Lovely hotel.

Spotlessly clean rooms, free wifi in reception, very helpful staff.

A little of the beaten track, but only a 15 / 20 minute walk to Ko San Rd - which is a very good thing, you get all the benefits of being close to the nightlife without being kept awake by it!

Reception very helpfully provide directions in Thai from Ko San Rd to the hotel - take them with you - saves the hassle of trying to get home later.

Very close to the Standing buddah.

Small restaurant but it seemed to have a good selection of food, we only sampled breakfast and as we were terribly hungover we barly managed to eat toast!

There is free internet in the reception area - this closes at 10pm though.

Hotel as an onsite laundry service, however, if you walk round the corner you will find the same service for about half the price.

AC = fantastic - and didn't work out that much dearer.

Would definately reccommend

Room Tip: Go for AC room, lifts are small and hot so go for a low room - security is really good so no need to worry

Very clean, comfortable hotel with security and a lovely pool. On a funky side street (print the directions in Thai from the web site for the taxi driver because no one knows where it is) one block from Standing Buddha and a 15 minute walk to Khao San Street. A short walk to Chao Phraya Express (boat taxi - less than 10 minute ride to Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha; a few more stops to China Town).
Very pleasant staff. Breakfast not included but they do offer breakfast for a fee. WiFi was a little spotty but free.
The pool is beautiful and a welcome cooling off point. It is primarily shaded and so was cool even in the hot season. A great way to cool off after a long, hot day of being tourists!

If you prefer to stay in an authentic Thai area of Bangkok, the U-Place is definitely the place to be! The hotel is very new and perfectly located like a 20-minute walk from Kao San Road. Even though you are near where everything happens, there are hardly any tourists around in this area and the hotel is a very quiet, no noise at night so we had a great sleep.

The hotel staff was super friendly and they help out the best they can, especially if you need a taxi etc., just outstanding! When you check in, they hand you over some advice on how to get by as a tourist in Bangkok (dos and don'ts) which was extremely helpful!

All in all, the U-Place is a great hotel perfectly located in a quiet Thai area with awesome staff. We will definitely stay at the U-Place again if we ever go back to Bangkok.

We (family with two small children) stayed at U-Place (1 bedroom apartment) for three weeks - the monthly rates offered were great value for us. The hotel feels like a sparkling spaceship in a very Thai, lower middle class neighborhood.

What we liked:
* Super clean; tastefully furnished
* The 1-bedroom apartments are really family friendly: separate room so the kids can sleep, air condition in both rooms; fridge, microwave, kettle
* Very friendly, cheerful staff. Very helpful!
* Nice, shady, clean, cool pool - long enough for laps even
* Only short tuk tuk rides to many traditional sights and Khaosan Road - at the same time its location make it not at all feel like part of the traveler circus

Things to consider:
* Not a hotel to hang out and meet other travelers: no bar or restaurant = people come here for the night mainly
* While very basic breakfast options and a small shop exist, we found ourselves eating out all the time ... we loved Ricky's on Th. Samsen Soi 2 for breakfast, and a little family-run place just around the corner on Th. Wisutkasat for cheap and spicy dinner
* Obviously not convenient if you are planning to spend most of your time on the Sukhumvit / Silom side of town

All in all, a real recommendation, especially if you are staying for 2 weeks or longer so the monthly rate makes sense

We stayed in U-Place, Bangkok for 6 nights in January 2012. We booked the hotel on the back of some good reviews and because of the location which is set around 10 minutes walk from Khaosan Road. This means you get a good nights sleep but your not far from the mayhem that Bangkok has to offer. The hotel itself is a mixture of hotel rooms and serviced apartments. The room was very bright and spacious with a nice big bed, flatscreen tv, fridge, aircon ect..... The room was also fitted with modern furnishing and a tiled floor with a great view of a nearby temple from our window. There is free Wi-fi in public areas but also the option of an ethanet connection to your laptop in the room. Just ask at reception for a cable. The hotel pool is very nice and surrounded by exotic plants and trees, i think 5-6 sun loungers were available.

You have to let reception know if you would like your room cleaning or fresh towels so make sure you remember this.

I would recommend the hotel to anyone planning a short trip to Bangkok.
