Yup, a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by friendly staff and got a big and nice room. The bed was great.

The pool was fine as well, and we enjoyed a couple of very affordable and refreshing poolside options like the watermelon juice and some light meals. I found the breakfast quite poor, though (maybe because I look for healthy options!).

Golden Tulip is not a charming or romantic place, but it's a very ok option when you want to stay on a budget.

Nice Hotel in Bangkok, stayed here for 2 nights and was nice, rooms are big but like other reviewers have said are quite dark, i stayed in a Executive Suite that was good value for the money i paid but would probably stay else where next time. The breakfast was lovely and nice pool area too, but not that many seats!!!!

Initially the luggage has to be left at a concierge desk at the hotel car park entrance. Checkin is at the 4th floor, though when exiting the lift the signage is inadequate. Anyway, having discovered that Reception was inside a room off the swimming pool the single lady on the desk was overwhelmed by both the number of people to check in and was clearly lacking in competence as a result it was taking an inordinate length of time. I actually called the hotel on my mobile as things were so desperate and asked to speak to the Manager who apparently had not yet arrived; though in fairness to her, she did call the room later and apologised for the mayhem at Reception and accepted responsibility.
Anyway when I did finally check in I was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite, wow! Anyway the WOW was short lived, as on getting to the room, which you have to make your own way to with no guidance, it really was disappointing. It was really small, the amount of dark and black furniture and décor made it extremely dark, not helped by inadequate lighting. The lighting is so poor in many areas it was necessary to use the torch on my mobile; it was even impossible to read the temperature on the aircon control.

Further investigation of the room revealed that the cleaning was well below an acceptable standard. One of the refrigerator trays had decaying food in it that looked like it had been there some time. The coffee table had ‘rings’ from spilt drinks and the bathroom was also not great. I moved the sofa (incidentally this is very uncomfortable) slightly to get a better viewing angle for the TV and there was a babies bottle underneath! On the second day cleaning was carried out, not great again and there were marks from toothpaste still left by the basin. Whilst discussing the bathroom the hot water is only tepid. The location of the case stand is not good as when you open the case the top hits the light switch and turns the light off.

On the plus side the Internet was stable and reasonably quick, however the electrical outlet by the desk was so worn that it arced when connecting to it and the plug had a tendency to drop out.

Checkout was a lot less ‘painful’ than checkin, although I had booked concierge to collect the luggage and they were 15 minutes late. The aircon in the waiting area on the ground floor was broken and this meant that the area was like an oven; fortunately my driver was early.

The hotel was fantastic. The rooms are big and clean with everything you need. Free wifi and bottles water.

Free tuk tuk on request to take you to the main road. In a great part of Bagkok with easy access to the metro and sky train. The pool is lovely and the staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast has a great selection.

Mat and Mint in the hotel were very helpful.

Has everything you need for a few nights in Bangkok. Nice and relaxing after a long flight.

Takes about an hour in traffic from BKI airport. Closer to DMK.

Book it. It's safe, clean and comfortable. In a nice part of there city.

We stayed at this hotel as a couple. We had an early reservation & got a room at a reasonable rate. Our room had enough space as we expected with a city view, the bed was not so big though. We liked everything about the hotel, except that the shower was not working properly & there was no cold water, & we were told that the water force is low as we were on the top floor (15th). Location was okay, not very close to the station, but hotel provides a free tuk tuk ride to the station, so not a big deal (Asok Station is the nearest BTS to the hotel). Also there are lots of massage shops nearby.

Swimming pool was great, buffet breakfast was acceptable, some stuff were very helpful & friendly while others were a bit rude(specially the tall guy at the concierge desk). Taxi fare to the airport is between 400 to 500 baht.

I went with a bunch of family members. Me and my husband had our own room. It was huge! I paid about 50 canadian a night. Bed was comfy. Airconditioned rooms. the value was great! It was really hot when we went. The elevator is not air conditioned which was a killer during the hot days. The pool was pretty much untouched. We swam everyday. They had cars to drop you off at the street where you can take subways and car taxis. Alot of street vendors in the area. I had my hair and massage down the street for 20 bucks. Make sure when hailing a taxi to not negotiate the price and to ask to use the meter. If they push to negotiate walk away fast.

Upon arrival, myself and my partner were both exhausted from a very long journey. We were disappointed to be greeted by a member of staff who asked us if we would be happy to stay somewhere else due to problems with flooding. We of course were both surprised and not satisfied with this so we declined, and insisted on staying.

Room: Poor lighting and decor, checked under bed for anything we may have left behind, which was filthy. Woken up very early one morning by banging and drilling in the room next door. Shower very pleasant

Facilities: Pool, nice, staff at main reception pleasant, Free bottled water, free Tuk Tuk to skytrain as it is a little distance from hotel

Gentlemen at the concierge desk downstairs very rude.

As we got a good deal on the room we were not hugely disappointed but would not have paid a penny more for our stay
