Please, don't go to this place!! First of all they are thief!! We paid to have a "safety loocker" but they are not!! They stoled our money and when we want explanation, nothing... and if you think that police will help you, your are not on the real world. Believe me, because we call them and they don't do anithing. I have been stoled on the loocker and my friend stoled on the room...

Then, the room are dirty and spartiate! No electricity, no blanket, no furniture!!

Please dont go to this place...

We stayed at the Baan Sabai getting two rooms for eight days -- 4 days at the start of our vacation and four more days at the end of our vacation. Although the rooms are basic, they are clean. The location is good, just a short walk to Ko San Road, and the price is right. However, we felt like we were nickel and dimed to death. We had to pay for the locker to put our valuables -- that was a first in SEA. We also had to pay for luggage storage (checked out at noon, went to airport at 11 p.m.) -- another first. We wanted to shower before heading to the airport -- we were sweaty and had about 34 hours of travel ahead of us. We were allowed to use the showers -- again if we paid (and a towel was not provided unless we paid even more). In Vietnam we found ourselves twice taking a sleeper bus after spending the day at the beach. Both times we were told that we could use the shower -- we were even given towels -- all at no cost! So although the charges for these things weren't great -- no other hotel during our three months of travel in SEA charged for any of these things! I mentioned this to the manager (and reminded him how many days we had stayed) and he became very mad saying that every where else charges for these things. This place gets a less than average review because the manager is so unwelcoming and you must pay for amenities that other guest houses routinely provide. Also, although Lonely Planet says they have Internet, but they do not. Their restaurant does, but guest house staff do not give out the password and the restaurant doesn't open until 11 a.m. I got up the first morning and could not use the Internet until the restaurant opened three hours later. NOTE: Because others had had things stolen we put zip locks on luggage left in our room and brought our own lock for the valuable locker. Frankly, at the end of our vacation we wanted to stay else where, but the other nearby guest houses were either full or too expensive (and then we got tired of looking).

Never go there they stole like 200 dollars from my friends and me. We I notice it they guy start lougthing like I was crazy.

Never go there, they stole 200 dollars from my friend and I. When we noticed it they started laughing like I was crazy. We were sure about how much we had because we took a picture of it before leaving it in the safe and even left a note with the amount we had inside the safe. But when we opened it there was no note and some of the money was missing. We called the Khao San Road police but they might have some arrangement with them because they were not afraid and after a few words exchanged between the two parties, the police left.

I even got to talking with some other guests that think money was stolen from their own room because 100 dollars were missing!!

Awful rooms, terrible staff that stole 5000 baht from my 'safety' deposit box!
Rooms had no plug sockets and staff denied any knowledge of missing money.
I was shocked that lonely planet had reccomended the place

been to baan sabai some 6 times in 8 years. Cheap, well located, quiet. Last time - 10 days ago.
We are always on a limited budget, and we keep very precise accounts of our expenses via ifinance. We also generally keep the cash on us. However, we left it in the luggage for a day as we went to a water park and felt it was safer there. We travel with a baby. She distracted us and we forgot to lock the luggage. Once back - we noted cash was stolen. Smartly, not all. Some notes from here and there, for a total of 650 euro. If we would not be so precise with cash, we could have had the doubt we actually spent it... they took small notes, of different currencies, and from assorted pokets of our cash wallet...
Sad. It really looked like it was an inside job counting on us not to notice it :(

Never had a problem here and I've been staying here for the past 4 years whenever I'm in Bangkok. The safety deposit boxes of mine have never been broken into - however I have never left anything valuable in them in the first place. The rooms are clean and the shared bathrooms are pretty good. For the price and location you can't really complain if luxuries aren't on your list.

We stayed at the Baan Sabai in November 12, and used the safety deposit box. Most of our money was gone when we took our valuables out, it was in pristine dollars sealed in plastic ready for Myanmar, so we didn't check straight away. The manager denied all knowledge when i later phoned, emails went unanswered, and when we confronted him face to face recently, he said it was impossible. Do not stay here!!!
