“Good price, OK location, really large rooms, good value”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

The rooms in the hotel are very spacious. We stayed at the hotel twice, with one day apart between the two visits (taking a night tour to Kanchanabury). On our return the second visit we were upgraded to a suite – with two bedrooms, a living room and two bathrooms – huge. The first two nights we stayed at a regular room which was still very big, with a separate living space, and a big bathroom. Both rooms had a kitchenette. The rooms are not so well decorated – no pictures or artwork (there are nice wooden panels). The most annoying aspect of the design is a glass wall between the bathroom and the bedroom.
In the bathroom there are bottles for soap and cream, but they are not labeled. No shampoo or conditioner.
The service itself needs improvement. We asked for a shampoo and an iron, and waited for half an hour, and two reminders before we got the shampoo (the iron required another reminder).
There was no "hotel booklet" with hotel info (such as pool opening hours and the like). On the third day I found that the information is available on the hotels TV, but I like to have it in a booklet.
Breakfast was good: fruits, French toast, pancakes, cereals, muffins, strong coffee, baked tomatoes.
The pool is on the second floor, between the two towers of the hotel. It has a nice infinity edge, and a coffee shop is overlooking the pool. The poolside café has only two types of desert and only one type of cake (which was good). The lobby has no café. Only a bar.
The hotel is about 300 meters- 7 minutes walk from a skytrain station. It is not on the main road but rather inside an alley. During traffic hours – do not call for a cab from inside the hotel. It will be 40 minutes before it arrives. Just go outside to the main road for a cab.

Room Tip: It does not matter if you get a room on a high floor or a lower floor - all rooms have great view

The rooms are clean and well maintained, overall nice, pool water was a bit too cold as the area has a lot of shadows from tall buildings. Prices for food and drink way to high for Thailand.

Room Tip: Double bedroom suite is nice when you are two friends but still want your privacy, you have separate...

Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. We were only stopping overnight and expected a deluxe room but were upgrated to a suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining area and living room - amazing! Bright a sunny accommodation. Excellent breakfast buffet, pity we didn't have more time to enjoy the pool.

Lovely hotel and rooms in a good location! Great food and amenities and the service is mostly excellent except for a very strange minibar service where you needs to pay in advance to put in it what you might want! Think that defeats the point of having a mini bar somewhat!!! Anyway there is a good supermarket not far away so if you can get through your first night if you arrive late, head there in the morning!

Also there seems to be no nice touches or even an acknowledgement for returning guests! Missing a customer loyalty trick there I think!!

I also had a problem with my room not being available but they did deal with the situation quite well although I rely so hate having to change rooms during my stay!!!

One final note, if you are a white wine drinker! They are always out of the Australian Sauvignon Blanc and the house white is pretty ghastly!!!

Overall, a bit disappointing compared to a previous visit but there is still some patches of great service and problems are resolved quickly, which I guess is a good thing!

The staff really made us feel welcome!

we were travelling with our son and everyone was incredible nice with him. they played sang and danced with him every time we were around.

Front desk could use some English lessons but other than that it was amazing service!

clean room, spacious and with a wonderful view.

Bangkok is a hectic city! We were happy to stay away from the nocturnal craziness but yet close enough to public transport and amazing restaurant.

Playroom for kids is great so as the pool.

Restaurant was good but a bit over priced.

Absolutely recommended and I hope we can comeback soon.

Thanks to all the staff who made Tomas feel like home.

My wife and I were invited to attend a wedding in Bangkok so we decided to make a long weekend holiday out of it. When we researched on where to stay we were keen on both price and its proximity to the wedding venue. At the end we chose the Anantara because it was the cheapest 5-Star that was a taxi ride away from the venue. Not to go into too many details, I want to stress on the following aspects of this hotel:
1. Distance to BTS Chong Nonsi: While the Anantara provides free shuttle bus service to this station every 1/2 hour, you would have to WALK back in the evening if you choose not to take a taxi. This walk under the hot and humid Bangkok sky will leave you sweaty and more exhausted after a long day. It's a 15-20 minutes walk depending on your pace. If we go back next time, we'll be sure to spend a little bit more and stay someone closer to a BTS.
2. Room: We got a suite which had a lot of space with a large sitting/dining room and a separate bedroom. It's nice to have space but the condition of the furnishings looked a bit worn. It sure didn't WOW us when we walked in.
3. Amenities: The charm of traveling to an exotic locale and staying at a "5-Star" hotel is to see new things. One of our pet peeves is to see what type of teas they have at the mini-bar or shampoo/lotion they offer to their guests. With the former, we got two damp bags of Lipton and the later is a trio of shampoo, conditioner, and body gel that literally smelled and looked the same. These products sure didn't look expensive or spa quality.
4. Breakfast: The quality was solid but we didn't see or taste anything that lingered on our palettes. We did appreciate the selection of local fruits. The service was chaotic when the staff didn't make sure that the guests were led to their tables. We waited naively at the reception, while other people sprinted for unoccupied tables.
5. Service/hospitality: It was okay but we didn't feel like royalty. We'll need to stay at the Four Seasons next time to compare.

Room Tip: Bring your own toothbrush and paste because the hotel doesn't provide any.

I stayed here for four days whilst solo in Bangkok. There was a mix up with my airport transport pick- up but after emailing the manager was sorted out with a free trip back to apologize. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and decorated nicely. I loved sitting by the pool and I went to the spa for a massage which was lovely. The gym is well equipped and not too busy, I tended to go in the mornings but it is open all hours I believe. The location is very close to two skytrain stations which makes getting around easy. Room service was prompt and the food I ordered was of good quality. However not cheap as walking outside the hotel there is many options. You have to pay for internet and to watch a movie is very expensive 500 baht, about 20 NZD. I would recommend this hotel though. Was very please overall.
