“Fantastic city hotel”
Reviewed 2 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Hansar for one night. We stayed in the studio suite. The room was big, clean, beautifully set out and had an extremely comfortable king size bed.

There is an infinity pool - good length, perfect temperature

Breakfast is delicious with a variety of foods (cereals, cheese, bread, pastries, meats, etc). They cook hot food to order and I had perfect poached eggs.

The bar downstairs is relaxed. Only downside was drinks are slightly pricy and the piped music a bit cheesy.

A great place to stay in the city.

Beautiful pool, amazing room and excellent location. I haven't stayed at the remaining 600 hotels in Bangkok but I have stayed in a lot of hotels round the world and can say that Hansar is really up there.

- Good location - 100m from BTS Skytrain - not far from most shopping areas - easy to access touristic locations (temples, palaces, etc.)
- Hyper comfortable
- Very good restaurant & breakfast
- Staff very pro & nice
- Great pool & massages
- Internet access in all room

Impressing to see such a paradise in that "GAME OVER" city of Bangkok ;-)

We were upgraded to a junior suite during our stay.

Change the ratings on hotels all over the world, The Hansar Bangkok really does set a new 5 star standard. This is by far the best hotel that I have ever stayed in. This hotel surpassed not only my expectations, but also my understanding of what five-star hospitality could be.

The first thing you notice is the high quality, tasteful and stylish design of everything in the hotel. There is a beautiful blend of modern well-designed wood and glass, with Thai traditional touches. All areas of the hotel are finished to an incredibly high standard.

Upon arrival I was upgraded to an Edge Suite, 2 room levels above my booking – I am a member of Small Luxury Hotels of The World Club, but I got the impression that they were upgrading all guests. The suite was absolutely stunning, beautifully furnished and incredibly well equipped. From the pictures on the internet one just cannot fully appreciate the beauty, quality and style of these rooms.

Rooms are incredibly well equipped with wonderful attention to detail, there are 2 large plasma screen TV’s, a free minibar, a groundbreaking bathroom (which rewrites the rulebook for good bathrooms), a lovely sofa seated area, a large daybed which juts out of the side of the hotel to give you great views over Bangkok. It is the attention to detail which so impressed me, such as the provision of iPod chargers and USB cables. Wireless Internet was free and very fast.

Customer service throughout the hotel was more than just efficient and polite but the staff really made an effort to get to know their guests to share a joke and to make me feel welcome. Their standard of English was consistently high, and they were faultless in every aspect of their work.

The free breakfast was excellent in every respect, and I really liked the outside seating area (optional).

I fully understand why this hotel has been the top rated hotel in Bangkok on trip advisor for so long. It is an absolutely astounding property, and incredibly good value given the quality of provision. Managers of other five-star hotels would do well to visit the Hansar hotel in order to see just how good a hotel can be.

My only complaint with this hotel is that from now on all other hotels will seem somewhat disappointing, when ever I stay anywhere else I will always wish that I was back at The Hansar, Bangkok.

Room Tip: They are all wonderful rooms, don't worry about which room you get.

This hotel deserves the acclaim it has received from other guests. Here are a couple of notes that may be helpful if you are thinking of staying here;
1. While there aren't many things to do in the immediate vicinity (ie within walking distance), the hotel's proximity to the Skytrain makes it easy to avoid Bangkok's traffic jams.
2. My guestroom was very quiet, which is something that not all five star hotels in Bangkok can claim. The lack of noise and very comfortable beds made for a good night's sleep.
3. Breakfast on the patio was excellent, especially in November's mild temperatures
4. The gym is well equipped, but the pool is nothing special. This might be an issue if you are traveling with kids.
5. They do take a few liberties with the "free minibar" claim. Mine comprised two cans of beer, two soft drinks and six snacks (peanuts and M&Ms).

At the moment I'm sitting at the Vue bar in the hotel Lobby enjoying a perfectly made, complimentary Mojito. Staying at the Hansar has been like this drink - silky smooth. From the car that picked us up from the airport (a nice touch was an Internet-connected iPad to use on the drive in) to check-in to the spacious room and beyond, everything about this property is pretty fantastic. The staff make an effort to know your name, they build a service charge into things like room service and comp you pretty much everything else, so you don't worry about the costs getting crazy and can just relax and enjoy the fantastic architecture and attention to detail. Included in the room rate is breakfast (something for everyone, not crazy like the four seasons, but definitely not bare bones), wifi (as many devices as you like, not this one-device-at-a-time crap), mini-bar (with daily replenishment) and evening drink. We're traveling with an infant and at my request they had a graco travel cot set up in the room on our arrival, with a matching little basket of infant toiletries. It was a really nice touch. The room is really large (we have an Edge Suite) with an enormous bathroom, separate bathroom, and daybed in a cantilevered section of the living room that has a view of the golf course. In fact, it is only the view that is keeping this property back. If you rotated the hotel 90 degrees and set it on the plot that the Four Seasons or St Regis occupy, you would have the start of something great, and probably the prices to go with it. As it stands, you can get a fantastic room at about half the cost of what the big boys are charging. Superb service is going to keep us coming back for more. The location is an 8 minute walk from the Erawan shrine, and about a minute from the BTS. Looking at the building there should be some rooms on the higher floors that front the golf course with a pretty spectacular view over the Four Seasons building. I'll see if I can tour these rooms and post an update. But in the meantime there is a very nice roof deck accessible to all on the 19th floor. Also lovely is swimming pool area. Again, just too bad about the view. It's not terrible, but just other condos. Same in the room (1212) but its designed well, with sheers that let in the light but blur the view. The architecture is very Thai-Modern, with lots of wood and stone. There's an Eco friendly aspect to the hallways, they're open to air and harness natural wind tunnels to reduce the dependence on air conditioning. But don't worry, the rooms and restaurants are perfectly chilled. Give this place a try.
