“Simple understated comfortable hotel!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

Ive stayed at De Arni on two separate weekends and I found the place very comfortable, clean, understatedly chic and supremely quiet eventhough it skims the Patpong nightlife area.
It just skims the very edge of all the bars, clubs and shopping of the famous Silom district so everything is in walking distance. The staff are also very helpful and friendly.

Small, comfortable boutique hotel in the middle of bustling Bangkok. It was a little oasis in the middle of this crazy city. Good points - friendly staff, lovely bar and small terrace on the street, location and clean and well appointed room. Bad points - beds hard as a rock, no swimming pool and wifi a bit hit and miss. However, the care and attention from the staff is second to none, you feel, very safe here and it is, in my opinion worth the money.

Room Tip: All rooms have a street view. It's a city centre hotel. Location, location, location

This is a mid range hotel in the heart of the Silom/bangrak area of bangkok, a brisk 5 minute walk to the sky train that is a two stop hop to Siam Square and to The Chao Praya river in the opposite direction. It is situated on the upper end of surawong road! a 5 minute walk to Lumpini park which is a cool oasis in the city. It's also a 5 minute walk to the Red Cross Snake park which makes for a fantastic visit. Surrounded by both formal and informal eateries, the famous patpong nightlife (across the road), it is still provides a quiet good nights sleep. The room that we had was on the 7th floor overlooking Surawong road, large windows and a really firm big bed. Extremely comfortable room with a clean large bathroom. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Loved this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 5 th floor

I was mixed when I left the hotel. I have read the reviews here before doing the reservation, so I think I had to make a more objective review.
First starting with the bad points. The main issue is the cigarette smoke smell all over the place that is hardly hidden by the freshener in all the hotel. The hotel display a non smoking sign but apparently this is not enforced and some people are smoking in the rooms. It is disgusting and the hotel should kick out these people as they are ruining the hotel reputation. Second the carpet in the corridors have stains and are really dirty. Last, because the hotel is located close to Patong and the sex venues, it is used as a good quality short time hotel by some and you can listen people crazy, drunk and having fun with girls or Katoe thru the walls... the place is noisy outside if you are on the road, and do not expect the noise stopping after midnight, it is a hot place where people go out until late in the morning.
Ok now the good points. The staff is amazing, you are welcomed with the best smile you can expect from Thailand, people are helpful in all situations, like if it is raining, they will propose you an umbrella, the valet parking is taking good care of the car and help your to go in/out from the tiny parking. The hotel is small be the lobby is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, internet is free in all the rooms, the bed is excellent, the bathroom is above average, there is a flat screen TV. It is 10 min walk from Silom BTS station, and 10 min wth taxi from BMK and Siam Paragon. You can walk 2 km to them if you want. On the other direction you are also at about 2 km from the Chaopraya river where a boat can drive you to the temples like Wat Arun, or Wat Po. It is of course 5 min from Patong street and all the pussies and 'fresh boys' if you like it, and there is a crowdy market that sells all the things you can find everywhere else in Thailand tourist zones, plus some special items like the Ice smoking pipes (!) and the sex toys. Not sure if they are legally on display but it is Patong crazyness. Lot of restaurants around from Mexicans to Steak Houses, but not too many cheap Thai food shops. Your girlfriend might be disappointed to not find her favorite noodle soup there. But if you like Mexican, try Sunshine tacos and enjoy a huge American size meal, you cannot finish yourself!

Room Tip: Choose the superiors room when they are in promotion in Agoda for example. There are some tiny rooms...

This hotel really convenience in term of foods, shopping & nightlive activities surround the area. Transportation very easy to find. You may find the massage service surround the area. You can explore MRT near to this hotel, the train can bring you to Siam Centre.

Room Tip: Choose the higher room you may see nice view of the city.

The De Arni Hotel is located next door to Le Meridien and opposite the Patpong night market. As Bangkok doesn't seem to have a conventional city centre this is about as perfect a tourist base as possible. The first room I was given had a dreadful smell of smoke despite being on a non-smoking floor but the receptionist willingly changed it for a clean-smelling room on a different floor.

The king-size bed was comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked and the bathroom was fine. Although my room faced the main road, the traffic noise wasn't a problem. My room rate didn't include breakfast so I can't comment on the hotel food.

The hotel does seem to operate a 'guest friendly' policy but this is done very discreetly. Overall the de Arni is a great little hotel to suit all visitors to Bangkok.

a great little hotel. if you are looking to be on top of the night market, this is it, right across the street. after a ruined reservation at the Siam Heritage, walked here for a room and was warmly welcomed. despite walk-in, rate was very reasonable. room large, with a private balcony, sitting area, comfy bed, and plenty of space all around. old CRT TV, but one can always watch TV at home. bathroom also large, good water pressure, shower with glass sliders (no moldy curtains here). everything meticulously clean. staff's friendliness is outstanding even for Thai standards. breakfast buffet more than adequate, in a pleasant restaurant. wifi was strong and reliable, and unlike other reviewers, cannot confirm that furniture or bedding was in any need of repair, all looked pretty new.

can only highly recommend to those who'd rather pay a third the going rate for the Meridien next door.
