“Quirky little stay”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

If we'd have known about this hotel on our way out to Cambodia (when we had a three night stay in bangkok planned) We'd have definately stayed here!! Unfortunately we only descoverd it on our return back to the UK via Bangkok, and only stayed one night. The staff were very helpfull, and the hotel is definately the most quirky I've stayed in, if you love art and somthing interesting to look at everywhere you look then this is the place for you. We had to leave early the next morning so missed breakfast so cant comment on that. Also missed the market as it was a Thursday night stay leaving early Friday morning, which was a shame. If I ever have to go back to Bangkok I would definately stay here again.

The deco are very nicely pop, room are veru spacious, clean and silent, the staff is superkind and helpful.
Recommended for a quick weekend in Bangkok, mainly if one of the target is the Chatuchak weekend market.

We stayed in Mystic Place for 3 nights while visiting Bangkok for holiday. We usually would just pick a decent hotel, 4 or 5 star with the best value on online booking site. But then I came across Mystic Place on trip advisor, it caught my interest for the unique concept and quirky designs. Other things that add up to that is their location, accessibility, and extremely affordable rates. My boyfriend was a bit skeptical about the hotel, but overall Mystic Place had exceed our expectation and made our stay in Bangkok to be much more interesting.

The hotel is located on the busy Pradipat Road, which offers plenty of local elements. You can find street vendors (plenty on the night time), local restaurants, hair salons (which opens to 9 pm) among other things.

Tips:
When you are traveling by taxi to the hotel, just say you are going to Pradipat hotel on Pradipat Road. Mystic Place is located a few meters across the Pradipat hotel. From Suvarnabhumi airport, you can take the sky-train (or BTS), with a stop in an intersection station to switch train that leads to the nearest station (Saphan Khwai), then followed by a few minutes ride on a tuk-tuk or cab to reach the hotel.
The hotel provides a regular shuttle service (on their private tuk-tuk) to Saphan Khwai station, you can easily check with the reception for the schedule. One time when we were there, the shuttle was unavailable due to maintenance, then as a substitute the hotel staff directly arranged a tuk-tuk to take us to the station - free of charge.

When we checked in, the reception put us in 203 or the "Wish You Are Here" room. But because each room has different theme and designs, we decided to check out the other vacant rooms and then choose to spent the night at the "Cinema" room. The room is very spacious, there is even an extra single bed on a separate area in that room. It has 2 balcony, 1 double bed + 1 single bed, a shower, a seating area with TV and DVD player. The room seems a bit old, but the overall theme and decoration is pretty cool. It is just a bit inconvenient because it is located on the 4th floor, the only way up is by the stairs.

The next day we decided to try out a different room and after looking all the options we ended up in 203 (or the "Wish You Are Here" room). This room is located on the ground floor, outside the main hotel building that seems to be a new extension of the hotel. It is as spacious as the other room but this one got a small private terrace with a yellow wooden table for 4. It is just perfect.

Breakfast buffet is served from 7 - 10 am. They don't have a big range of selections, mainly Thai and American Breakfast that both are quite tasty. Or you can also pick from their restaurant menu. I think the food is pretty good.

Other things I like about the hotel is that we can easily access the internet wirelessly in the whole area of the hotel, 2 public computers are available to use at the restaurant area. They also provide DVDs that you can borrow to watch in your room. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. Bottom line is that we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Rather than lavishness, it has a homey feeling to it. If you are up for something out of the ordinary and looking for a lot of local experience, then this place is definitely a must try!

Room Tip: Since the rooms have different themes, ask the reception for the room menu when you check in and see...

Just love this hotel. The people are so helpful and kind. There is a buffet breakfast included, a cafe downstairs, close to shopping and chutachut markets, in the business district so quiet at night. Each room is designed by a local artist and are amazing. Just so happy to be here after an awful experience the previous night.

No pool but they will organise for you to use other hotel pools for a small charge.

My mum and I spent 3 nights in the Rice Room (stunning, simple and clean) in October 2012 and what a great experience. Loved the quirky rooms - each so different ` a great change from the normal standard hotel rooms of the world. Yes, their is no elevator and 3 flights of stairs involved, but they were no problem, the staff were always on hand to lug suitcases up and down. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating and there's a great street cafe restaurant just opposite the Mystic Place.
The down side is the location, as it is far out - many taxi drivers wouldn't take us from central shopping area Bangkok to Mystic Place and also arranging a day tour from there had issues due to location. But if you need accommodation for the weekend market - this is the place to stay. I will be back!

Room Tip: The Rice Room offered 2 single beds where most of the rooms had double beds. It's a great room...

Stayed here for 1 night (thank god) only recently while in Bangkok. I was so excited to come to this hotel and was extremely disappointed!
We had booked the Bird's Nest room but because we arrived early it wasn't available and were given the Natty Polly room. Now i like a bit of kitsch and a bit of quirky but this was just plain bad taste. There were Telly Tubbies, Mickey & Minnie Mouse, random plastic toys etc all over the place and it was totally tacky.
The floor was concrete and it was absolutely filthy. I kept my sandals on but my daughter took hers off and her feet were black in 10 minutes. The overall feel of the room was tatty and dusty and just felt unclean. There was a double bed and single bed but we both decided to stay in the double bed because the single bed looked so unappealing. The mosquito net around the bed was dusty!
Now i've no idea what the room that we were meant to have was like but we did see in next doors room and that didn't look any better either.
I was so disappointed with this hotel as i selected it due to it's themed rooms and it also seemed to have good reviews (a few bad i saw), maybe the backpackers seem to like it but it was terrible.
The hotel also claims to be next door to the JJ Market which it isn't, though it's not too far away and the hotel does have a free shuttle to get there and make your own way back.

We chose to stay in the Kok Sung Nern Mystic Suite. The room was up a few flights of stairs but that wasn't a problem for us. We especially liked the roof top terrace- we found it quite quirky that it was accessed through the shower! We were flying out of Bangkok the next day so the location suited us well- about a 15 minute walk to the Sukhumvit road. Also quite close to a skytrain stop.
