“Great value, trendy hotel in a good location”
Reviewed 10 April 2013

I booked into the Ramada Encore for two nights after hostelling it round the islands for a few weeks. I absolutely loved my stay here, the room was amazing with a huge bed and a massive TV. The rain shower was amazing, so much so I used it far more than I should have done for two nights.

The rooftop pool is a great way to relax and catch some rays. The drinks are a little pricey but it is as you would expect from a chain hotel. The decor was modern and exactly to my taste, so if you are looking for somewhere trendy to stay then this is it.

Some of the previous reviews complained about the location. In a city this size you will always be a distance from where ever you want to get to. I personally thought the location was great. Close to the Sky Train and Metro, shopping centres and places to eat. Yes it is down a little side street but this means it is quiet. The 50m to the main Sukhumvit road would only prove an issue if you are very out of shape.

Overally I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a trendy place to stay, without paying through the nose for it.

Here i adjust my precedent review to bring it to 5 stars.
Staff was great and made things very easy until the last minute of the departure. After check in we were able to stay another 2 hours by the swimming pool on the rooftop instead of staying bored in the lobby.
The hotel itself looks great with a beautiful modern design, I was impressed.
And the internet was much much better than in other hotels or resorts I stayed in Thailand. Relatively fast, a good connection, FREE, no crazy login/password to re-enter 4 times a day!

Also the location is central with the Skytrain just 5 minutes away, perfect !

Had no issues with this place other than the distance from the main road. Staff very friendly and helpful. Modern and clean rooms. Not a massive room though, but definitely good enough for a solo traveller or if u've got company. Roof top pool and restaurant is amazing at nights...

The Ramada Encore is situated just off the Sukhumvit Road in a side street. It's close to many shopping centres, the Sky Train and the Underground. The hotel itself is modern and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby but the hotel restaurants (2) serve beautiful Thai and Western meals at low cost - a buffet breakfast of high quality costs A$8 - dinner is around A$10-15 (Australian equivalent would be $40-45). The staff are well trained, helpful and very friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and the air conditioning is very efficient (a necessity in Bangkok). There's a fitness pool on the top level near one of the restaurants. I'm returning to Bangkok in December and will stay there again.

Room Tip: The higher level rooms are better as there is no view from the lower levels. I stayed on the 5th flo...

We arrived late around 2am and as our taxi pulled up they were already there to take our bags and seemed to be expecting us. Although when we went to check in they informed us they only had smoking king rooms, no non-smoking king rooms as we had reserved. They explained that these reservations were only "requests". This just wasn't going to cut it for us as we had just flew 19 hours. They told us we could have a non smoking king with a balcony if we paid for the upgrade.... After we refused, they eventually gave us the upgrade for free.

The hotel is modern-ish. Nice A/C and showers. We didn't eat the breakfast ever but did have drinks at both the hotel bar and pool bar. They were OVERLY sweet and I am not sure if they contained any liquor. Something to note that we were not expecting when arriving in bangkok is the price of liquor. It is all import so paying $5-$7 for a cocktail is not uncommon.

We asked the front desk where we could buy a bottle of liquor for our room and they seemed totally confused. I guess it's pretty uncommon to buy personal liquor. They told us to take a taxi to "King Powers" but sort of snickered about it, which we thought was odd. After a 30 minute taxi ride we found out that King Powers is a duty free place and you cannot take the liquor with you, they deliver it to you at the airport. VERY frustrating as we specifically asked for liquor to take to our room. I found it rude and unhelpful. We wasted about 2 hours of our day for that.

The location is okay. Yes, it is located right on the busy road, close to soi cowboy and redlight district. That being said we found that it seemed to be more of a business district with not much going on during the day. The nightlife was all white men with thai hookers. It was pretty disappointing. It was not close to any of the city attractions. We were disappointed.

Good atmosphere as well, a good vibe here.
A driver picked us at the airport, very convenient
Great value for money!
Can't wait to go shopping and explore the city this afternoon
