We stayed a Sivatel for our second time in late April 2014.

Once again this place represents true value for money. The concierge and staff in the Porch restaurant are great and very service orientated. Only criticism would be that the service around the pool side is a bit slow and could be improved.

Great location close to BTS sky train Ploen Chit station.

We will be back for sure.

Sivatel offers an incredible confort/price ration. You get tons of luxury for your money, starting with the size of the rooms. Ours was huge with a Jacuzzi bath giving on the city (yes windowed bathroom, including the toilet!!!
The staff was very friendly and managed our reservation request for restaurants outside the hotel. as well as good advice on transportation and locations for going out.
There is currently a building site in front of the Hotel, in particular in front of the pool, but it's not that disturbing actually: you are in a city and not on a jungle retreat.
The breakfast was very good offering a few tables outside by the poolside, and others in the room, airconditionned. The breakfast room wasn't too big so it made it quite cosy. This gave us a good feeling that this hotel wasn't just an "executive" hotel.
The hotel is located only a couple of hundred meters from the "sky train" that can transport you to main modern business center and shops. However this train, nor any other for that matter will bring you to China town or to Wat Pho and Grand Palace. Take either a Taxi or a Tuk Tuk. Count for either between 100 and 200 Baht (on the Taxi the meter counts, and do insist it does so, don't bargain, it ends up more expensive.) The Taxi could actually end up cheaper and, depending on the heat outside, be more confortable, plenty of time to take Tuk tuks once in town for shorter travel.
Allow 30 to 45 mins in traffic from hotel to the Temples and Palace. This depending on traffic, the traffic is more difficult on Mondays and Fridays.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are high up, try to be above 17th floor if possible, but all will allow a nice vie...

Despite what they say on their website, this is far from a 5 star hotel.

First up the staff are great, no taking away from that.No problems there.

The hotel build quality is shocking, comical even, everything is like a home DIY job. The finish is so poor, bad tiling, lumpy plastering, cheap carpet, gaps in doors. Sure it might not change the quality of your stay but a cheap finish does not belong in a 5 star hotel.

In our room the toilet wouldn't flush when we arrived and we also had no hot water, in fairness though both were fixed pretty quick.

The food was poor at breakfast and by the pool. More 3 star quality.

Positives are how close it was to the BTS, the swimming pool and the staff. Coffee machine and pods in the room were great!

This hotel is cheaper for the simple reason it is not a five star. They have cut corners on the finish and service and this is in fairness reflected in the price.

Room Tip: The two bed corner suites off some great views of the city.

My husband and I were very happy for staying there for 2 nights. The location is convenient, very close to the BTS station. The room is nice and comfortable, also it’s good that we can have internet on TV. All the staffs are very pleasant and helpful. Only two things that want to get improved :

1) Breakfast

- The variety of food is OK, but most of the hot dishes are too creamy and too heavy for me. For an example, the pork and vegetables, they are cooked with cream sauce, which is too heavy in the breakfast. I think that if the vegetable is stir-fried with garlic instead of creamy sauce, it would be much better. It’s too much western cooking-styled food in the breakfast, which I think those cooking dishes should be more suitable for lunch or dinner time.

- Also, I assumed that I could have some Thai food (e.g. Pad Thai, noodles with fish balls in soup etc ...) in the breakfast, but it didn’t, that made me a little bit disappointed.

2) Shower sprinkler

- The shower sprinkler in the bathtub is not strong enough.

We had a very good experience at Sivatel. Very large and comfortable rooms with great view, very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice pool area and gym.
The only 2 comments:
1. Location - nothing near by, except for the sky train station.
2. Restaurant failed to provide us gluten free bread for breakfast. We never had trouble with that in 5 star hotels
