“Good Stay”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Hansar hotel during our two night stay in Bangkok. We really enjoyed getting to use the rooftop pool and our overall stay was good. They have a 7-11 across the street which is convenient for getting snacks. Staff did a great job of setting up excursions for us.

My husband stayed at the Hansar on our recent visit to Bangkok. It is a beautiful hotel - the rooms are plush and comfortable, the breakfast excellent, the gym and pool very nice. The spa was wonderful as well! We enjoyed staying there very much. My only critique would be of both the bar and concierge. While everyone is very nice, the staff in the bar were a bit "odd" in their service and didn't seem quite up to par with the rest of the hotel staff... perhaps a little more training and experience is in order. The concierge - assuming that we were unable to negotiate changing trains on the LRT- gave us very limited directions which resulted in our missing an appointment. This was disappointing and could have been averted if he had been a little more generous and thorough with his information. Oh well.. water under the bridge. All in all, the hotel was a lovely oasis in this big, crazy city and we found the location to be very convenient. The showers are amazing!!

We loved this hotel! We checked in with our family in small studio with balcony and we immediatly became amazed over how smart this small apartment was planned! A kitchenette including things like complimentary beverages, a washing machine for clothes and coffee machine. Nice bedroom including sitting area with large tv and dvd set. Bathroom in a sleek modern design leaving nothing more to which for. All in all top scores for the room. The breakfast was buffet style, not the the largest selection seen but the quality of what was served is top class! Pool area and public areas are a bit squeezed in and does not compete with that of other larger 5 star hotels. Don't have too high expectations on the common facillities. If you instead appreciate a modern trendy life with emphazis on what Big city can offer, you have the perfect place in Hansar hotel to relax and prepare for new Bankok discoveries.

Room Tip: Only some rooms have balcony

My second stay at my favorite hotel in Bangkok and the hotel does not disappoint. I stayed in the smaller Studio Suite this time and found it perfect. The studio suite has a kitchenette instead of a separate sitting area. Again the room design is brilliant - modern and trendy, bathroom is sleek, and the bed is probably the most comfortable you will every experience. Special mention to Ong the bellboy/concierge who had some excellent recommendations for a fun night out. Director of Rooms Nirum Chompoo does everything to make your stay fabulous.

As other reviews have mentioned, the location is in central Siam - perfect for shopping and sky train access; the breakfast is excellent, better quality than many 5 star hotels.

Room Tip: Choose an urban suite for a larger room, however some studio suites have an excellent view of the ne...

Amazing hotel in a great location in Bangkok. Nothing negative to say at all. The hotel is clean, spacious, modern, well decorated with dark wood tones, and the staff is extremely friendly.

- Walking distance (1 block) from luxurious shopping mall, great restaurants, subway....
- Great infinity pool with nice pool bar
- Nice gym

Caution:

- Getting there is a little confusing because it has a somewhat hidden entrance. Even taxi and tuk tuk drivers had trouble finding it. Make sure you have the address and show it to the driver.

- There is a scam going on in Bangkok. A tour guide may approach you and tell you he's with the tourism office, and will recommend you take a tuk tuk to visit A, B and C to do cool sightseeing stuff, and at a very cheap tuk tuk fare. However, the catch is that the driver will also stop in a touristy store to try and make buy touristy stuff (their version of selling a time-share). You'll see the places you want to see, and will pay less than what other tuk tuks charge, but you'll be stuck in the store. If you want to buy souvenirs in the store, then the whole thing is a good deal. If you don't want to shop for touristy crap, it might be a waste of your time.

Recommendation:

- As I previously mentioned in another post, Thai people don't speak English well, and they also tend to have an exaggerated sense of distances (staff recommended I take a cab to the mall which was 1 block away). However, the concierge was friendly and spoke English well enough, and he'll look out for you. If you want to go somewhere, or go on an excursion, make sure you tell the concierge what you want to do, when, where...as much information as possible, and ask that he write it down on a piece of paper in Thai. This was extremely helpful when we wanted to take a river tour. We handed the piece of paper to the tour operator (who barely spoke English), and he understood immediately and exactly what we wanted without confusion. Everything went smoothly.

- Take the river tour

- Visit the Lebua at State Tower at night for an amazing city view

- Thai are very friendly people, and always willing to help. Explore the city.

- Again, ask the hotel concierge (or someone who understands you well) to write down in Thai things you want to do. Generally speaking, Thai are honest and won't necessarily try and rip you off, but make sure there is no ambiguity in what you want to do and what you think they think you want to do in terms of excursions, going somewhere, doing something.

Room Tip: Go as high up as possible, and face the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.
