We just spent three nights at the St. Regis in Bangkok, and while we'd give high marks to the hotel's location and easy link to the BTS, our stay was overshadowed by the presence of a FIFA hospitality office set up on our floor. The hotel permitted FIFA to rent out three or so adjacent hotel rooms where FIFA rolled out massive signage plus large soft drink vending machines that were visible as soon as you stepped out of the elevator. These rooms were always kept with the doors wide open so FIFA employees, also staying at the St. Regis, could swing by for drinks or, even worse, food. FIFA must have ordered trays and trays of pungent fried foods that continuously gave the floor the smell of a food stall. We were really surprised a five-star hotel would permit their rooms to be occupied in such a manner on the same floor that they have other hotel guests. I can imagine this would be fine if all FIFA guests occupied the same floor, but no, FIFA employees seemed to be staying on higher floors, just coming to ours for snacks and hydration. We spoke to the hotel staff and they're only response was to put an air purifier by the elevator. They couldn't even get FIFA to close the doors to the hospitality rooms so we had to look at the garish vending machines and signage during our entire stay.

The room was fine, if not bland, and the overall hotel lobby and bar area seemed to miss securing and charm or unique feel.

We are frequent travelers to Bangkok and even lived there for two years, so our recommendation would be to stay at the Four Seasons, Peninsula, Sukhothai or one of the city's other truly five star hotels.

The best thing about this place is the location. Rooms are ok as is the service. I don't like the butler system. I'd rather have a coffee maker. I did like having my clothes pressed at no charge
But why do they insist in charging for Internet ! It is like charging for toilet paper and the service is slow.
I did not like returning to the room and after 2:30 in the afternoon and not having the room ready. So I had to wait in the lounge and wait and be overcharged for a glass of tonic water.
The saving grace was the beautiful music privided by the piano player. But why are noisy kids allowed in the bar! Four Seasons could teach this place a few things
Central World shopping center is very close and has everything you need.
I would not recommend this place to my friends.

The staff of the hotel was extremely helpful, Bangkok being the city it is, the staff managed our transportation needs and coordinated our appointments as needed. The hotel's direct access to the Sky Train Station is very convienant. Try to get a room over looking the jockey club if possible, I have stayed twice but have not been able to get the desired view. The transportation book by the hotel to and from the airport is worth it, especially if arriving late, but the express train from the airport is manageable if traveling light, transfer between lines are required. Also, the health club is very good, with a view of near by park. The breakfast in their main restaurant is the best way to start your day, with views of the golf course.

The room design is very cozy and the bed is so comfortable. Breakfast is very healthy, view is great in breakfast room and staff are very helpful. Afternoon tea is very relaxing and very British esp. during Winbledon season. Spa and Gym are also great.

This is a very high class hotel in the high class part of town. The breakfast is fantastic, the pool is cool and the rooms are first class and modern. The reception did it's best, but on our return after a 2 day absense, could not have our room ready until 3pm, which was the time of the wedding! They did give us access to the spa area so we could shower and get ready, not the same but a good compromise.

Room tip: If you want a more authentic stay and aren't worried about luxury you could stay somewhere not in the high class part of town.
