“Lovely hostel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2014 via mobile

I stayed here for two nights and had chosen it based on good location, friend's recommendation and a desire not to be in the middle of backpacker central. As my first solo introduction to a hostel it was very good.

The hostel was lovely, clean and with very friendly and helpful staff. I was in the six-bed female dorm which had good beds, towels and a power outlet, shelf and light per bunk.

There was only one other in my dorm and indeed there were not many people staying here at all. If you are looking for somewhere pleasant, clean and with friendly staff but not necessarily wanting to meet a tonne of people then this is a great place to stay.

The hostel is very nice and is located behind a cafe (same entrance). I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm which was really nice. There were plenty of showers and bathrooms just outside the room and the room had big lockers where you could fit your whole backpack. By every bed there was a power socket and a little shelf to put your stuff. In the rooms there was aircon, but outside of the rooms it was really hot since there were no fans/ aircon. The beds were very comfortable and the whole place looked very fancy! The rooms and bathrooms/ showers were very clean. The girls at the reception (which was in the cafe) were really friendly and helpful regarding all kinds of tipps about BKK and what to do. The Wifi works really well and they had a laptop which you could borrow.
The only thing I didn't really like was the common room, because it was really small and consisted in a TV and a couch. It was still ok to meet people but it could be bigger and have more space to sit. The cafe was probably a better place to hang out (the coffee there is really good!)

Room Tip: The 6 bed female dorm on the first floor was really nice, the bathrooms & showers were right out...

The staff was friendly and efficient and spoke very good English. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing spectacular. I had a private room and it was clean and very spacious. Shower had good pressure and enough hot water. Despite my room being against the street, noise was limited and I slept just fine.

Biggest con is the location, which isn't the best, but it isn't a dealbreaker as getting a tuktuk is easy enough.

Me and my friends stayed in a 6 bed shared dorm and there's not a bad word I can say about this place. I liked that you are asked to leave your shoes at the bottom of the stairs before going to your room, it created a chilled and homely feel. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the cleaner was very friendly and would be singing at the top of her voice which was adorable! The staff were lovely people, always said hello to us and made us feel very welcome! Not far from khao San road at all, only a 10-15 minute walk. We met lots of interesting a travellers in our shared rooms. Overall it was perfect.

Great location (it's actually across the street from what our Street Food tour guide said was the best pad-thai restaurant in the city!); Excellent staff (very friendly and helpful and made some excellent suggestions about things to do and see that we would not have thought about ourselves!); Nice, clean rooms and comfortable beds (for anyone who has traveled around Asia--you know just how extremely rare a comfortable bed is!!). The location was pretty good-- it's a nice place to walk around and explore and a short tuk-tuk ride from most of the things you'll want to see in Bangkok.

Room Tip: I would request a room on one of the upper floors of the hostel because it's much quieter!

I stayed in Silom first and didn't care too much for the location, but found Niras on hostelworld and loved the location. Right next to the great swing and walking distance to the grand palace, khao San road, and ferry docks. The staff was also very helpful and made excellent coffee! My friend and I also really enjoyed the common room where we could watch movies (which they had an amazing selection of titles). The only thing that could have been better was that the beds were pretty creaky so that every movement that was made you could hear. The lockers, although very big, also made lots of noise too. But overall I loved my stay here!

having been to many hostels between 1000 and 1500 baht a night, niras is very basic, too basic for us.

beds are extremely hard, interior is ultrabasic (supposed to be old thai style) and shared toliet (combined with shower) was not cleaned in the 24 hours we were there.

the cafe downstairs is cute, though as tiny and fragile as the rest of the hostel (especially the wooden "walls").

definitely not good for comfort, otherwise quite unique for a day or two.

Dear valued guest,
Thank you for your comments. We are very disappointed that we haven't received your comments and sorry that all comments are from discontent of cancellation policy that we could refund you in case that you cancelled nights during your stay in the peak season.
However,We would like to clairfy each issue based on the fact as below :
1. For pricing of budget room around 1,000 baht , we would like to ensure that the price 's in line with other quality hostels in Bangkok.
2.For the bed, it's quality with average level of hardness,However, we respect your personal opinion.
3. For cleanliness , as the fact, we have qualified standard that we check at least 3 times a day for shared bathrooms including housekeeping at noon, afternoon shift at 2pm and security at night and early morning.
4.For wooden interior , it's our style of retro thai style combined with modern comfort, we do hope guests will appreciate and understand values of our culture and preserved 100 year olds property.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
Best regards, Niras Team
