Aloft is a great place if you're meaning to save a few dollars--it's part of the SPG chain so you get your giant international hotel treatment which means most everything has been thought out to be efficient, friendly and easy. That said, a lot of Thai charm is lost because most everything is hustle and bustle--but at least you're paying a friendly price for top notch beds and airconditioning, an excellent breakfast, free wifi, a great pool, quiet bedrooms and great bathrooms.

That said, the charm and wow factor of more expensive hotels, especially in Bangkok are mostly gone here. Public spaces are friendly yet very plebeian. The lobby is not enticing to stay in, but at least the people around are friendly. The open store has odd prices--way too expensive considering there are three 7-11's that stock the same drinks for a quarter of the price. The pool is not very big but at least it's got great sun, and the gym is almost tiny but at least machines and weights are topnotch.

Bedrooms are rather plain, with simpler layouts and stain resistant striped carpenting ala Paul Smith. Bathrooms are showers, no tubs, with utilitarian shower gel and shampoo/conditioner combos that spell and smell efficient more than expensive. But then what do you expect--the value is excellent in Aloft.

That said, it's probably best for the young party goer since the famed Bed Supper Club is right across amidst many other bars, lounges and clubs. It's a fun and crazy neighborhood that sprouts vans that turn into bars on the street, excellent street food, touts and offers at massage everywhere--but that's the noise and charm of Soi 11.

Overall, a great choice if backpacking and need a bit of airconditioned big hotel chain splendor.

Room tip: The higher the floor, the less vibration on the windows to keep you awake.

Hello JuliaVanderbilt,

Thank you very much for a meaningful review for us. Under Starwood Hotels & Resorts chain, you won't be regret with our quality service in which meets Starwood standard. Yet, we still have a lingering smell of Thai culture in the service as well, such as serve with a BIG smile, friendly and helpful kind of characteristics. The open store that you meant might be our "re:fuel grab 'n' go gourmet cafe". We believe that our price is not expensive comparing to other popular coffee shops. And as this is in the hotel, it is even more convenient for guests who want a real quick food and do not want to go outside the hotel. So, we hope this is just one good selection apart from 7-11.

Also, our guestroom equipped with most of the things one will need in this style at a steal kind of hotel. So, hope you had a pleasant stay with us.

Look forward to seeing you again at Aloft Bangkok.

Best Regards,

We stayed in this hotel as it was the official hotel for Sensation dance party Thailand and we bought a ticket and hotel package. We checked it out and extended our stay for the whole time we were there.

For the prices $70AUD a night we all could have our own room easily. Rooms as well appointed and all 4 of us were put on the same floor. Especially nice touch was the POD coffee machine, iphone dock and connectors on the wall for video and audio.

The hotel design is great, fluro lights, pumping dance music in the foyer, we loved it.

Location is amazing, across the road and round the corner from 2 of the best clubs (and they give you free entry vouchers.

Definitely geared towards Gen Y, I wouldn't recommend it to my mum. But I cannot speak highly enough about it. Breakfast was awesome and worth it.

We are now looking at what other Aloft hotels we can stay at around the world (the list was on the back of the elevator doors).

Room tip: We picked high floor and facing the city (Urban room)

in the middle of sukumvit soi-11 only minutes away from NANA BTS station....AKA Excellent location. very conveniently located for bars and clubs and not to mention my favourite bangkok street food stalls. stayed there for 8 nights and the service and the feel was amazing. stuffs are friendly and very helping. colourful rooms and lobby makes it feel like a club but not as noisy and crowded. very clean and has a five star feel about it. the pool area was beautiful and the glass on the edges makes it look grand but a bit small for my taste. the hotel looks more like a new-York nightclub at night and the light shades are just amazing. loved the crave restaurant and the view from there was just outstanding. I must say the best hotel in soi 11, excellent value for money at only $80 a night, superb location. can't wait till my next visit to Bangkok as I will choose this amazing hotel again!!!!

We arrived early in the evening and were greeted warmly by the front reception staff. This area was simple, open and spacious with bright minimalistic lounges placed near large flat screen TVs for waiting guests and friends. The modern minimalistic designs infiltrated into the hotel reminded me of my former university accommodation with the industrial style exposed ductwork in the ceiling space – although this place was way way way nicer and much more hip!!

I had requested a room on a high floor and the view was great overlooking the city and streets. Our room was a standard room – it was very stylish and modern – high ceilings, symmetrically designed furniture, spacious bathroom with lots of natural light, a large shower [no bath], strategically placed mirrors, environmentally friendly shampoo and bath wash dispensers, hair dryer, coffee pods and tea bags. The king bed centred the room with adequate space around it for movement and storage of luggage. And huge pillows provided a comfortable nights rest as did the blackout curtains. The AC was a tad noisy - sometimes it could be heard coming off and on during the night as it maintained the room’s temperature.

The 24/7 ‘fast food’ style outlet – re:fuel - on the ground floor provided those delicious little gourmet snacks and drinks [wine too] that one needs when still suffering jet lag with meal times that are still in a different time zone. The Crave restaurant on the 8th floor has a fabulous selection of fresh quality food, plus on the first floor or loft area there is the w xyz bar with not-really-too-noisy hip & happening music. We took a swim up in the almost infinity splash pool on the 10th floor [closes very late at night] and ordered some small meals and wines that were served very fast – nice way to spend a late evening relaxing before hitting the pillow.

One of the best things about this hotel apart from the service is the location – complementary tuk tuk to the nearest BTS SkyTrain station [Nana] – although you can easily walk there in about 5 minutes. The BTS provides you with all the transport you need to get to most of the good shopping centres & attractions – heading from Nana you can go to the Siam Paragon shopping [3 stops]- the Siam Paragon Gourmet Shopping on the ground floor is amazing – and if you head in the other direction from Nana, you can go to the uniquely different Terminal 21 shopping mall [next stop]. The BTS cost you next to nothing for a very comfortable quick and scenic ride.

You really do not need a taxi, although they are a cheap mode of transport – as they will always try to take you to their sponsors shop regardless of where you really want to go. The traffic is a nightmare – gridlocked during peak hours with the buzzing swarm of motorbikes overtaking in precarious situations. Heart stopping! And if you do hire one for the whole day, make sure that you agree where he is going to take you... they will always have a diversion. Everything you read about taxis in Bangkok is true!

Across the road from the Aloft are a number of superb nightclubs and bars – although the mobile kombi-van bars look more appealing. We walked to a wonderful Spa – Raintree Spa – just down the road; and we used the laundry across the road to wash our clothes at about 1/3 of the hotel prices. There are also many good restaurants very close.

The other good deal with the Aloft is the free wifi – in your room and all throughout the hotel – good and fast. They advertised an upgrade to a touch room that is fitted with smartphone technology [called Fingi]. This device controlled all the room functions as well as being used as your own personal mobile while out and about in Bangkok. Sounds cool, but we didn’t indulge.

Overall, this is a really good 4 star hotel – it represents very good value and service in a very convenient location.

Room tip: A hIgh floor gives you a better view over the city - not that you would spend much time in your room!

I like this place, it's reasonable, service is good, prices are good and they don't gouge you on Internet. The location is right across from Bed Supperclub so you can have a fun night out and go just across the street. it's clean and the design is nice but not over the top. The location is about 8 minute walk from Nana BTS station.
