“So Dirty”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. We were so horrified when we got here. It is so hard to find since it is tuck away in a dark alley. When we finally reached the hotel, the lobby was dark and looked haunted. So when we finally checked in, the receptionist (an old guy) was so rude. He has zero customer service. He gave us our key and never even bothered to ask a bell boy to take us to the room. When we reach the floor that we were staying at, the hallway was so small. There was a cleaning cart abandoned in the hallway. The carpet had seen better day. Everything looks so dirty. It was more horrifying when we reached our room. It was very very ancient. Everything was old. The TV, the bathroom has rust, the shower curtain was disgusting! I had doubts that the bed linens were even clean. We only stayed 1 night, we just had to book another place. Be warned! The pictures shown in the website are deceiving! Just horrible!

For the price, this is a great deal near Chatuchak Market. It is nothing special, but most cheap places we stayed had major issues. The are none hear at all. Hot water showers, A/C, great communication and management (though a few employees were a bit cold but that can be normal in this price range). Stayed here a second time for ease of comfort and price.

Nice Palace is, in all senses of the word, a very average location. It's fine, and there's nothing extremely wrong with it. It's outdated and not particularly comfortable, but it's cheap so that about equals out. If you're looking at staying in Saphan Kwai, and want a cheap option, Nice Palace is fine, however if you're looking for more a nice hospitality experience there are other options in the neighborhood.

My husband and I were a bit wary of booking this place after reading the bad reviews on TA about it, but we were busing into Bangkok from Sukhothai very late at night and needed a hotel close to the bus station to crash. This was the only thing we could find at short notice so we booked it anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. Easy Tuk Tuk ride to get there (though a taxi may have been cheaper and faster as it could have gone on the highway), staff were lovely when checking us in, our bags were brought up to our room for us. Hotel has been re-vamped a bit, seemed fine, wifi is now FREE in your room - you do not have to pay for it anymore. Our room was spacious and clean, shower was great, room had a fridge, included free bottled water. Was perfect for what we needed it for - a quick stop over before continuing on our way. One tip would be to bring your eye mask because the curtains are quite thin so the rooms aren't that dark. But for such a low price for a Bangkok hotel, it was a great choice.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for one night in October. It is cheap and you get what you pay for the hotel is outdated and old. You have to pay for Wifi and room is small and air con very noisy with a pretty funky smell from bathroom. We asked to book a taxi for an early morning flight at reception and they said fine. We got down in the early hours to find the taxi was in fact someone from the hotel and surprise surprise the cost happened to be the same as our deposit of 400 baht ie they just didnt give back our deposit which was "already given to taxi driver". We were not impressed at all given that it should have been less than half that price but given the sleepyness we let it slide and left feeling silly for being conned.

We spent one night in this hotel and it is ok for what you pay. The rooms are dated and the bathroom left much to be desired, the water pressure was somewhat hit and miss, although it was at least hot. The towels were clean but no toiletries were supplied. The aircon.....the less said about it the better, it worked but it was very very noisy. TV was old and trying to get a decent channel hard. The bed itself was fine, covers etc were clean and pillows were soft. Finally the lift is very small, old and a bit creepy, so we took the stairs.

One very good plus point is the restaurant. The food they serve is absolutely on level with some of the high end hotels we have stayed at for local cuisine. Plus in the evening we ordered some western food by room service and were pleasantly surprised by its quality considering the low prices.

The wifi you have to pay for which is something we are not used to doing in many places in bangkok now, but when you pay a low price for a room you can not expect everything you would get in a more upmarket place. The hotel seems popular with chinese tourists and check out is a bit of a lengthy wait with certain members of staff that need a course in manners perhaps.

Otherwise, it is great for the price if its just for an evening or 2.
