“Couldn't be any better!”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

I booked the Hansar for three nights of vacation on our first visit to Bangkok. I saw it on Jetsetter, but actually found a much better deal on the Small Luxury Hotels of the World website, where you can get packages and upgrades. We had a perfect stay at the Hansar, and the hotel really couldn't be any better.

ROOMS: We stayed in the Urban Suite, which cost just a little bit more than the Studio but seemed worthwhile for the extra space. The lush in-suite garden was a nice touch. The Urban Suite had a separate living room with ample desk space, and a large, very comfortable bedroom connected to a huge bathroom. The bathroom was huge and spotless, but the glass walls around the toilet made it so only one person could use the bathroom anyway. There was plenty of storage, but no doors on the closets, which is not a huge deal but would've been nice to have them. The mini bar is minimal, but free!

SERVICE: The service at the Hansar is wonderful, and every staff member we encountered went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The concierge went above and beyond with helping us get taxis, book a cool private boat tour of the canals, and give us tips on navigating Bangkok as a tourist.

RESTAURANTS: The on-site restaurants are worth a try for good food at a good price. We ordered room service for both a late-night snack as well as breakfast, and quickly received delicious food at a reasonable price. We also had lunch at the bar by the stunning pool, which was tasty, and two-for-one drinks at the lobby bar, which were a little weak but still good.

LOCATION: The location is excellent. It's in a very upscale area, right next door to the Four Seasons and St. Regis, and the neighborhood feels very safe at night. (You can also grab a great cocktail at the Four Seasons, too.) It's also right near a Skytrain station, one stop from the night market.

SPA: The spa is worth a visit, even if you don't usually visit the spa on your vacations. We had two treatments (Siam Massage and Signature Body Scrub), both of which were excellent. The spa is spotless and serene, and the service was very professional. It was a great way to relax, and the prices seemed almost cheap.

OVERALL: The Hansar seems like a steal, and I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the Urban Suite.

This hotel gets it right in just about every sense. The location is excellent, near the MRT and close walking distance to Central World. The rooms are excellent - clean, large and functional. The bed is amazingly comfortable and the bathroom out of this world. Great pool and gym.

Breakfast is plentiful and service outstanding. The inclusion of complementary mini-bar items is an added bonus, as was the complementary drinks at the bar each afternoon included in our rate.

On balance I could not find fault with this hotel and would stay here again without hesitation.

We arrived very late at night on a flight from Tokyo, and there being only one cab from Makkasan, the only driver there gave us a "take it or leave it" offer of 200 THB, a total rip off.

Our first impression of concierge was them berating the taxi driver for charging us more than double, and subsequently giving us a written note in Thai with something of the effect of "use the meter or else" for the future.

The concierge also was very good at providing directions and sightseeing advice, however understandably aimed at a higher budget than ours.

Our luggage was taken straight up to the room, which was gorgeous and at least 500 sq. ft. for the cheapest room there (170$/night on Agoda)

Kitchen, washer/dryer combo, great work desk, rain shower and separate stand alone bathtub, double vanities, very comfortable king bed, huge LCD TV.

Thai Cafe downstairs provides room service, 100 THB added on to each dish if you order up to the room. Great food, but clearly overpriced for BKK. However this is expected from a 5 star hotel.

Pool area is an amazing respite from a long day of sightseeing in Bangkok. 26 meters long, great for lap swimming if you are up for it. Gym is adequate and overlooks pool.

If you are looking for budget priced food, it is a little hard to come by in this neighbourhood. Try Amarin Plaza food court.

Breakfast is on a beautiful deck overlooking a very quiet side street. High quality european/english/thai food and decent espresso based coffee made to order complimentary.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Bangkok, but to get away from the craziness at the end of the day. I'm not in a position to compare it to other 5 stars in BKK, but I would imagine that value/money it would compare very well.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony if you have booked a studio suite.

The Resort is well located, close from the main malls (Siam, Central World and MBK) and there is a sky train station just outside the resort street.
We booked an Urban suite and were very happy of it, exactly what we expected and described by the web pictures. Including in the room, there is a small bar with soda, beer, peanuts, chips ... which is refill once a day, good and nice initiative.
The bedding was certainly one of the best that we ever encountered, a huge plaisure after a long day of shopping !
All the staff were very nice, helpfull and smiling (naturally). We have also appreciated the breakfast even if it is not the best that we ever had, again the service was perfect.
Only one point to improve, in some place the wall to wall carpets seem to be a little bit worn, but this is not a big deal.

This is an excellent boutique hotel if you prefer new and spacious rooms with modern amenities and contemporary style. Hotel has this modern and slick touch and ideal located in a quite side street with walking distance to all great shopping (malls) Bangkok has to offer. Concierge and reception is professional, breakfast buffet offers all what one needs. Helpful staff all around, very, very nice spa (try it!). We liked also the closeness to the Four Seasons, St. Regis and others for an alternative drink/eating/chill-out place.

We stayed at the Hansar for 2 nights on our first trip to Thailand. We arranged for the hotel to collect us from the airport on arrival and were taken to the hotel (approx 40 mins) in a very comfortable air conditioned BMW. The staff at the hotel are lovely and go out of their way to accommodate you. The location is good-within walking distance to the shopping malls and the BTS station which will get you everywhere. We stayed in a studio suite which was plenty big enough for the two of us and had the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! The whole hotel is spotless and nicely furnished. I would recommend this hotel to everybody visiting Bangkok.

Stayed for 5 days in January 2012. We have previously stayed at the JW Marriott Bangkok and Le Meridien Bangkok. The Hansar is one of those hotel rooms where you could be content to stay all day. The hotel room has a luxurious feel to it with a combination of thick pile carpet, fabric walls and wood fittings. A nice touch is the addition of certain books such as the Teachings of Buddha and a book detailing the history of the Thai King which provides some context for your stay in Bangkok. The free wifi is what we have come to expect with hotels of this calibre. We took advantage of the coupons provided by the hotel for discounts on spa treatments at the Luxspa and Cafe Boca. The spa treatments were good and we enjoyed the convenience of dining at Cafe Boca on the nights we were too tired to venture out. The Thai food at Cafe Boca is quite good. We also sampled the room service and I was impressed with the quality of the Wagyu burger. You could pay a little more and stay at the super plush St Regis down the street but we were happy with Hansar.
