I stayed here the week after a trip to the Intercontinental in Okinawa. In every respect the staff, room, accommodation, restaurant and overall quality were superior. I would not hesitate to recommended this hotel and visit it again myself. A very short but enjoyable stay in this hotel.

Nice middle size hotel situated in the heart of Bangkok. Just a step away from BTS. a sure way to beat the crawl during office hour. Room is clean, neat design. Breakfast come with the stay, for me the spread it average, nothing stand out. Friendly staffs and ease check in and out. If you on a business trip, I will recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Stay on the 20th floor not facing BTS. no noise issue.

Me and my partner stayed here in an executive room on 18th April '14 for 3 nights.
Originally we booked to stay at the Park Plaza right by Asoke BTS but due to recent protests chose to move.

First impressions of the Novotel were very good, we were greeted by friendly bellboys and front desk staff and immediately taken to the executive lounge by lift (29th floor) for a swift check-in accompanied by one of the excellent front desk staff. Within another 10 mins we were in our room.

The room itself (27th floor) was very nice. Modern, spacious, clean, and contained everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable, and sleep quality was very good. Never used the minibar since there are many 7/11 supermarkets around the area for much much cheaper prices. Shower very good pressure and water hot all the time. Free wi-fi (technically not free since this came with the executive room rate) for two people (number of guests).
We arrived early evening but after almost 24 hours travelling we were ready for an early night.

Risen the next morning early for a trip to the Grand Palace, so we ventured up to the executive lounge for breakfast. We were the first ones in just after 6am, so (only) one member of staff was just putting food out. First impressions weren't brilliant since there were a few things missing. But the next morning at a later time of 8.30am the choice was much better (bacon, eggs, cereals, pastries, smoothies, yoghurts, even curry). You could order fresh omelette's or a different style of egg than scrambled (the only option available to serve yourself) but we didn't make use of this as there was plenty of choice already available. If you're into scenic backgrounds it is worth booking the executive rooms purely for the breakfast scene - much more relaxed, smaller room, and the option to sit outside overlooking Bangkok from the 29th floor is very impressive.

Upon venturing out from the hotel, location wise you are in the perfect place staying here. The Ploenchit BTS stop is right outside the front door and is easier and much more impressive than the Tube in London, with it's aircon (welcome in an unbelievably humid 38 celsius heat), friendly Bangkokians and spaciousness. The BTS stop is only one stop from the lively Nana Plaza, and two stops from Asoke BTS which is connected by skywalk to the excellent Terminal 21 shopping centre. Both Nana & Asoke areas are around 10 minutes walking distance.

In terms of the pool at this hotel, I would say this is the only thing that lets it down. Due to the way the pool is positioned on the one side of the hotel, you do not see much sun when lounging around, which was a little bit disappointing if you just wanted to chill out for a couple of hours after wandering around Bangkok sight seeing or shopping.

Overall, this hotel is the perfect base for first time Bangkok visitors. We will definitely be back next year but maybe try a different hotel with a better pool scene. Having said that, if this doesn't matter to you, and you just want somewhere luxurious but at a good price, with friendly staff, in an excellent location, this is the place to go.

So tips from me:
-For anyone looking for a local sim card to avoid the unbelievably high UK mobile roaming prices, venture out to Terminal 21, there are a range of mobile phone stores where you can purchase a local SIM card, and the staff in the stores can set it up for you so you can use data for the internet, social networking, or maps/directions (like me).
-Pay the extra for the Premier Executive rooms purely for the better breakfast scene (views from the top of the hotel).
-Prebook a table at the Above Eleven skybar (at the top of the Fraser Suites) on Sukhumvit 11 (5 minute walk from Nana BTS) for fantastics views of Bangkok at night (as well as excellent Peruvian/Japanese food at a fair price).
-Have a look at Cabbages & Condoms restaurant for some Thai food. A bit different to your normal restaurant but a good experience non the less, and deliscious food.
