“The Place I Always Return To When Staying In Bangkok”
Reviewed 13 April 2013

I'm an American expat who now lives in Thailand and when first arriving in BKK and making plans to stay for long term, I lived here in this serviced hotel/apartment.
After moving to another province, I still return to this hotel every April for the annual Songkran (Water Festival/Thai New Year festival). Why? Although the location CAN be difficult for taxis to find, I personally think the hotel is quite decent. It's not too far from MRT stations and also not too far to the center of BKK including many of the sights to see in the City of Angels. It's also close to some of the big shopping centers that can also be found near the heart of the metropolis.
Personally, I always liked this place. It's on a very quiet street, the ac works very well, the hot water is always plentiful, and the rooms are usually quite clean (as they are cleaned virtually everyday unless puts the tag on the door saying otherwise).
There are also plenty of motorbike taxis that wait just outside the driveway if one needs a quick ride somewhere, and if one walks out the driveway, takes a right, and then the next right on the nearest road, there's a convenient 7 Eleven to buy snacks, drinks, and meals to bring back to your room.
* I don't necessarily suggest taking a taxi that is sitting outside the hotel though as these drivers may rip you off. If you need a taxi, just ask reception to call for one.
Also, if one were to walk out the driveway again, turn right and walk ALL the way down to the other end of the road, and there is an exchange booth for those who wish to exchange their currency.
The prices at this hotel are fairly reasonable too compared to say a bigger hotel located even closer to the city center.
There is also a small coffee shop on the ground floor and open from 7am to 10pm, and there is also room service that is available from 7am to 9:30pm both of which are offered every day.
Internet access however is not free and one must pay from a selection of prices in order to get an internet card depending on the length of time for their usage. For those staying long term and would like to have their clothes washed, there's a small laundromat located in the apartment complex behind the hotel. They will clean and dry everything for you for a small fee and usually have it ready by the next day neatly folded and packaged in a bag.
All in all, this hotel/serviced apartment was the place I called home for almost a year and the place to which I always flock to when going to the water festival of every April.

I traveled with my partner, we booked online through Agoda.com. The price is good but don't expect the service too much. The staff can't speak english clearly, the room is small and old decorations, but the linen is quite clean and the aircondition quite cold even in the afternoon. The house keeping should intend to check the room and did the Insect spray, a lot of ants here.

this is very cheap for a reason... unfortunately the room I stayed in was very humid no real air-con just a bad fan. The decor is old and grimy, just not very welcoming, it didn’t have the correct balance of colour space and light.

there where insects eggs sacks on the walls and in the wardrobe also spider webs; an unacceptable amount of ants in the bath.

I stayed only two nights and I only slept for a few hours, on each night. As I dreaded the thought of staying in such bad conditions. But I suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth.

Luckily I found another hotel just a few meters up the road called the The Tivoli Hotel which was top-quality.

Room Tip: Don't stay here... if you can, or only a few nights till you find something better.

This is a budget 'hotel' that is okay if you're only looking for a super cheap stay for 1 or 2 months in Bangkok, but...

Pros:
Facilities - there's a laundromat, 2 eateries & a cafeteria/mini convenience store on site.
Price - very cheap accommodation if you pay for a month in advance.
Location - not far from the business district & 2 MRT stations (Lumphini & Klong Toey). There's also a 7 Eleven right around the corner that is open 24 hrs.

Cons:
Room - the rooms are small, with a small bathroom. The older rooms are in SERIOUS need of a renovation! They also get quite hot if you don't leave the air-con on while you're out, & to do this you have to rent another key card because the room's electricity only works when your key card is inserted into a little slot behind the door. The shower curtain is useless at stopping water from flooding the floor & you end up using the bathmat to keep it at bay. Cupboard space is minimal, so is shelving. The air-con in my room was also pretty loud.
Location - the 'hotel' is very close to an area that is known for 'massage parlours' & places where foreigners go to pick up ladyboys &/or prostitutes. So you might not enjoy the neighbourhood, plus you see some 'interesting' people hanging around the hotel. I was 'propositioned' by another hotel guest one night & he was a bit persistent, which not only made me angry, but it creeped me out staying in the same place as him.
Facilities - the 'gym' is pretty much a joke & there is no pool. The food at the eateries isn't that great & some dishes are overpriced for what you get, even if it IS cheap food. Also, the 'restaurant' staff don't speak English, which often means you can't order room service by phone & you have to go down to the restaurant to order.
Cleanliness - the place feels like it needs a good clean & the hotel grounds are quite grubby.
Service - the rooms get 'serviced' twice a week, but often the staff don't clean very thoroughly. Also, this means locking away valuables on a regular basis, which can become annoying.

Room Tip: Ask for a 'new' room that is as far away from the elevators as possible, otherwise you'l...

Well, what can I say about this place.

The shower didn't work . . . Had to get it fixed THREE times. When it eventually did work, BARE wires were left visable . . . . It was a HUGE problem to get that fixed, I think they expected me to get electrocuted just to save them a job.

I was on the 7th floor . . . and the bathroom was infested with ants. When I reported this my answer was "Yes we know, its always been a problem"!

Only good thing was I was using this place as a base for my travels. It was only 7000bht for the month. Beds were comfortable and I was in a room with the new air conditioning system.

I wouldnt recommend the place - stayed in cheaper places on my travels - and better places.

Room Tip: To get a good room . . . Stay at a different hotel!

For a great deal in the heart of Bangkok, you really can't go past the Blooms. It's found close to the Sala Daeng BTS and the Lumpini MRT stations so you're never too far from public transport. There are also plenty of motorbike taxis and regular taxis around the area if you need them.

As for the rooms, they're pretty basic but you're paying a good price for them anyway. The smaller rooms are 550 Baht per night and there are specials if you stay for three nights in a row. Overall, the place is kind of old but the beds are adequate and the staff are friendly. The wifi internet is decent as well and doesn't drop out. Plus, there's a cheap laundromat and local Thai restaurant around the back of the hotel that makes your stay even more convenient.

I'd really recommend this place to anyone searching for a very affordable place to stay in the heart of Bangkok.

Room Tip: During peak season, you'll need to book in advance to secure a room.

If you are looking for a decent play to stay and enjoy a budget vacation, Blooms residence would be the ideal place for stay in Bangkok.

Location: Located in Sathorn Soi 1, very close to Rama IV free way and 10 minutes away from Silom which is ths hot tourist neighbourhood in Bangkok.

Room: Blooms have rooms of different prices with appropriate facilities. Offers attractive packages too !! 3 days and 4 nights at 1850 Thai Baht is really worth. New rooms with wooden floor and modern beds are appreciative. Washrooms can be little bigger.

Eat layouts: Blooms have a restaurant near reception, which is good for breakfast. Lots of multi cuisine restaurants located in walkable distance also.

Staff: Decent behaviored staff. Only drawback is the communication problem. Not many of the staffs talk good english and so will be a struggle.

Overall, it is a perfect place for a budget vacation in Bangkok. Give a try and you won't regret.

Room Tip: Try the new furnished rooms in 5th floor and above.
