“Great Business hotel”
Reviewed 27 February 2014 via mobile

I stay at the S31 4 times a year when visiting Bangkok
It is privately operated and has a welcome home feel rather than the usual chain hotels
The rooms are great I always choose the duplex suite which I book directly with the s31 as they often have free upgrade deals
Location really convenient for sukhumvit just a few blocks from the herat of things makes for a relaxed less frenzied environment
Hotel restaurant is average room service is good value but great restaurant's within 100 metres of hotel
Best foot massage in Thailand on adjacent corner 250 bht for 60 mins!
Everything you need for a business stay
Rated 4 not 5 as rooms will need refreshing soon and internet frustrating

Stayed February 2014, travelled on business

Stayed in this hotel as it was convenient, on the main road, in walking distance of a few good restaurants in the immediate locality. A 15 minute walk to Soi 23. The room was pleasant although a few issues such as simple temporary repairs to sink plumbing very slow drainage of wash basin and curtains do not draw easily as the rail is very high and has been damaged by over zealous dragsters. The view I had was great and interesting on the 20th floor. The Bed was very comfortable with many pillows type choice.

There was a large fridge a microwave and a sink with many cabinets. Safe was good and easy to operate. Bathroom is an open window type but easily cut off by a louvre blind located OUTSIDE the window and added to the warmth of the room so no damages there. Good sized bath and strong overhead shower also hand shower.

Could do with a carpet vacuum but due to political issues maybe short staffed. Other than the above no complaints. May need to watch maintenance issues as hotel ages. Overall clean fresh and bright with an interesting out door area and smallish pool.

So very much better than other hotels in similar price range in the general area. Very pleased with the choice. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms off Sukhumvit have a nicer more softer view and maybe less noisy although the latter isnt an i...

The duplex suite rooms are my favorite rooms of any hotel in Bangkok, and excellent value.

The location is not so good for catching the BTS and not close to Cowboy or Soi 11 (though Soi 22 bears checking out).

The IT director is a sadist, forcing you to sign back in regularly. I'm on the 18th floor. Who do they think is stealing their signal? Equally annoying, when watching TV, like a movie on HBO, regularly a message starts slowly sliding over the screen, saying "Welcome to our movie service, charges to your folio will start with expenses when you begin purchase," some crazy english like that. It keeps doing this for maybe five minutes, then stops. Meanwhile, it's just HBO. There is no charge, but it is hard to concentrate on the movie while you are waiting for the crazy message to disappear.

Room Tip: go for the duplex suite, it's great value, getting more for less, compared to any room Landmark...

Stayed here for one night to avoid the protests in the Asoke area. The hotel is an easy walk from the Phrom Phong BTS station. The lobby is on the 8th floor. Easy and quick check-in, as it seems quiet. I booked the 2-level Duplex, which was very nice. There was a sitting area and TV and 1/2 bathroom on the first level. Also included a kitchen, though was kinda useless, since there was only a microwave and large refrigerator.

The upper level has an extra large bed (larger than a King size) and a full bath. It was very comfortable, like an apartment. Overall, my stay was quite nice, though the breakfast was just okay.

So this hotel was a real surprise. Reviewing the price I did think that this wouldn't be as nice as it turned out to be.

As a member of the SLH group they are required to maintain a certain standard but hotels can really vary.

When I checked in I had reserved a room already but asked to see others that were available. I chose the Panorama room. It is what it sounds like with a huge wall of windows to see out over the city.

The hotel is a tad dated in design from the outside bit inside it has everything you may need.

Dotted all around the hotel are plug in aroma lamps that add to the Asian feel, giving out lemongrass aroma. I bought one myself and have just plugged it in at home and really love it.

It seemed to me that the coped really well with a small team. They could have done more to explain the facilities at check in but everything I asked of them was done with a smile and a friendly approach.

The hotel has its own spa high up in the hotel but there is also another smaller salon on the ground floor next to the café called Cherry Blossom. It is wonderful and again with really friendly and helpful staff. The prices are really low too!

I have a 30 minutes neck, back, shoulder and Indian oil head massage and a full manicure and pedicure (first time for me) for a total of 1200 BHT.

That's 3 people, Priom did the massage in a small and plush room in the salon then both Po and Pam did my manicure and pedicure at the same time. I sat near the windows in the salon and watched the world go by as they worked their magic.

We chatted and laughed for about 2 1/2 hours and all for the equivalent of £22.00!!!!!!!!

Fantastic.

The location is good too as it is right next to the Sky train and within 10 minutes of the upmarket shopping centres and good street food.

A winner all round.

the only disappointment was the breakfast. While the variety was good and the quality high the service was very poor!!! Take notice please S31 this is the only thing letting you down and really easy to improve.

Room Tip: This hotel is a member of SLH (Small Luxury Hotels of the World). Membership to their 'The Club...

We booked for one night to get into the city for dinner and go shopping the next day. The location is pretty ideal, nearby the BTS, Emporium, and Benjasiri park, which makes it very easy to get to.

We had a duplex corner suite, which had a great view over parts of the city. The room is quite large, with the bedroom loft and bathroom upstairs, and living area on the lower level. If I were to stay again I think I'd actually get a smaller room, it felt like too much space! There were a few stains and marks on the floor around the bed and kitchen which were unappealing.

The bed was comfortable and huge... quite literally, you could fit four people on comfortably (perhaps the point?) and we had a great nights sleep. The bathroom is nice, had a bath, and there's both a toilet upstairs and downstairs.

Breakfast choice was nice and not too chaotic, the wait and kitchen staff very friendly. The reception staff were cordial but not overly friendly, but we did arrive late at night.

Overall this was a nice place to stay, and not too expensive considering the size of the room and facilities.

Room Tip: Duplex corner suite is great if you love lots of space, but I think a standard duplex would have bee...

My boyfriend and I decided to splash out for our first night in Thailand so we booked one of the panorama suites. It was definitely worth the money, quiet with amazing views and a huge and very comfy bed. Just what we needed after 28 hours of travelling! Not hard to reach from the airport either, just take the airport rail line to Phaya Thai and then get the sky train to Phrom Phong. The breakfast was decent, although a member of the breakfast staff was rude to us - this is why I am giving 4 rather than 5 stars. That said, the rest of the staff were excellent so maybe he was just having a bad day! We were getting a night train the following evening and they let us leave our luggage at the hotel, and use the showers before we left the following evening which was appreciated after a hot day sightseeing in Bangkok. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you're looking to treat yourself without totally breaking the bank, and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Pay the little bit extra for the panoramic view, it's worth the money especially when you think...
