotel service) but seeing nice hotel we decided otherwise which was mistake. Bellman was nowhere to find so we decided to pick up our own luggage and head for the room.
Room was stylish and beautiful as well as view we had.
Internet is not free which for this type of hotel should be given.
Coffee is excellent. Coffee in this hotel could par easily to any Starbucks entity.
Swimming pool is freezing therefore we didn't use it much.
Breakfast food is mediocre for the price we were paying. Eggs cook had long line of people waiting - kitchen was mismanaged.
We decided we're going to try one of the restaurants in the hotel and our choice was Fei Ya which was mistake. We ordered food and waited forever (at least 45 min.) before food arrived not in order we requested. Every time we spoke with some of the waiters / waitresses they would say they don't understand and never came back. It was very disappointing. Wouldn't come back to this restaurant neither would recommend it to anybody else.
It was problem getting taxi in front of the hotel - again mismanaged.
When we were leaving - there was no bell boy in sight to help us with luggage. There was a girl (don't know in which capacity of the hotel) but she kinda expected us to help her load a luggage.
This hotel has a potential for a good four star hotel with the right management.

The hotel is outstanding, rooms are big and comfortable. Service is good but concierge could improve. Breakfast is really good and location is great with a skywalk station 1 minute from the hotel that can take you to the riverside.

As a regular guest of the nearby JW Marriott over the past 5 years, I thought I would give the new Renaissance a try. The Renaissance is a beautiful new property, colorful quirky and unique decor, giant bathrooms, great technology, wonderful staff and a great location right across the street from 2 of the largest and best shopping malls in the world. The fitness center has a good selection of brand new high tech equipment, and the club lounge has what a good club lounge should. In many measurable ways, the Renaissance is newer, more high tech, better furnished and better located than the JW Marriott. Still, I moved from the Renaissance to the JW. I would recommend the Renaissance to anyone. But there's something to be said for walking in after being away for 6-12 months and the staff remembers me by name, remembers how I like my drink made and what kind of flowers I like in my room. I have no doubt that if I gave give the Renaissance that chance, they will do the same. I just didn't want to start over. Plus, while the Renaissance has the feeling of a new business hotel - the kind of place I would want on any of my 100+ nights per year in Marriott-family hotels that fits right into the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, the JW has a serenity and a calmness that makes it like an oasis in a big city. Both great hotels. I'd recommend the Renaissance to anyone, especially if shopping is one of your main reasons for coming to Bangkok.

Great location with excellent value for money. Staff were very attentive from the moment you pulled up in a taxi until the end of the stay.
Fitness centre/spa was excellent - as was the quality of room service.
