I just recently stayed at the Bless Residence from Nov 4 - Nov 15, 2013. What an excellent hotel. I usually stay at Grand President on Soi 11 but recently their maintenance, housekeeping, and customer sevice had gone downhill. I wanted a similar type hotel but with better service and Bless Residence fit that bill. It is located in a small one lane sub soi off of Sukhumvit Soi 33. It is less than 10 minutes walk from the Phrom Phong elevated train station. There is a Villa 24 hour supermarket and a 7 Eleven only 5 minutes away.
Upon arrival the entire staff was very welcoming and each time I came and went the staff looked genuinely happy to see me. The Deluxe room was large and came with a living room with sofa and chair, seperate bedroom with working desk, small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave, and 2 seat dining table. The room was immaculate clean and came with hardwood floors. The bathroom was decorated in black marble and came with both a rain shower and bathtub. The bathroom also contained the closet with in room safe, 2 bathrobes, slippers, and hairdryer. There is no in-house washer and dryer to use. I used the dry cleaning service which was not cheap but also not that expensive. The room does not come with an iron and iron board but you can request it and they will bring it to you. Just a special mention about an employee named Joy in housekeeping. Besides keeping my room super clean seeing her big smile and sawadee ka everyday just made my whole day brighter.
At check in I was given a passcode for the Wi-Fi and I had no problems whatsoever. Unfortunately I was never able to try the food in the restaurant. Besides waking up too late for breakfast everyday there was just too much good and cheap streetfood. The fried chicken sold in the street was excellent and only 20 baht each. The hotel pool is located on the 8th floor roof along with the exercise room. The pool is good for a cool dip but not so much for swimming since it only comes up to chest level. The hotel seems more suited for business people or couples but I saw more than a few families with small children. The hotel is guest friendly and any unregistered guests have to leave their IDs at the front desk. The hotel itself is very quiet and you get a very good sense of the rule: No parties and don't get loud in your room.
Now for some negatives. In between the bedroom and the bathroom there is a small block step you have to walk over. I guess this is in case the bathroom floods then it won't ruin the hardwood floor. Only thing is that if you forget then you will end up stubbing your toes. Also since the bathroom has marble flooring it can get very slippery when wet. The bedroom and living room have their own thermostats and it is very easy to keep the room cool. In between the bedroom and living room though there is a small room that contains the actual air conditioning unit. During the day there is no problem but at night the unit can be loud. The first night I thought that this might be a problem but the second night I must have got used to it because I slept soundly every night afterwards. There are two sides to the hotel, the front and the back. The back where I was at there is a construction site right across from Emporium Center about 320 meters or 350 yards away. There is some construction noise during the day but it usually stops after 6 or 7 at night. In the front of the hotel next door there is a nightclub called Mojos. It is an excellent club with great food, drinks, and a nightly live band. Although the music is muffled you can hear it from outside when walking back late to the hotel. I don't know if the front of the hotel is soundproof but if given a room on that side it might be a good idea to bring earplugs. The area of the hotel is not that bad. Walking from Sukhumvit road there are some bars and restaurants. Walking on Soi 33 you make a right towards the hotel. If you were to go straight up Soi 33 then that is where the seedy bars and massage parlors are. If you are not into that then just avoid walking straight up.
On the whole I very much enjoyed my stay. The room was very clean and I slept very well which is all I ask for in a hotel. I will probably be returning to visit Bangkok in one year and will definitely stay at Bless Residence.
