“Pretty does not equal functional”
Reviewed 21 September 2011

The Hansar is a relatively new hotel. It opened about 7 months ago. Located on a side street off the main street, it is conveniently located to the sky train as well as many shopping malls.
The staff is excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help but unfortunately don't make up for the quality of the room.
Our room was quite spacious with a nice sitting area, 2 televisions, a mini fridge with free(!!) beer, drinks and snacks and a well stocked desk but there was way too much glass going on and bumping into pieces of furniture added bruises to my shins and knees and almost my forehead! Although I can be somewhat of a klutz, another member of our group in a different room did walk into the glass wall in their bathroom.
The bed is super comfortable although on a platform that had edges that were not friendly to my shins. The bathroom had walls of glass. Although there was a sliding door leading to the bathroom the shower and toilet were encased with glass walls. Not frosted, but clear glass. Not great for privacy due to the sheerness. The first 2 nights I walked into the bathroom I almost walked straight into the glass wall.
The shower is really slippery. I had to place a towel on the ground so I wouldn't fall and I also had to use a towel to sop up the water that had leaked underneath the glass separating the toilet and shower.
The hallways are not air conditioned. You go from a cool room and wilt in the hot and humid hallway waiting for the elevator where the walkway is made of concrete that is stained and looks dirty.
Overall this was a pretty hotel with a great staff but I couldn't help wondering if this was rated so highly what the other hotels in Bangkok would've been like.

Stayed in many hotels in Bangkok as I travel to Bangkok at least 4 times a year. By far, this hotel is the best among all the big brands. Location is good as it is walking distance to all major shopping centers (5mins walk) and it is 2mins walk to the MRT. The service you get in this hotel is extraordinary. The room is very spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is very big and modern looking. The gym is very well equipped and spacious. Complimentary mini bar is a big plus point. Only 1 small complain - Breakfast food selection is slightly below average as i find that there are not many choices. Looking forward to go back there again.

We decided to splash out on the first night of our visit to Bangkok this year - and settled on Hansar due to the very positive Trip Advisor reviews. Hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed in: we were upgraded two room grades and were given one of the high-end suites with a free-standing bath in the centre of the bathroom!

We're not typical frequenters of 5* hotels, but I'm sure for those who are more churlish the variable quality of English spoken by staff might be a slight issue. My main comment, however, would be that while it was an amazing experience for our first night in Bangkok, I really feel that sticking to just the upper-end areas of the city for a whole trip would limit the insight you get into this unique city. Best to spend a few nights in somewhere more downmarket after a night in the Hansar to soak in all Bangkok has to offer!

Great location and value for those that want modern luxury.
Near Four Seasons and St Regis, just as impressive at a lesser price.
taxis had a hard time finding the hotel.
Service was excellent although some "non asians" at times seem to get some preferential treatment.
we had a studio suite. Rooms are large and nicely laid out and spacious. a 1 bedroom with 2 TVs and spacious bathroom. Felt very cozy and homely. Like living in a small apartment. The Bed is very comfy. Aircon can get a bit cold especially at night. Careful when closing the mirrored door between the bedroom and living room. I nearly walked into it several times. Also, careful of the bottom of the bed. it really hurts, if you "kick it"

Facilities (gym and pool) are nice as well. Spa is also lovely, with good service and staff who assess and make recommendations for your treatments.

All around best hotel in Bangkok!! It is located in a heart of premium hotel town, so no wonder why it keeps up with the high end hotels in town. The rooms are very well designed and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the edge suite, and we very much enjoyed all the features in the room. The complimentary mini bar served us well. The spacious living area and working area gave us a feel of that we were at home. I loved the bathroom area (except for the glass doors..separating shower and the toilet..) - refreshing rain shower and the his-and-hers basin were wonderful.

We are not really a eco..nature.. kind of people.. So the warm hall way kind of threw us off, but that was just a minor thing that did not bother us too much. The view from the hotel is also not very good - so to enjoy the view take a trip to another hotel and grab a cocktail there. We have discovered this empty and unutilized rooftop space - great place to get some fresh air..but bring your own beer! :)

From the people who opened the door and the guest mangers, they all were very very accommodating and friendly. I highly highly recommend this hotel to anyone who's traveling to Bangkok. This is definitely money-well-spent-hotel! We can't wait to go back.

My partner and I just love this hotel. The room is unexpectedly spacious. There are fridge, stove and even washing machine in the room! They have a large bathtub, a shower room and a toilet, with glass wall separating each other. There are more importantly two basins so that you don't have to fight with your partner for washing up in the morning.

The staff is extremely helpful. We arrived at about 10a.m. and was offered a room without balcony. But we need a balcony as my partner needs to smoke. Initially they asked us to return after 2p.m. to change to another room. However, we thought that it'd be better for us to use the original room to have a shower and to change our clothes before going out. So they kindly let us use the original room, and then changed to another room afterwards.

Everything in the fridge and snack bar is complimentary!! And free wi-fi in the room! There was fruit waiting in the room, although there was no refill once you'd eaten it. But you could have a lot of fruit during breakfast. The breakfast buffet was great. You could appreciate the effort of the chef because you could always find something new in each morning.

The location is excellent, which is close to a BTS station, and just a 10min walk from Erawan.

Just one flaw during our leave to the airport, but it have nothing to do with the hotel. We asked to Concierge to call a taxi, and they offered us the advice regarding the charges. We finally decided to pay according to the meter. Then the taxi came, and I was sure that the staff did tell the driver that we'd pay according to the meter. But after we'd got on the taxi, the driver did not press on the meter. Rather he asked for 500B! We were furious and insisted to get off from the taxi. He then offered a max of 400B. We thought that he was so dishonest, an eventually changed to another taxi at the corner of the street. I hope that the hotel Concierge will note this.

Overall, I highly recommend everyone to stay in this hotel and enjoy the high standard service of this hotel.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room with a balcony

We stayed at the Hansar for two nights in mid Sept. Rooms were spacious - we had a small kitchenette with a stove, fridge, and basic utensils. Bathroom was big. There was a roomy sitting area and a desk. The bed was super comfy.

Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. They spoke English, but sometimes a little hard to understand.

Pool was cool. Infinity edge looking over nearby buildings. Beautifully landscaped.

Overall a modern looking hotel, with comfortable amenities and a gracious staff. Very close to a sky train station, so location was good.

I would recommend staying here.
